Yep! Well over in my case as has been documented before.

A few days later, in daylight, we pushed the car out onto the public highway again, and into the car park of the local library, where there was a nice background for some more photos.
It was so different back in the day. Even the top teams often struggled for cash, slept in the rigs begged parts etc....
In many ways it was much more fun.
GLTL & Sir Jackie brought the "big business" idea to F1.....Bernie was just a failed driver/sometime entrant in those days!!!!!!

Simtek it is. They had the coolest name ever - any arguments there? - great livery, promise, tech capacity... you just get the feeling it could all have been so much different, had there been money! Besides, the tragic bit surrounding Ratzenberger is still deeply engraved in my memory, I saw it live, sitting in my grandma's bed.
I have to say Osella. They scored 0 point from 1985 to 1990, that is certainly a benchmark in rejectdom. But the sight of Nicola Larini racing like a bat out of hell in the wet Montreal circuit in 1989 and running as high as 3rd place before the usual unreliability issues made him drop out of the race was something awesome. Only in the last Belgian GP, I saw something of the same magnitude.
A fan of Roberto Pupo Moreno, the one and only, the legend!

Begging for a "Wayne Rooney" joke.
(Sorry totally inappropriate, but couldn't resist it)

I'm afraid you're gonna have to be make it clearer, my friend. Despite being a proud Mancunian since last September, and reading about the city's history, all I know about the gent in question is he kicks balls for a living.

That's about $157,710. I have about $40 dollars in my bank account. Only $157,670 to go.
Best quote ever

He allegedly had an affair with an older woman. (I did say it was inappropriate). Is sometimes referred to as Grannysh*****.

Oh dear. This has just made even happier that I don't watch football...
There's always Cricket.
Does anyone else think that the Connew was also a pretty good looking F1 car?

I'm glad I threw the Connew name into this one, although I have banged on about it before!

I have to say Forti as they were the true last very small privateer team. Super Aguri my second best team but remember they were really a Second Honda Team.
Mechanical Engineering Student Bias view of F1 Forti F1 Fan TeamTipper for 2011 entry lol HWSNBM as my No.1 driver Formula One Rejects as my main sponsor
I would also like to mention Tecno, Token (AKA Lyncar) & Maki.

Or Kojima (only contested the Japanese GPs of 1976 and 1977, with the first and only well and truly Japanese crew; they even used Bridgestones much before anyone else): their driver Masahiro Hasemi scored the fastest lap at the 1976 Japanese GP

Maybe there's something to go on there, or perhaps just coincidence.
The Ascaris were Benettons which Klaas Zwart bought as a wholesale lot from Benetton when they decided to have a clear out. I know a guy who was a mechanic with them and in their sportscar and Le Mans campaigns as well. In total, they had 9 chassis, although never more than 4 were running at any time. The chassis ranged from 1993 to 1997 and ran Judd V10s, because for obvious reasons they couldn't get Renault V10s and factory Ford V8 engines. Other than that, the cars were pretty much as they ran in F1 races. The gearbox had been slightly modified, mostly in the software, to remove the pneumatic actuation and make it cheaper to run. No one really knows where the devil Zwart got his money from, but there were persistent rumours of less-than-savoury activities.

I too must say that I love the Connew story. It comes from a time when there were real stories in F1, I miss that nowadays, everything is way too corporate and you can only get into F1 with a budget of millions of pounds. That's why I like teams like Stefan so much, they are the modern privateers, minnows who work really hard to get in F1 and struggle against many difficulties. That's why I think it's weird that they're being criticized for being like that by the same people who praise teams from, say, the 70s for the exact same reasons. Isn't it what we love so much about F1, what F1 Rejects is all about?

Connew has long been a favoutite of mine.
Much as I want Stefan in this year, I don't really think of them as a privateer in the same way. after all they seem to be at the moment Toyota by another name & have state backing apparently.
If they do get in can we expect them to be "recalled" shortly afterwards?

I have since found out from a bloke at work that Klaas Zwart made his money through his former majority shareholding in an oil and gas industry company called Weatherford, where he pioneered some different method of packing and deploying oil well drilling equipment. He sold his share in the company for an obscene amount of money.
