Brun: I like mountain hairpin things, so yay for that. Though the race will eventually be moved to the loop in Schluein for practicality.
Larrauri: No complaints. The first 3km is the best, but everything else is great too. Like Takagi, it makes me wish Hometown GP still existed.
Rondeau: You know, I don't make a track in every single place I search. If the roads aren't good, I just move on.
van de Poele: Another tedious one. Not much I can say.
Deletraz: ...
Lavaggi: I'd put the start/finish somewhere else, but flowy tight mountain road+flowy fast mountain road=want.
Sassetti: What's the point?
Life: Yeah, it annoys me when the road it finds is just a short dead end too.
Mazzacane: Too much of the same corner with two different corners. How about that.
Stohr: Might be an okay short track if the long straights weren't so long.

I was actually inspired by the rejects (or not) themselves to build these tracks. Let me explain further.

Nakano - Panis and Trulli made him look very ordinary
Tagaki - Somewhat erratic
Heyer - Rejectful
Gachot - He was good, but wasn't able to get out of slow cars until the straights hit
McCarthy - Fun was his autobiography (good and bad kind)
Brun - Did well, but not in F1
Rondeau - I find him a little bland
van de Poele - He could do well here in an attrition race
Deletraz - Another place to go slow and perform antics. Look at that chicane! Perfect for ze brake tezt!
Lavaggi - He'd make a paydriver legend here
Sassetti - Short lived team principal. Short lived track.
Life - Life is short, whether the GP team or our lives. Or look at the Life GP Series. Some cars there last less than that length before they expire!
Mazzacane - Pretty bad
Stohr - Blown away by his teammate and others

There you have it. Inspiration while using the same roads.

Fair enough, the metaphor idea is pretty cool, and it makes the good tracks better. No excuse for making boring tracks, though.

Nice flow, but I think its too unsafe for most racing series.

I have some more circuits.

This one was to be expected.

Just not realistic nowadays.

Hunagoring is in some parts really nice but in some parts really bad, I tried making it better.

The stadium at the upper right made the circuit a little bit unusable so this might have fixed it if it wasn't removed.

Buddh international circuit had a nice last sector, but one uneeded chicane and the other sectors had too much hairpins meant it could have been better.

People who also watched Champ Car in the past and Indycar nowadays might know this circuit.

I always hated this circuit, especially those weird chicanes.

They say this circuit will be back in 2015, I believe they have to change some run-off or circuit parts to make it happen.

Did you watch the IndyCar races at Houston this year? Because those races were fantastic. The track might be in a parking lot, but it's very entertaining and needs no changes.

Also, your change to the final corner at Mexico City involves the track running straight through a baseball stadium. I dunno if it's being used anymore though.

I didn't watch it this year, but I did saw during the 2007 champ Car race that all the action took place on the parts I left unedited. I just thought some of the 90 degree corners had to be removed.

As for using the baseball stadium in Mexico, Cart used to run through it so I don't think that will be a problem.

It looks a lot like Monaco indeed, but more flowing.

As I saw some Long Beach tracks I thought i'd give it a go as well.
This is for F1. First corner altered so you create more runoff when cornering to the left. A faster back straight but enough ways to create some more runoff and a new hairpin.

Either those or a 2km long straight

But I would remove the chicane just before the Start bit. I feel it's a bit too awkward and doesn't flow that much.

The other day I thought about trying my hand at a hometown track. My hometown of Wicklow actually hosted a gruelling sportscar race back in the '50s called the Leinster Trophy. It attracted many big names from the world of motor racing (most of them British), such as F1 rejects Desmond Titterington (who won it in 1952), Don Beauman (who was killed in the 1955 race), David Piper (the 1955 winner), Brian Naylor (1956 winner), Ian Stewart and Joe Kelly as well as Peter Whitehead and 1958 World Champion Mike Hawthorn (winner of the 1951 edition).

The circuit was typical of the road circuits of the day: Fast, bumpy and at over 13.6 km it was long. I can't find any track map so here's my best guess on the layout based on what's been described to me (one or two of the roads I used didn't exist at the time): http://www.mappedometer.com/?maproute=351090

And here are two shorter fantasy layouts of my own design, both using parts of the old circuit which I'm definitely sure were used. Of course there are many problems such as speed bumps, the width of the track and safety in general but bathplug it.

I think it's easier to find on Google if you're outside Ireland.

All the results I was getting were either the Wicklow Circuit Court, the modern day Leinster Trophy which is held at Mondello or results connected to Irish motor racing in general (which are scarce given its lack of popularity here :roll:

). Any results that had anything to do with the old race had no pictures whatsoever. Anyway, I was looking through my dad's collection of local history books and came across this, which has a map of the circuit (the pit lane was in a different place to where I thought it was). It's very short, only 32 pages, but has some nice photographs of beautiful old Aston Martins, Jaguars, Maseratis, Ferraris and the like. It's weird seeing pictures of these magnificent machines going at racing speeds past houses that I've passed nearly every time I've left the town! It says that Peter Whitehead holds the lap record, at about 5:40 in an Aston Martin DB3S - about 88 mph. It would be great to see racing on the roads of Ireland again instead of having just about everything noteworthy at Mondello, but that's another topic altogether...

firstly, I decided to move turn 2 furthur away to try and promote
overtaking, I then added a 5th gear chicane between turns 3 and 4 on
the current circuit. I then rounded off turns 4 and 7 on the current
track before extending the run to turn 9 and rounding the tighter 2nd
apex from turn 10,the only other change I did after that was extend
the final hairpin slightly.

I started by making a flowing esse bend on the straight between turns
3 and 4 before turning my attention to the endurance layout. The
endurence layout has been made more flowing with some paribolica's,
after this the cars brake for the turn 8 hairpin which leads into the
new turn 9 which is a lot faster than it is at the moment. The next
thing I did was make turns 12,13,14 a triple apex sweeper and to end
the lap the cars bake for a more rounded off final turn.

Firstly, I modified the first 2 turns to promote overtaking, then the
cars arrive at the Nissan chicane which can be taken in 4th/5th gear.
Turn 10 now has a sharper entry and a more sweeping exit, then the
cars enter a new extension as they go through a sweeping s bend into a
tight hairpin before the cars go down a straight into a tight chicane
built so that the cars can go through the final 2 turns as they were
meant to be taken.

Firstly, used the chicane after turn 4 to keep the flow going, after
that the cars go through turn 5 which is now a hairpin, the track
follows a short straight into the hairpin at turn 6 which is now
followed up with another short straight back onto the gp circuit.
Turn 10 has now become a hairpin which has a fast esse bend flowing
it, the final mod is the final 2 turns which have been rounded off to
create 1 sweeping turn.

The cars start the lap by going around the old curva 1 and curva 2
before blasing down the retao straight, the cars then enter a tight
chicane before the old curva 3 due to the lack of run off, the cars
the follow the the old track to feradura which has been moved forward
because after that, the cars come through the sweeper at subida do
lago before its down the reta opista. Ater that there is the longer
curva do sol before the new sweeping senna s leading directey into
sargento, the cars then come around the sweeping laranja corner onto
the current track. The final mod I made is a chicane on the
arquibancadas to slow the cars for the first 2 turns.

Now the 2 new tracks from this year... (2014)
