1. You can spend money on upgrades during this time. There are five areas of focus, one area will cost $500k, and two areas will cost you $800K. Yes, it's somewhat similar to Ataxia's F1 management game. Here are the five areas for your information
Engine power: Increases BOTH qualifying and Race engine power outputs, since the engines have to last the whole weekend anyway. Reliability: Decreases the chances of your cars DNFing Qualifying runs: Increases the overall pace of the car in Qualifying Race runs: Increases the overall pace of the car in the races Aerodynamics: Decreases the inconsistencies of the car's handling
And yes, you CAN put a double focus in one area, if you insist!
2. If you have a test driver, you must use him in place of one of your regular racing drivers. If you don't have a tester, disregard this rule.
3. If you want the information on car and driver stats before you make a decision, then you can simply state that and I will send you a PM containing the car/driver stats.
Would you be able to send me the Midland stats? Thanks!

After reviewing our stats, Red Bull would like to spend 800k on Engine Power and Aero please.

Since no one else is posting upgrade plans, and I finally got done with my college finals. I went ahead and did the Pre-season test at Jerez. Here are the results and some analysis.
1 Kimi Raikkonen (McLaren-Mercedes) 1:23.032 2 Jarno Trulli (Midland-Mercedes) +0.118 3 Fernando Alonso (Renault) +0.156 4 Ralf Schumacher (Toyota) +0.585 5 Michael Schumacher (Ferrari) +0.767 6 Juan Pablo Montoya (Ferrari) +0.848 7 Jacques Villeneuve (Red Bull-Ferrari) +1.175 8 David Coulthard (Red Bull-Ferrari) +1.309 9 Sebastien Bourdais (McLaren-Mercedes) +1.318 10 Christian Kilen (Honda) +1.512 11 Mark Webber (Honda) +1.520 12 Jenson Button (Williams-Cosworth) +1.690 13 Nico Rosberg (Williams-Cosworth) +1.779 14 Pedro De La Rosa (Prodrive-Cosworth) +1.783 15 Nick Heidfeld (BMW Sauber) +1.826 16 Adrian Sutil (Renault) +2.076 17 Anthony Davidson (Toro Rosso-BMW) +2.365 18 Robert Doornbos (BMW Sauber) +2.411 19 Vitantonio Liuzzi (Toro Rosso-BMW) +2.789 20 Tiago Monterio (Toyota) +2.792 21 Gary Paffett (Carlin-Cosworth V10) +3.321 22 Alexandre Premat (Midland-Mercedes) +3.650 23 Takuma Sato (Super Aguri-Honda) +4.503 24 Markus Winkelhock (Prodrive-Cosworth) +5.395 25 Narain Karthikeyan (Carlin-Cosworth V10) +5.685 26 Yuji Ide (Super Aguri-Honda) +6.799
Many surprises here, most notably Jarno Trulli in 2nd in the Mercedes powered Midland. But if you are Ataxia, he must be worried about Premat’s pace, he only ended up in 22nd. Likewise, Ralf Schumacher turning in a faster time than both Ferrari’s. This must be taken with caution because Monteiro their test driver only ended up 20th, which kind of makes Klon scratch his head. If you are wallio and Red bull, at least they made some good pace progress. Bourdais was not that bad, finishing with the 9th quickest time. Meanwhile, Prodrive is impressed with De La Rosa, he ended up 14th on the timesheet. On the other hand, Sutil in the Renault, is 16th on the timesheet, if you are Phoenix you better are hoping that Vettel is faster than that. And if you are Yuji Ide, and FMecha, the FIA might be reconsidering their decision to grant Ide that SuperLicense already, after the rerun Driver RNG’S. He is 1.1 seconds off 25th place, which is not acceptable according to the safety conscious FIA!

So, I decided to use the same calendar and the 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 points system as they ran in 2006. Here’s the first round in Bahrain!

