2020 FIA North American Formula 4 Championship
Wiki Page: https://formularejects.com/wiki/2020_No ... a_4_season
Notable changes will be described in this font or this font
Season 3 of NAF4, with a couple of changes to tighten the loose ends.
Cars
Chassis (Crawford Composites) will remain the same, while Honda will update their engine to the K20C4. This engine is slightly more powerful, but teams may experience worse reliability exposed over the season.
Thank you to This Could be You for providing an F4 chassis for Grand Prix 2.
Drivers
Real life and fictional drivers are allowed. The Drivers must be at least 15 years old. You must confirm a driver's age on their profile page.
I would like at least some real-life drivers in the series, but I will not be putting any restrictions on the use of fictional drivers. Real-life drivers will be chosen through an RNG to see if they accept an offer or not. For fictional drivers please put the DEC of the owner and any background in regards to previous series.
North and Central American drivers will take first priority, though drivers from the Caribbean and the rest of the Americas are welcome more often
than not. Drivers from any other region must have a pretty good story reason to race in this, otherwise they will be rejected.
This series is meant for drivers in the Americas to start their careers, so please be reasonable with driver choices.
As with Simtek's F4 series, any driver that races in more senior categories will likely NOT be accepted. F4 is designed
to be a first taste of motorsport for drivers leaving karting. Drivers are likely to be between 15 and 21 years old, but
I will take them case-by-case. I will discourage any driver that is 22 or older from competing, and will require a good reason to stay in the series.
The following drivers are 22 or older at the start of 2020. Fictional Drivers without wiki profiles will be counted as 22 unless otherwise noted:
Ben Carver
Armando Maldonado
Raphaël Florian
Stéphanie Sclia
River Archer
Mike Jones
Dany Jones
Jaime Goncalves
Teddy Golding
Chris di Longo
Penalties
I will be following the F4 Penalty system from now on: Here is the details provided by Simtek:
Drivers who commit any breach of regulations and/or dangerous on-track behavior will be given penalty points. Drivers who accumulate 20 penalty points will serve a one weekend ban, which applies across all FIA Formula 4 series worldwide. Drivers who accumulate 40 will serve a one calendar year ban from all F4 series. Penalty points expire 12 months from the date of issue, and roll over into the next season if applicable.
The full list of F4 drivers who currently have penalty points on their licence can be found in the spreadsheet linked below:
http://formularejects.com/f4penalties
Teams
The series will have 26 drivers spread through 13 teams. If 26 drivers and teams cannot be reached then I will allow
3-car teams. Teams should be based in North America, Central America, or the Caribbean, and those nationalities will get first
priority over teams from any other region of the world.
No constructors championship will be held for this series, only one for drivers.
Race Weekend
Race length is 30 miles. Each weekend will have 2 races per weekend.
Points will follow the F4 standard set by the Anglo-Irish championship:
1st: 15
2nd: 12
3rd: 10
4th: 8
5th: 6
6th: 5
7th: 4
8th: 3
9th: 2
10th: 1
Pole Position: 2
Calendar
To be determined, based on the calendar for Indycar and Indy Lights, as NAF4 follows the calendar closely to reduce transport costs for teams.
Since Indycar no longer as a person running it, the calendar may be subject to change depending on the final decision regarding the future of that series.
