Hyundai F1 (supposed to be in 2010)

I remember reading about future involvement of this car manufacturer in F1 a couple of years ago. Well that future is now and obviously there is no trace of a Hyundai F1 team even with Korean GP on schedule and it's probably because of the whole BIGGEST ECONOMICAL CRISIS SINCE THE GREAT DEPRESSION thing. However I'd like to ask you good people of f1rejects if you know any more info about this project and maybe other past aborted manufacturer attempts or possible future manufacturers. Speculation is very welcome.

I think the chance to see a Hyundai F1 is the same as the chance to see USF1 on the grid.

I seem to recall that Hyundai weathered the recession better than most manufacturers. However, I can't imagine they would have been enthused about the mass manufacturer exodus during said recession.

I'd think they'd sooner consider rejoining the WRC since

a.) They don't really sell a performance car that F1 could possibly help promote...like Toyota...and Honda

b.) They've got a history in WRC, so theoretically resuming a programme would be somewhat...easier

c.) The S2000 regulations should suit a tiny little Hyundai well

d.) I can just hear Richard Hammond saying 'hyoooooooooondaaaaaaaiiiii'

If Ssangyong did enter F1, their car would make the 2008 Honda (with all its ugly winglets, dumbo wings and stepped barge boards) actually look good .

For adding new aero parts to Vauxhall Vectras?

I don't think Super Aguri were highly praised (by the general public) for bolting new parts onto the Arrows A23...which is basically the same.

That might explain why any attempt to make the car look vaguely attractive went out of the window very early on - it looks like the automotive equivalent of a 60's concrete tower block.

We have had one manufacturer of quirky cars that haven't sold well recently being bought by an even smaller manufacturer of quirky cars that don't sell well at all - niether of whom have made any money at all for years. So, mcuh as I wish them success, how long until they run out of cash?