Race Summary: At the start, Premat lost his front wing heading into turn 4 on lap 1. Meanwhile, Villenueve got a great start getting up to 2nd after lap 1. The day ended very early for Webber, his engine let go on the back straight on the very next lap. On Lap 6, Paffett had a puncture, but he made it back to the pits in time. However, Kimi wasn’t so lucky, he suffered a tire failure at turn 11 on lap 13 while leading Trulli by 3.5 seconds and his race was done. For Karthikeyan, he suffered an Engine blowup just as he was coming out of the pits on lap 15, his race was also done. Meanwhile, Schumacher got spun around at Turn 10 while he was trying an overtaking move on lap 19, he was able to continue but he dropped all the way down to 12th. On Lap 23, Alonso makes his 1st pit stop while he was leading the race, but his engine let go one lap later afterwards on the front straight and while this was happening, Davidson suffered a suspension failure at Turn 6, ending his race. A few moments later, Heidfeld had to retire due to a blown engine. Getting the theme here, Bahrain will cause engines to blow up due to the heat! De La Rosa had to retire due to a suspension problem while he was in 8th on lap 31. Liuzzi suffered brake failure at Turn 13, and crashed into the wall, ending his race. The next event happened on lap 35, Ide suffered a transmission failure, having the transmission stuck in 4th, ending his f1 debut. Just as the Trulli gets into the pits for a tire change from the lead, Ralf Schumacher’s Engine failed on him on the front straight on lap 40 while he was about to take the lead from Trulli. With 10 laps to go, Wurz suffered a tire failure at the exit of turn 3, and it’s a double DNF for Prodrive. Meanwhile, towards the end, there was a healthy scrap for 6th place between M. Schumacher and Bourdais and for the final point in 8th between Vettel and Rosberg. In the end, M. Schumacher got 6th ahead of Bourdais, and Vettel hanged on for the final point by finishing 8th ahead of Rosberg. At the end of the day, Midland pulled off a mini-brawn GP, by winning their first ever race by 53 seconds over second place Villeneuve in the red bull, and Coulthard rounds off the podium. To finish it off, JPM and Klien finished 4th and 5th respectfully. In the end only 13 cars finished the race.

Race summary:
Once again, Kimi had an early puncture but this time, he got lucky and made it back to the pits safely on lap 3. After Sato and Ide retired from engine and transmission failures before the first set of pit stops. On Lap 21, Trulli decided to pit a couple laps earlier than scheduled. While this was happening, Rosberg and Karthikeyn’s races were over due to mechanical failures. By halfway through, it was Alonso leading over Trulli by 10 seconds. Button suffered from a brake failure at the final turn on lap 39. Webber suffered a water leak a couple laps later. It was a shame that Montoya made a mental error late in the race by spinning his Ferrari out of the final corner. In the end, Alonso’s gap was too much for Trulli to catch up, and Alonso won by 6 seconds. Michael Schumacher rounds off the podium.

Race Summary
After an accident free first lap, Gary Paffett suffered an oil leak on lap 2. On Lap 9, JPM suffered an Engine blowup on the run to turn 3. While this drama was going on, Bourdais and Rosberg got blinded by the heavy smoke and ran into the back of Montoya’s Car as it stopped on the back straight. Both cars had to go to the pits for a new front wing. On the very next lap, Webber had yet another engine blowup but unlike JPM he did pull off safely. Heidfeld had to park the car on lap 29, transmission problems on the Sauber were to blame. Jacques Villeuenve suffered a big puncture at turn 7 on lap 34, and eventually had to retire the car at turn 12. On lap 41, Button had to retire from 7th due to a transmission failure. Premat’s day ended on lap 45 due to transmission failure. Mondini also had to retire his Toyota due to an oil leak. At the end of the day, Kimi won by 18 seconds over Trulli in 2nd and Alonso rounds off the podium. The biggest take away is Pedro De La Rosa scoring Prodrive’s First ever F1 points by finishing 7th!

