One of the best liveries ever.

Me too! Didn't want to be the first to mention it round here....
"will you stop him playing tennis then?", referring to Montoya's famous shoulder injury, to which Whitmarsh replied "well, it's very difficult to play tennis on a motorbike"
That's the one I meant above - different scraps of colour and logos floating all over the place with no proper design.
And I thought the MasterCard Lola livery was quite nice - not as attractive as the Shannon Forti though.
I quite liked this car, probably because it featured on the first F1 poster I had (which I got free from a garage that was presumably advertising Castrol).
I too thought the Mastercard Lola was nice - but hated the Shannon Forti livery. And it wasn't around long enough for it to grow on me...

Am I the only person here that likes it? Apart from the nosecone I think it looks ok. Yeah, its not the traditional white/green or white/blue, but nobody has complained about the blue Ferrari yet. (can't remember when it was exactly, mid 60s I think).

Blue? I only remember Olivier Gendebien's yellow Ferrari:
But that was OK, as Gendebien was Belgian, and Belgium's racing colour was yellow. Back then the national colours thing was taken quite seriously. Today it's only Ferrari and Mercedes that still have the original racing colours, more or less.
There was a blue Ferrari. It was a one off with a tobacco sponsor...but I can't remember the brand. Was at a street race of some sort I believe. Maybe a 312B? Not sure...
Novitopoli wrote:Everytime someone orders at Pizza Hut, an Italian dies.
Maybe...but I'm sure I remember in an issue of F1 Racing at some point in 2006, they did a small feature on unique liveries - and a light blue Ferrari was in it. At first I thought it was Regazzoni at Long Beach 1976, but that was just standard Rosso Corsa. So I'm not sure on that one... Also featured were the BAR half and half livery, Jaguar Oceans Twelve livery (rather apt, both were crap), Red Bull's Star Wars livery and the black nosecone on the Ferrari when Pope John Paul II died, plus when Minardi ran a 'John Boy' livery when one of their staff died...must have been 2002, Webber's sponsor Trust got up and left after that.

I don't have any historical Williams-based hatred of it, I just think it's a bit ugly aesthetically!

Enzo fell out with the Italian motorsport body, so ran his cars in the blue and white of the "North American Racing Team" (a team name used for Ferraris that had been exported to US customers and competed in events there) as a protest. I think the dispute was about the homologation of a Ferrari GT car.

I like the color scheme for the car, but not so many decals.

The 1996/7 years were pretty poor in the looks department, but i think the 97 challenger takes the cake. White, Yellow and Black are Minardi's colours, but you need to know how to put them together. Mild Seven's blue made it all the more messy.
I must jump in defense of this colour scheme. I loved it and found it the best alongside with Sauber's in 1997.
I concur. Somehow I think, with the sole exceptions of Tyrrell and Sauber (sorry, their past 1996-liveries were mostly bland), 1997 was the year of beautiful liveries.

Especially the clown-livery of the Lolas
I loved the livery on the Lo-lo-lo-lo-lolas. The Stewart SF1 looked great in white with the tartan strips.
Nissanymania! Friday has never been the same since.

I don't think it's ugly at all. I know how you feel though-seems I'm the only one who loves the special 1993 Gitanes livery on the Ligiers that had for the two last races of the season.
Thank you for posting the "North American Racing Team" livery. I had never heard of this story. The blue and white Ferrari looks really intriguing. Maybe the recreation of the "North American Racing Team" would be a way to circumvent the testing ban?

I agree with both of your choices. The 1994 Arrows was a beautiful car with an unusual but attractive livery (in my opinion). Pretty fast too, until the hasty rules changes at the Spanish race. The special Gitanes livery of the Ligier was beautiful! Designed by the great Hugo Pratt, writer and comic-book artist.
