2005 Super 3000 Championship - BELGIAN 3000 RACE RESULTS
2005 Super 3000 Championship
At the end of the 2004 season, the International Formula 3000 Championship was no more, being replaced as the official Formula One feeder series by the GP2 Series, which would run as a supporting event to all of the European rounds of the Formula One World Championship in 2005. This left the International Formula 3000 Championship in a kind of limbo: they had a full fleet of cars and employees, but no series to run them in.
Rather than ceasing to be, International Formula 3000 has become the Super 3000 Championship, an independent multi-class championship which according to brand ambassador Bern Kash is intended to grow into the European answer to CART. The inaugural season will see events supporting several major racing series, including DTM, the European Le Mans Series and even on one occasion Moto GP.
As it is no longer an official Formula One feeder series, there will be no requirement for series champions to move on - although it is entirely possible that some champions may wish to do so, should they still harbour Formula One ambitions.
Follow these links to find out more about the series.

The 2005 Super 3000 calendar comprises twelve races: ten of them are 200km Championship rounds, while the other two are special stand-alone events. 2005 Super 3000 Championship Available Drivers
Ahead of the season, the following 83 drivers have expressed some interest in participating in the inaugural Super 3000 season. This does not mean that they are guaranteed to accept Super 3000 drives, nor that they are necessarily the only drivers available (you can approach other drivers for the Non-Championship rounds) but they are the only drivers who will accept full-season drives for 2005.
2005 Super 3000 Championship Machinery
Below is a full list of available machinery for the 2005 season. Machinery can either be purchased permanently by a team, or rented on a race-by-race basis.
The yellow-highlighted chassis and engine combine to make a spec STT2 car. On the other hand, entries using another chassis or engine will be eligible for the STT1 Championship.
So for example:
The yellow-highlighted chassis and engine combine to make a spec STT2 car. On the other hand, entries using another chassis or engine will be eligible for the STT1 Championship.
So for example:
- A Dallara T05 chassis will be part of an STT1 car, regardless of the engine.
- A Mugen MF308 engine will power an STT1 car, regardless of the chassis.
- A Lola B05/50 chassis, powered by the Zytek-Judd KV engine, is an STT2 car.
2005 Super 3000 Championship Rules and Gameplay
Greetings all, and welcome to the out-of-character bit of the thread index: the ever-important rules and gameplay section, with which I can temper your expectations.
First of all, The Rules that govern the Championship:
And now, how is The Gameplay going to work?
This page is always subject to change, because I may realise that I've missed things or wish to add new game mechanics.
First of all, The Rules that govern the Championship:
- At Championship races, teams may enter no more than two cars. More than two cars are allowed for non-Championship races. However, there is no obligation to always enter two cars.
- STT1 cars involve any non-standard chassis and/or engines, for example the Dallara T05 or Mugen MF308.
- STT2 cars use a standard Lola B05/50 chassis and Zytek-Judd KV engine.
- Championship points are allocated using a 10-6-4-3-2-1 system to the top six finishers in their class. STT1 entrants and STT2 entrants are counted separately, although the overall race results list them together.
- Prize money will be awarded to the top ten overall race finishers as follows: 50k-36k-30k-24k-20k-16k-12k-8k-4k-2k. Double prize money will be distributed at the non-Championship Pau Grand Prix and Pan-European 500.
- Race distance on non-oval circuits is the first completed lap after the 200km mark.
- Teams can go into debt during the season, but should they still have negative finances by 1st January, they will be declared bankrupt and lose their place in the series.
And now, how is The Gameplay going to work?
- Firstly, please sign up with which team you want. Teams are first-come first-serve.
- The next stage will be for teams to indicate which machinery they wish to purchase ahead of the 2005 season. Should a certain chassis or engine be oversubscribed, the decision will be made by RNG.
- After that, teams will nominate their drivers. In the case of conflicting bids on a driver, a tie-breaker will be held via secret auction in which the highest bidder gets the services of their chosen driver; however, a driver will always prefer a full-time offer to a part-time one.
- For non-Championship races, teams may choose not to enter both of their regular cars/drivers. They may also choose to enter more than two, by hiring extra machinery and offering one-off deals to unsigned drivers. This is also the only time you may be able to get a driver from off the list.
- For Championship races, teams should still specify which driver is using which machinery in that race. Similarly, if they choose to fire and replace a driver mid-season, they can do so. (Pay-drivers withhold sponsorship money at a rate of 10% per missed race, including non-Championship events.)
- Throughout the season, each team should end up with a plot question, a situation specific to your team which demands an answer. This could make or break your team's prospects.
- At the end of the season, specify which drivers you wish to retain - or not.
- At the end of the season, teams will also get the chance to vote on rule and/or calendar changes.
This page is always subject to change, because I may realise that I've missed things or wish to add new game mechanics.

