At least now the entire grid from that year can now form up again in heaven...

It's a bad month for veteran French racing drivers it seems. Although I'm sure Robert's long life was a happy one. RIP.

RIP Robert. 97 is a hell of an age.
This leaves Stirling Moss as the earliest Formula 1 driver still alive (he is the only driver left from 1951, as far as I can tell.)

Re: R.I.P. Robert Manzon
RIP Robert. Just two and a bit years away from the big 100 as well.
Whilst I believe Moss is the only living driver to have participated in 1951, young Stirling's a mere whippersnapper compared to Eric Thompson, who takes over the position of oldest living F1 driver. However, there is the case of Robert La Caze, who entered an F2 car into the 1958 Monaco GP. I'm not sure if he's eligible for the title of oldest living F1 driver.

It is quite powerful to think that none of those few from the beginning are left anymore. To even be counted among those drivers is an honour I could only wish to possess.

RIP he was kinda good ended twice on the podium and raced untill 1956.
If im correct there is still a driver living from the 1950 season , but im not sure if it was F1 or Formula Libre.
Think his familyname was Simon.

If you're thinking of André Simon, he only competed in non-F1 Grands Prix in 1950, and he passed away in 2012.

I remember having him in one of my alternative Championships with Gordini and did quite a bit of research on him to find out who he really was. Bit of a living legend in my eyes. A sad day.
