The F1 Rejects Book Thread

Post by go_Rubens »

I was tempted to write this post after finishing a really great novel a few days ago, which is where my sigquote comes from. Maybe this thread can be a book review thread. The book I finished is called The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein, and it is very much worth a read. I finished it within a 48 hour time period, as I simply couldn't put it down, and the second half is just a wave train of features on the river (sorry, being a canoe slalom paddler cannot help me from saying that :P ) that is very emotional, as my eyes watered up at various points. It's about a racing driver named Denny, and his life struggles through love, tragedy, redemption, and it is all narrated by his dog, Enzo. So, what books have you read out there that are worthy of reading?

I remember purchasing this many years ago:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fit-Motorsport- ... motorsport

I still have it, but I have only opened it that one time all those years ago. I remember being totally let down by it,
it wasn't very good at all. I can't recall why, though.

I picked up Murray Walker's autobiography a while back from the charity book stall at Sainsbury's and really should get round to reading it. It should be good insurance against F1 Deprivation setting in, although I wonder if that'll happen if there's this horrible sinking feeling that the next five to ten years might be more of the same as what we've had recently..

You really should read it, it's a thoroughly good read.

Indeed it is.

And this thread prompted me to think of this thread. It explains itself and people's thoughts pretty well.

I should be getting Alex Yoong's autobiography in the mail any day now. Looking forward to reading it,
I heard there are some very emotional and private stuff in there.
I searched for any mentions of the book here on the forum, but couldn't find any posts at all :?

Hopefully I will actually finish this one. I'm great at opening a book and starting to read it, not so great at finishing them.
I have too many unread autobiographies collecting dust as it is.
Brundle's, Coulthard's, Zanardi's, Rossi's, Ozzy's, Chevy Chase's...and some more I'm forgetting :|