Paddock News:
The FIA has given 2 penalty points on Montoya’s Superlicense!
The FIA has decided to give JPM 2 penalty points for his actions of not pulling over to the side right away after his engine blew up, which resulted in two drivers losing their front wings in the heavy smoke. The FIA also reminded all of the other drivers that if anyone has earned 5 penalty points, then they will have to sit out a race, and afterwards one penalty point would be removed for every race that they completed without violation.
Yuji Ide demoted to Test driver at Super Aguri?
The FIA also made a suggestion that could affect Super Aguri moving forward, the FIA has suggested to Aguri Suzuki that they should move Yuji Ide from #2 driver to their tester and sign someone else for Imola onwards on the grounds of safety. Super Aguri will have 3 days to decide whether to heed their suggestion or not given that their money situation is somewhat bad to begin with.
Spyker considering an entry or supply engines for 2007?
Spyker Automobile is in the process of entering the F1 grid next year, either as an engine maker, with Audi/Porsche helping them build the engine and supplying one customer for 2007, or if a team falters at the end of the season, creating a new entry with Lola as their chassis maker with their engine. Exact power specifications of the Spyker unit remains a secret.
A Toyota Platoon happening?
There are rumors flying around that Tiago Montiero might get a few races in the Toyota TF106 in relief of Giorgio Mondini, who has been disappointing so far. The likely rumor would be that Montiero will race in Canada and the USA in place of Mondini. Last year, Montiero scored a podium finish in the infamous 6-car USA GP and Toyota hasn’t commented on the matter yet.
As a friendly reminder there would be an in-season test after the next race at Imola, so be prepared with your upgrade plans!

Okay, I am a little feeling under the weather yesterday but today I feeling much better so much that I decided to run Round 4 at Imola. Before we start, some news to pass around, the FIA has indeed approved Tagliani of a super license for the remainder of the season, because he has shown consistency and a quick enough pace in Champ Car. Here’s the recap!
Qualifying Results
1 Kimi Raikkonen 1:23.783 2 Fernando Alonso +0.223 3 Ralf Schumacher +0.346 4 Jarno Trulli +0.528 5 Michael Schumacher +0.549 6 Sebastien Bourdais +0.572 7 Juan Pablo Montoya +0.609 8 Jacques Villenueve +0.788 9 David Coulthard +0.910 10 Felipe Massa +1.004 11 Nick Heidfeld +1.076 12 Mark Webber +1.215 13 Jenson Button +1.341 14 Pedro De La Rosa +1.559 15 Vitantonio Liuzzi +1.586 16 Christian Kilen +1.608 17 Nico Rosberg +1.861 18 Sebastian Vettel +1.864 19 Alexandre Premat +2.414 20 Anthony Davidson +2.453 21 Gary Paffett +2.639 22 Alexander Wurz +3.366 23 Takuma Sato +3.575 24 Giorgio Mondini +3.581 25 Alex Tagliani +4.134 26 Narain Karthikeyan +4.617
Very careful observers will note that the gap from the pole time to the last place time has decreased by around 3 seconds since last round! A couple reasons why could this be, first off we are back in Europe and second off, Imola is a well-known circuit for F1 and their set-ups seems to be better up and down the grid! The F1 newcomer Tagliani, qualified 25th.
Race summary
At the end of the first lap, Webber got up to 4th. Meanwhile on Lap 7, Button suffered a problem with the electronics on his steering wheel. They had to pit for repairs. On the same lap, Alonso suffered a transmission failure while trying to close in on race leader Kimi. On Lap 12, Jarno Trulli spun out at the turn 6 haripin, dropping him all the way down to 24th! After the initial batch of pitstops, on Lap 20, Rosberg suffered an Engine Problem. Meanwhile, another engine blew up on the next lap, this one was the Midland-Mercedes of Premat. On Lap 27, Coulthard had to retire the Red Bull. On Lap 33, Tagliani’s f1 debut was over due to a transmission failure. On Lap 40, Sato’s engine failed on him. On Lap 50, Jacques Villenueve suffered a Water leak while running 6th. On the very next lap, Klien Suffered an Engine Problem in Turn 8. With 4 laps left to go, Ralf suffered a severe puncture at turn 11, and had to retire from 2nd place. On the very next lap, Bourdais also had to retire from 2nd with an Engine failure. This means both Ferraris would be on the podium if it stands. At the same time, Mondini, in the sister Toyota retired with suspension failure at the hairpin. As an epic fail to end the race, Liuzzi was 9th but his throttle pedal became falty and had to pit on the very last lap and he fell down 3 places as a result.
Meanwhile, Kimi won by close to 40 seconds over the two Ferraris with Montoya finishing Runner-Up and M. Schumahcer finishing 3rd. Webber is finally on the score board with a 4th and BMW sauber is on the board as well with a 5th by Heidfeld. Trulli managed to salvage 6th place points, Vettel finished 7th and Massa rounds off the points paying positions.