Plot Question: Coloni and their ties with Minardi
Ahead of the 2005 season, Coloni Motorsport must decide whether they wish to continue their relationship with the Minardi F1 Team. The conditions are as follows:
- Coloni Motorsport must include at least one Minardi-affiliated driver in their line-up for every race.
- Coloni Motorsport will have first refusal for all Minardi-affiliated drivers.
- Minardi F1 Team will not make a financial contribution to the running of Coloni Motorsport, as they barely have the money to run themselves.
- Should Minardi F1 Team wiish to replace any of their Formula One drivers, only Coloni can claim the Minardi driver who loses his F1 race seat.
- Should Coloni wish to end their partnership with Minardi, no Minardi-affiliated drivers would be available to them.
Do Coloni wish to retain their links to Minardi or forge ahead as an independent team?

Coloni will choose to keep their Minardi partnership going, for now at least.

At this rate, I'm terrible at the front, middle, and back of the field, so I'll let the admin pick a spot for me if it's allowed. otherwise I'll just pick whatever is left over to crash into the ground.
And as a note, are you racing at Monza or Imola for the Italian 3000?

Hmmm... this is a lot of power to have. Would you like DAMS, and the chance to start with all the advantages?

Is there going to be a price guide on the drivers or do we just bid what we think each driver is worth?

"Standard arrangement" means that a driver will neither cost the team money, nor bring the team money. As this continues the legacy of a real-life junior series, I feel like this is a simple enough way to handle the fact that drivers have to pretty much cover their own costs at that level of competition. A note is made of drivers who bring money into the team though.
In future seasons, if they happen and the finance system works okay, there will be an increase in paid drivers as Super 3000 gains prestige

Hard mode sounds good, I guess we need some STT2 entries too.
Durango it is. Loved their GP2 liveries back in the day.

Okay thanks for that Aislabie! I was trying to work out a way to afford a good car and some decent drivers having to pay them but you’ve made it easier for me to work it out now.

Interesting idea, hope it takes off. I'll take Zele Racing, feel like making a pay-driver empire.

Plot Question: DAMS and their ties with Toyota
Ahead of the 2005 season, Driot-Arnoux Motorsport must decide whether they wish to continue their relationship with the Panasonic Toyota Racing. The conditions are as follows:
- DAMS must field two Toyota-affiliated drivers for every Championship and non-Championship race.
- Should Panasonic Toyota Racing require a DAMS driver, they will provide a suitable replacement.
- Toyota-affiliated drivers for DAMS must be provided with STT1 machinery.
- Should DAMS wish to end their partnership with Toyota, no Toyota-affiliated drivers would be available to them.
- Toyota also wish to offer DAMS the option of a 200,000 investment to secure a top-three finish in the STT1 Drivers Championship. However, should they fail to provide a return on that investment (top-three), Toyota will end their partnership.
Do DAMs wish to retain their links to Toyota with the performance objective, retain their links to Toyota with the performance objective, or end their relationship with Toyota?

Umm, is the Minardi stuff copy-pasted? I'm a bit confused by this event...

DAMS will Stay with Toyota and take the performance objective. Unless you posted the same choice twice on purpose?

Yep, you're listed.
We currently only have eight teams taken; I'll give it one more week to see if anybody else signs up then we'll get things going. I may also take one team to look after myself for the time being, obviously without any sort of favouritism to myself.
Re: 2005 Super 3000 Championship - SIGN-UPS OPEN
My apologies for the delay here; my laptop bit the dust, and then when I had sorted a replacement I had to focus more on uni assignments and getting things sorted ready for next year. Now I have everything back, I should be able to get down to it with this series either tonight or tomorrow

If y'all have any questions, just ask!

Re: 2005 Super 3000 Championship - BUY YOUR CHASSIS AND ENGI
Since DAMs has 1,200,000 for taking Toyota's bonus objective, I'd like to ask: Will we need to repair or purchase new chassis should any of the engines or chassis we purchase sustain damage?

I don't currently have a damage cost model because I want some wiggle room in case it turns out that the financial model is horribly unbalanced, so no worries at the moment

In that case, DAMS will bid for the following:
Dallara GP2/05 (2x, 300.000 each)
Mugen MF308 (1x, 250.000)
Nissan VQ35DE (1x, 150.000)
Both are STT1 entries.
