I can top that, when my pa and step-ma lived in California their neighbours were Bill "R.E.M." Berrys grandparents.

Or Auntie and Uncle. One of the two.

Well crash.net have a small picture gallery here. I'm not too good at telling car shapes from one another until someone points them out to me but apart from the shark-fin that car looks very 2009 to me. It has a very flat nose and bulky sidepods which few other teams have gone for. They haven't changed their livery but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Here are some images of the VJM03 in super-duper high resolution for you to mull over...(posted as links as they'd make this thread take hours to load )

Notice how the shark fin really is attached to the rear wing - and there is a joint aligned just in front of the rear wing space allowed by the regulations to seperate the rear wing ang engine cover from each other.

Also, Autosport managed to get a spyshot of the new Lotus!

This is a feature shared with Sauber and McLaren (and possibly Renault too) this year, isn't it?

Probably - I hadn't seen any good enough photos to know for sure what was going on with it - considering the shark fins weren't as long as now last year I didn't know what to think!

Agreed, although it will probably look better at the actual launch.

As for the Force India, me likey

Yellow wheels is about the only thing Lotus in the Fondmetal Team Malaysia project.

OK, now that the Lotus/FTM is out, I will finally stick my neck out and rank the appearances:

1. Lotus/FTM - it's history, it's tradition, it's green and gold/yellow
2. Mercedes - the airbox/engine cover is overwhelmingly mega
3. Renault - OK, yellow is my favourite colour
4. Virgin - looking more plain by the day
5. Toro Rosso - I actually prefer it over the Red Bull
6. McLaren - radical design gets the nod from me
7. Red Bull - nothing new under the sun
8. Force India - ditto
9. Sauber - decent design, but needs better livery
10. Ferrari - plain old Jane
11. Williams - ditto

My current favourite F1 livery is the Force 1ndia. It may be roughly the same as last year, but the Brawn GP livery is not around anymore this year. The Mercedes livery is not really my taste, just like the McLaren: too much silver.

The Sauber livery with the black, white and a red lining is kind of a mixture of the color schemes that PP Sauber AG had before they joined F1. The way the colors are painted is very reminiscent of last year's livery. The only thing that looks worrying about this livery is the apparent lack of sponsorship.

Renault have made a step up from the ugly liveries of the previous two years but the bee design clearly lacks a healthy splash of white in it. This livery clearly shows that the Benetton era in F1 is over. I miss the light blue and green.

Ferrari, well, they will always be Ferrari red just like RBR will always be dark blue and Toro Rosso will have a bull on the engine cover. It would have been nice, though, if Toro Rosso put a differently stylized bull onto the cover this time around.

The Williams looks very functional and the blue and white livery adds to that. It does look better than the Sauber which also looks very functional.

The Virgin Manor looks somewhat like expected after their launch. You people on this thread are right: it looks like a Midland. I would have hoped it would reflect more the colours that Manor Grand Prix had.

The new Lotus, well, it doesn't get me as excited as most of you. To be honest, the 1994 Lotus looked better to me when it comes to the colour scheme because it wasn't as dark as the new one. But it's more important that the car is fast.

1) Force 1ndia
2) Williams
3) Ferrari
"I don't think we should be used to finance (the manufacturers') R&D because they will produce that engine anyway" said Monisha Kaltenborn.
"You will never see a Mercedes using a Ferrari engine or the other way round."

0. USF1 - you just know if they can do anything - they can come up with an 'awesome' 'color' scheme!
1. Lotus/FTM - favourite team from my 'youth' are back and look like i dreamt they would
2. Renault - love the retro look - if it wasn't for the 'lotus' name written on the other car this would be my favourite
3. Force India - i think this looks really smart
4. Virgin - this is nice
5. Ferrari - c'mon, its a FERRARI!
6. Toro Rosso - defiantly nicer than the Red Bull
7. Sauber - has potential (and 'Kobayashi' written on the side) but looks 'unfinished'
8. Red Bull - same as it ever was
9. Mercedes - doesn't do anything for me
10. McLaren - same as it ever was pt.2 - would have been nice to see them move away from the mercedes colours.
11. Williams - dullest car on the grid
12. Campos - we aint never going to see it.
Sakon Yamamoto - Not bad for a third driver

By the way, what's with mounting rear view mirrors on the sidepods? I hate it, and last year Ferrari were the only ones to do it, now I've seen at least three teams doing it.

Okay, I think it is time to dig up this post and add more cars now:

1. Lotus
2. Ferrari
3. Force India
4. Virgin
5. Williams
6. Mercedes
7. Toro Rosso
8. Renault (the livery is beautiful, but I don't like the car)
9. Sauber
10. McLaren
11. Red Bull

The Lotus is beautiful when the sun shines on it and you can see the beautiful metallicky shade of bluish green they used, but when it's darker it's a bit bland. (I suppose it won't be much fun to look at in Singapore). By the way, I thought there weren't many differences in the way of aesthetics (unlike last year, when the Renault and BMW Sauber were CLEARLY the ugliest cars of the lot), so this ranking is pretty random. I don't really like the Lotus car, it's a bit blocky and doesn't stand out, but at least there's nothing about it that stands out as ugly, either, so combined with the colour that's why I think it's the nicest looking car.
I still wish there would be a car one day that you would look at and say "WOW!" and see it as a work of art every time you looked at it... maybe one day...~

Well, with all cars unveiled, I'll add my ranking (a bit late):
1-Virgin
2-McLaren
3-Renault
4-Red Bull
5-Toro Rosso
6-Ferrari
7-Williams
8-Sauber
9-Force India
10-Lotus
11-Mercedes

If someone digs up pictures of all the teams and posts them here:

a) I'll be eternally grateful.

and

b) We'll probably get the input of a lot more people.

I know it's hard for me to keep track of what 11 different cars look like.

Nice, Phoenix, but that's not the actual Mercedes W01 on that picture, that's the old Brawn car with the new livery. Otherwise well done (though you could have picked better pictures, but I shouldn't complain...)

Alright, going to do this one in reverse order. Going from worst to best.

Mercedes (boring)
Toro Rosso (way too much going on)
Red Bull (a little better, but not much)
Sauber (changing the blue to black does not get rid of the BMW-style paintjob you still have)
Ferrari (not complaining about the white, because I like the contrast, but I think the black looks ridiculous)
McLaren (that sidepod paintjob is weird, but I do like the color combination)
Williams (I like the more royal-blue paint, and the fact that there's more of it)
Force India (it's distinctive and it has orange in it, but it doesn't go overboard)
Virgin (red and black is a little played out, but the ghosted designs in the paint look fantastic)
Lotus (I like the juxtaposition of old and new, plus green and yellow is by far my favorite color combination {for obvious reasons that aren't obvious to most of you})
Renault (there is beauty in that bumblebee; it's quite distinctive and it hearkens back to the halcyon days of Renault pioneering the modern turbo)

It is the Merc W01 all right - not humps on the nose and thingy over the airbox intake. They're still using last year's Brawn wings, mario tells us.

FFffff... that sneaky son of a banana changed the picture to a picture with the actual W01 after I posted and before you did.

Also, thehemogoblin, are you sure there's more blue on the Williams than last year? Because frankly, I don't see it, the liveries look exactly the same to me. It would be cool if someone could post pictures of both of them, so we could compare.

You would think given the way USF1 have managed themselves so far that they would have come up with a more imaginitive design for their car. Unless you're right and the image on the left is their B-Spec design.
