Mr. B.M. Weitzmann, the new team principal of BMW McLaren BMW, has revealed that there are many legal issues still left to resolve regarding the team's switch to German manufacturer backing for 2022. One of which happens to be the embarrassing fact that his predecessor Zak Brown failed to secure exclusivity rights for the McLaren team with their new BMW engine. Weitzmann points out that this could be disastrous in the long-term:
"What if we just spend the next three seasons throwing all our money at the engine only for BMW to go and back Merc or Ferrari or some s**t and then they go and beat us anyway. It's not worth the f*****g bother if you ask me," remarked Weitzmann politely in an interview with AutoPilot earlier this week.
Therefore, Weitzmann and McLaren are doing everything they can to see whether the team can get exclusivity rights for the coming seasons. More to follow...
