As much as I like Vandorne and Marciello, winning GP2 in the first year is very difficult and unfortunately people here seem to think that if you don't win in the first year you are "unworthy."
If you're referring to me, then I'm afraid you're quite mistaken. It's not that as much as the title being won by somebody who had been milling about in GP2/FR3.5 for 2-3 years previous and had accomplished little to nothing in those categories before their title winning year. I mean, when the title favourite among the drivers who have previous GP2 experience is Felipe Nasr, who finished 2013 with less podiums than Stefano friggin' Coletti. That, versus somebody like Stoffel Vandoorne, who was easily the second most-impressive junior driver last year, and was actually ahead of Kevin Magnussen after 9 of 17 rounds.
That said, if anyone is gonna beat Vandoorne or Marciello, it'll be Nasr. But from looking at 2013, I don't see him having the guts to beat them.
