Chapter 6: Hiring a Team ManagerHappy Friday the 13th, everybody! Yeah, being someone who was born on such a day, I never was the superstitious type. I’m simply happy to announce that I've found a little helper to get me and this project back on track!
So, let’s leave the teambuilding behind us and move on to the hiring process, shall we?
First up is the Team Manager – your connection to the sponsorship money. Of course, not every team needs a Team Manager per se, since you (as the Team Principal) can fill out this role just as effective. Based on your specific skills, that is.
If you already have a high enough team reputation that you’re satisfied with the reputation itself and the money that comes with it this season, then you might not be in need of a Team Manager at all. And that is fine, because you don’t actually have to hire one!
Yes, you’ve read me correctly there – hiring a Team Manager is optional! So, what does the Team Manager exactly do in this game, you might ask?
1.)
She increases your team’s reputation by a fix amount each season (from 1 to 6), as long as she stays on board. That comes from her connections to sponsors, which she brings on board (and keeps happy) to further help finance your operation.
2.) By increasing your team’s reputation, the Team Manager also succeeds in making your operation more interesting to manufacturers, drivers, and basically everyone else you want to hire. More on that later...
3.) Unlike any of the other staff members and drivers you’ll hire in the near future, the Team Manager has no special motivator other than doing the best job she can for your team. That means:
The Team Manager can never lose motivation, no matter what! The only downside to this is: The Team Manager wants to be paid – a lot, if she’s a capable one.
Bids start at 300.000 Credits per anno. To some of you, that might not sound like a lot of cash, but let me put it into perspective: A race-ready customer Porsche 911 GT3 costs around 250.000 Credits!
In this game, all available Team Managers are female (surprise, surprise).
You may only hire people from the list below. All these Team Managers are real people, just in case you might want to google them... Some are still active, some not, some not yet as Team Managers – that’s the good thing about not going by real-life seasons (which we aren’t)!
I’m not going to tell you how much increase in reputation any of these Team Managers will bring to your team, because that would enable powergaming, and we don’t want that! But here’s a small hint:
The more capable a certain Team Manager is, the more she’s going to negotiate her salary with you.Code: Select all

How to bid and The New DeadlineEach player can bid for 4 different Team Managers in this first round. Should you not want to hire a Team Manager at all, post a note stating that you wish to pass on this. As I’ve said, bidding starts at 300.000 Credits per anno. Of course, you may already try to gain an advantage by bidding more for a certain Team Manager, if you believe her to be worth that amount of money.
Former Team Managers with the skill „Contract Negotiations“ can’t use their skill when they’re the only one bidding for a certain Team Manager! You can use the skill as soon as I’ve collected all bids after the new deadline and the situation occurs in which you can put your skill to good use.
You have until Tuesday the 24th of July to post your bids. (I’ll cut this deadline short, if I receive all posts before that date.) Then I’ll evaluate your bids and get back to you.
Information Chapter: Women’s GT NewsAs one of your first actions as Team Principals in this series, you’ve all just subscribed to the Women’s GT News, the official newspaper gazette of this series. In it you will find articles about current on-goings, such as paddock talk, interviews, transfer rumors, presentations of new GT3 cars from competing and soon-to-enter manufacturers, and occasional gossip that might turn out to be true... or not.
It’s mainly meant to be my way of getting important in-game information out to you, but you may quote the Women’s GT News as well, if you like to. Of course, if you already have a trusted source for information you’d like to post as, feel free to do so!
As before, if you have any questions at all (about this or any of the previous chapters), feel free to ask!
