I'm going to be cowardly and predict a range of lap 35-38 for the red flag. Three-quarters distance (and therefore full points from that point onwards) is 42 laps (assuming full distance is 56 laps).

And concerning the start time why couldn't they just abandon the twilight race concept for Malaysia and bring the race start time to around 2pm?

Yes it is Kamui's highest starting position. His previous best was 11th in another interreupted session at Brazil last year.

di Grassi stopped in the pits for 15 minutes or so, according to SuperAguri. Yes, that's how slow the HRTs really are.

So, we see Chandhok beating Senna in a straight head-to-head fight for the first time, with both Hispanias reaching the end. All of the new teams were well behind though, with three to five laps separating them from the pointy end of the grid.

Certainly not as exciting as promised, but at least there were some proper scraps for position, unlike Bahrain. The track seems to be more conducive to keeping cars close enough to make the occasional move, but reliability seemed to be the only thing to really create excitement once the dust had settled and the Ferraris and McLarens had made their way up the field.

Schumacher out again. He's definitely not having it all his own way. Good work from Alguersuari and Hulkenberg, with their first Formula One points, and both beating their older teammates.

On another note, could somebody clear this up for me - in the standings, Alonso and Vettel are currently on the same points score (37 points), and both have had the same finishing record (1 win, 1 4th place and one DNF). Which one is ahead of the other - or are they officially tied at the moment?

There is a ladder to decide on positioning in the Championship, as you know. The ladder, I believe, extends all the way down to qualifying, so Vettel should be ahead of Alonso, having 2 pole positions to the Spanish driver's naught.

Alonso was classified 13th today, so he should be ahead of Vettel, as he was Not Classified in Australia :geek:

Thanks for correcting my error - so Alonso is still in second place in the standings, although I guess that CarlosFerreira is also right on his point.

After placings there is no tiebreaker-officially, the FIA can break the tie as it sees fit. But as others have said, Alonso was classified today, so he is ahead...
