Obviously Silverstone is a very different track to Austria, with many more high-speed corners that will suit our car better.
We've also got a few updates, including a front wing and floor, some different combinations of aerodynamic parts to try and some
new set-up concepts to explore. It's a home race for the team so we'd like nothing more than to put on a good show in front of
our factory staff and all the loyal fans in the grandstands.

I was in Montmelo in May and watched her during day two of the Catalunya test and that time she drove #41.
I imagine she has to keep that number for her remaining F1 career just like the regular drivers?

But really, I was happy to see Susie really going for it that day. I stood at the entry to turn 13 on the Wednesday for a good half hour watching her and comparing her to the others. She kept up a good pace to be honest. A couple times she went almost flat through there and that was nice to see.
She had a moment going into turn 10 and ran wide a bit, and Rachel Brookes () told me she had a spin early in the morning which I unfortunately missed.
Not much else than that, she drove steadily otherwise.

She was 5th/10 on the Wednesday and her time would have been good enough for 5th/11 on the Tuesday. She was half a second quicker than Massa even.
Yes she had a much sunnier and warmer track than Felipe, but still not too shabby. She didn't make a fool of herself, quite the opposite.
I was kind of expecting her to be driving a bit off the pace, but she did well.
Rahel is still faster than you though, Susie. ; )

I agree. For an F1 driver there seems to be some deep seated insecurities knocking about where to be Lewis Hamilton isn't enough, as if he feels he doesn't have it in himself to deal with whatever so he needs to evoke the spirit of some older sporting spirit to see him through it. You don't hear Max Chilton spouting out all this guff, do you?

Strange, sad and tedious.

And she hadn't even gotten out of the FW36 yet!

I see some reflections of myself in Marc. When I watch him, I'm always thinking: 'I would have done it like this.' Then he takes the exact lines I would have - and they work. It's really cool to see that.

I really want to try it one day. John Surtees won a world title on a bike and in a car, so it would be cool to do that, too.
It's easy to be popped off a bike, though, so you couldn't take the risk during an F1 season. But I'll definitely try it one day.

I agree, and it's one of the main areas where Rosberg has the upper hand on him.

I remember a quote from the 90's (may have been Martin Brundle) "Damon Hill talks about being confident but Michael Schumacher just is." Often the more you big yourself up, the less secure you sound.

Except that Marc Marquez is the closest anybody has been to winning all races in the top class of a Grand Prix motorcycle racing season since Giacomo Agostini managed it in 1968, while Hamilton is currently trailing Rosberg in the standings. Also, John Surtees started out on motorcycles (as, incidentally, did Mike Hailwood, another Grand Prix motorcycle champion who later raced in Formula One), which really seems to me to be the way to do it if you want to challenge for wins in both motorcycles and cars. Not forgetting, of course, that it was a different time period with different constraints on both motorcycles and Formula One cars. Back then, they were still running the Isle of Man TT as a Grand Prix motorcycle event!

While I personally find Hamilton to be a bit whiny and self-absorbed, I actually am prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt for the Ali quote. Finding Ali inspirational and quoting the 'rope-a-dope' thing is such an overused sporting cliche that it seems almost mandatory to use at least once in a sporting career.
