Well, Villeneuve raced in a lot of different series, even in Brazilian StockCar. But i can't imagine him racing in Indy 500. First, he refused racing in that tragical racing of Las Vegas, because of the safety of the cars. Second, in the last races we saw some drivers injuried by crashes (and one had to put an end in his career).
"I don't think we should be used to finance (the manufacturers') R&D because they will produce that engine anyway" said Monisha Kaltenborn. "You will never see a Mercedes using a Ferrari engine or the other way round."
Since its been ten minutes since Indycar has randomly changed qualifying for the 500 for no real reason, they went ahead and changed it again, again for no real reason:

What was wrong with the old format? At least with the old format those who went into Bump Day still had a chance of not qualifying, and those who were fast enough stayed in their positions (with the exception of the Top nine, of course.) Now the Top 33 are locked in and they have to run again, for no apparent reason whatsoever. Seems silly to me.

The WEC doesn't have gimmick points, as Le Mans actually has a valid reason to be a double points race. But points systems like these are turning me off championship battles, and making me feel more like watching racing for the sake of racing. Gimmick points is not making racing championships better, yet it seems like the next hot thing on the Red Carpet.
I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but running double points for the Triple Crown has actually balanced out the maximum available points from ovals and road/street courses (600 vs 592).
Meanwhile, Special Ed's got a second car ready for JR Hildebrand for the 500

Of course it wasn't intentional, that's a positive aspect. The point is to see how bad you can make the system before people actually stop watching. "F1 did double points for a race? We'll do it for three races in an eighteen-race series and it'll go through!"

They've been handing out points for qualifying at the Indy 500 since 2010.
Still dumb.

Hope Sato wins or score a podium, just to prove his horrendous luck in the second half of 2013 doesn't continue. Montoya looking like a contender for ROTR already?

No. He hasn't been in a single seater since God knows when and the last time he raced American open wheelers was 2000. I'd say we give him a break.

Not surprised. In the slightest.

Really not a bad race. Aside from Power being a little too enthusiastic about stacking the field, a general lack of driver brain fade, hard racing, and no moronic officiating. A good start to the season.

OK, so I have just caught up with watching the St Petersberg race, post-F1/BTCC/Mothering Sunday. First thing to strike me was during the Sato/AJ Foyt feature at the start of the ESPN coverage. Why did they subtitle Sato when he was speaking in English? Isn't that a bit racist? He wasn't that hard to comprehend, was he?
Plus, I thought Montoya did about as well as Menu and Giovanardi did in the BTCC - all three returning to championships that they had previously won, all on the same day, and all ending up with mid-field results. Not at their heights, but reasonable considering that they had been away from the respective series for some years.
And THAT restart - whether it was the officials confusing the situation, or whether it was Will Power's fault, that was not clever. New rules for a restart? KISS! Sounds like it was potentially more complicated than it needed to be.
And finally, what happened to Charlie Kimball? I know he and his team are not the fastest, but they are not normally the slowest in the field are they? Not great from someone who won a race last year...

Err, first of all, Kimball drives for Ganassi (you know, the reigning champions and all). Secondly, he spent most of his time last year taking Dario to the cleaners and back.
As far as I recall though, he had a spin which brought out the first caution, and was never to be heard from again.

Sato's still not the easiest to understand when compared to King Hiro, but more understandable than Hideki Mutoh for example.
More Moneytron, more problems for Onyx! A flock of Kroghs appear on the NASCAR Track and cause caw-tions!

I didn't find him any harder to understand than his boss in that clip (AJ Foyt, isn't it?).

They were binned. Since race control refuse to enforce them properly anyway, its no big loss.
