The only reason why I've held back the end of voting sessions was so we could get more voters in. If people who come here win a contest because of 2 votes and feel like frauds, that shouldn't be happening.

Alright then!

The next challenge is to create a Grand Prix circuit in the state of California (US)!

Location: The track has to be inside California

Length: Anything between 4.0 km - 8.0 km

You may use existing roads and/or create a race course from scratch! To make things interesting, and to avoid Long Beach modifications, the streets of the Long Beach circuit can not be included in the new layout. Try to be realistic! Buildings can be "torn" as long as they are something along the lines of rundown warehouses etc etc. The starting point of the circuit (in gmap) has to be start/finish point on the circuit.

i didnt actually think it was that good, although i dont seem to think most of my tracks are any good. the islands shape does remind me a bit of dijon-prenois

Comared to the rest of our tracks, it's good. But if we had more entries to contend with, it may not be entirely the best. I like the layout, but we'll see hoe it fares.

Well, I suppose we are breaking our own rules, but I think I can let that slide. I have been leaving the entry process open for longer to try and get more entries into the contest. So far, it has worked on a couple of occasions, but it rarely does, and people tend to completely forget about it. To see that the previous winner enters and there are still only 5 tracks posted as of now since it started 3 days ago is actually quite a low count compared to other occasions. Heck, I've left the entry process open for a week or two at a time only to get 7 or 8 entries. So on that basis, I think it's okay to let you in.

I for one wouldn't complain too much

But really, I would have called it at about now anyway seeing as 5 of the people who voted were in the contest out of 6, and the other was going to enter (pi), but didn't. So, I feel that there was reasoning
behind Benetton's ending the contest before the 2 day mark ended. Or he didn't know of the 2 day mark (it's been a long while since that's really been done, as I've been looking to see more votes and now we finally get a good amount of them).

And since the points were quite messed up compared to the usual system, I've now recalculated them:

Well, thanks to the 500 Internal Servor Error, the scheduling got all screwed up, but people have probably had more than 24 hours to vote, and no takers. So, here I am, ready to give you guys your new challenge.

***NEW CHALLENGE***

The Wide Open Country Yonder

-The track must be in an area of countryside, with no urban or suburban areas included in the track (villages, hamlets, small towns, and towns will work)
-Minimum length of 10 km. Maximum length of 72 km (length of the Targa Florio)
-You must use at least 90% public roads. No buildings may be torn down for any reason whatsoever. Be reasonable!
-Have fun.

Notorious Aussie bushrangers Ben Hall and Captain Thunderbolt hid from the law for years in these rugged hills outside Nundle, New South Wales in the 1850s and 1860s. Will things end as badly for competitors on this remote and demanding 52.8 km circuit as it did for this pair?

The circuit starts on the only strip of motorway of the circuit, so as to allow for the pit area. At Beaufays, the track leaves the motorway and in a 90° right hander moves on to the Thier des Forges, which consists of long straights followed by a twisting heavy descent until km6, followed by a lighter ascent from km7 to km9 at the exit of Louveigné. At the top of the climb, the circuit turns right at the roundabout and heads downhill towards Remouchamps with two fast straights before a twistier section between km12 and 13, in front of the Monde Sauvage wildlife park. At km15, the circuit crosses the Amblève river and enters Remouchamps, beginning the long descent alongside the river. A 3km-long fast section takes the track to Aywaille, with a chicane at km 18 to slow the cars down slightly before exiting the village and following the long meanders of the Amblève for 8 full kilometres all the way to Comblain-au-Pont, where the Amblève meets the Ourthe river. The circuit crosses the Ourthe and promptly follows the river by turning right just before Comblain. At km29, the circuit turns right sharply at Chanxhe, crossing the Ourthe and entering Sprimont with a long climb of 5 km towards the quarry. At km 35, the hairpin takes the circuit into another long and fast climb and the circuit's longest straight-ish portion before reaching km39, where the track turns left and heads towards the village of Dolembreux, passing through it and progressing downhill past the CHU towards Esneux. At km46, the circuit rejoins the meanders of the Ourthe before reaching Tilff at km51, where it crosses the river on the old iron bridge. Just before the 54th kilometre mark, a double chicane is used to slow the cars as the circuit widens before km56, where the circuit turns left and crosses the Ourthe to head uphill towards Embourg. Once there, a right turn sends the track uphill once more towards Beaufays and at km60,5, the drivers turn to the right and go back downhill towards the motorway, bridging it and returning towards the start-finish line after a 270° corner.

tl;dr: 64km, 117 corners (depending on your definition), 7 communes (Chaudfontaine--Sprimont--Aywaille--Comblain-au-Pont--Esneux--Tilff--Embourg), massive elevation changes and 2 goddamn rivers. What's not to love?

They work for me, but they need a lot of time to load, probably because of the long length of some of the tracks.
