Racing Point to rebrand as Aston Martin
Racing Point to rebrand as Aston Martin
So, after a period of speculation, it has now been confirmed that Stroll shall be taking a 20% stake of Aston Martin as part of an emergency funding package for Aston Martin.
In turn, with Aston Martin's partnership with Red Bull ending this year, the company will start sponsoring Racing Point from 2021 onwards, which shall take up the Aston Martin name. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-51323241
Guess that might mean that the old article I did on Aston Martin's rejectful efforts might need some reworking then...

Martin Brundle, on watching a replay of Grosjean spinning:
"The problem with Grosjean is that he want to take a look back at the corner he's just exited"

Re: Racing Point to rebrand as Aston Martin
May it do better than Aston Martin's previous attempt at F1, using a Ferrari engine no less.
We had an article on it from the old F1rejects site too.

I like this because anything is more interesting than "Racing Point".

There are some that are close:
Toleman > Benetton > Renault > Lotus > Renault (although contains repetition of Renault)
Tyrrell > BAR > Honda > Brawn > Mercedes

Re: Racing Point to rebrand as Aston Martin
I agree, Racing Point is probably the most boring name for a team in the entire universe. On that front at least it's an improvement
But so the situation won't take effect until next year? Ok. Will they have an effect on decisions and everything in 2020 at all?
Most importantly, will the cars still be pink?

You could also include the mid season name changes
Jordan > Midland > Spyker MF1 > Spyker > Force India > Racing Point Force India > Racing Point > Aston Martin
I like the way Snrub thinks!
Re: Racing Point to rebrand as Aston Martin
I would like it if it were green, because that would also loop back nicely to the first Jordan in 1991.
But if BWT stays, that would mean it could be pink and green, which would look... horrendous.

MOTOR RACING IS DANGEROUS

If the car's not pink and green, I'm going to be very upset.

My eyes are burning at the memory!
As an aside, did Dave Pinkney drive that car? Any pink car on the grid was often associated with him. Even more so than with Fiona Leggate, I seem to recall?