Carlin won't bring any new parts to the test, but will use it to give test driver Chanoch Nissany some time in the car. Also, we would like to ask Pastor Maldonado if he would pay 250 000 for doing the test for Carlin. Otherwise, Paffett will drive the second car.

Guess that Trulli is a serious contender for Driver's champion after all, He posted the fastest time at the test. Premat looked slightly faster today, and Monteiro looks he should get a few races replacing Mondini, if Toyota were smart enough! Meanwhile, Pastor Maldonado got the test in place of Paffett at Carlin and he was two seconds off Tagliani's time in the Super Aguri. Things at Toro Rosso-BMW isn't looking that promising with Davidson's car experiencing Engine problems throughout the day.
Paddock News:
Super Aguri looking for pay drivers/extra money?
There is a serious possibility that Super Aguri will not make it through the 2006 season unless they get some extra money either through a pay driver like Pastor Maldonado, who tested for Carlin at Imola, and brings right around $12 million in sponsorship, however it would require cutting test driver Yuji Ide at a cost of $50,000. Another option is to sell half of the team to an investor of some sorts. Regarding a recent rumor, Aguri Suzuki stated that he will not consider trading Sato to Williams in exchange for money because Honda's CEO wants Sato to drive for the whole season.
Spyker visits Williams for an informal talk regarding engines for 2007
Some Spyker staff visited the Williams factory for some informal talk regarding their engine for 2007. A top Williams official has stated that they are open to the possibility to sign a deal with Spyker, who is building their engine with the feedback from Porsche. As of right now, Williams are using the Cosworth V8, which also powers the new for 2006 Prodrive team. However, Williams still hasn't scored a point yet this season and Prodrive already has scored their first F1 points.

Montiero to race the second half of the season for Toyota?
After earning some seat time at the Imola test, Toyota has been disappointed in Mondini so far, that he could lose his seat to Reserve driver Tiago Monteiro starting from the USA GP onwards in the latest press rumors.
BMW reconsidering supplying Toro Rosso Engines for 2007
Meanwhile, Toro Rosso has been somewhat rejectful this season, by winning ROTR twice so far this season. That infamous honor has BMW answering tons of questions about the possibility of them stopping supply of BMW V8’s to the Toro Rosso Team for 2007, which by the way used to be the Minardi team! Meanwhile, the BMW works team, the Sauber team, has scored a few points so far which puts more pressure on Toro Rosso to get on the points board.

Since Carlin are very far off the pace anyway, I might just as well save even more money for next year. So if he can come up with $3 million, Pastor Maldonado will take the place of Gary Paffett for the rest of the season.
pasta_maldonado wrote:The stewards have recommended that Alan Jones learns to drive.
Well, there was a couple changes since last round. Pastor Maldonado did indeed bring $3 million to race for Carlin for the rest of the season. The other change was Markus Winkelhock replacing Alexander Wurz at Prodrive. So, here’s the recap

Paddock news:
FIA has decided to remove the 2 penalty points off Montoya’s super license
The FIA has decided that Juan Pablo Montoya has done a great job not making mistakes to justify removing the 2 penalty points on his super license. Regarding the decision, Max Mosley stated that since Montoya is considered to be a long shot for the driver’s championship, we feel that it’s best to do this right now instead of waiting after the race at Silverstone to do it as originally planned.
As a friendly reminder, after the next round at Silverstone there will be a second in-season test, so plan ahead on your upgrade plans!

Spyker is on the fast-track for entry into F1.
GIven the problems that Super Aguri has in terms of finances, Spyker has decided that they will enter the 2007 season as a works team and they are just starting on the aero kit for their Lola Chassis, which is about to be crash-tested by the FIA. Their engines are pretty much finished in terms of system checks. Regarding the chance that Super Aguri makes it to 2007, Spyker's CEO said that "we would be on the F1 grid in some capacity no matter what happens to Super Aguri, whatever it would be a new works team or a customer engine to a current F1 team, we will be there when the time comes."
In regards of posting your test plans for the in-season test at Silverstone, if you haven’t posted your plans yet, you have 48 hours from the time of this post to do so.
