Speaking of the championship standings has anyone noticed Kubica is only 9 points away from the championship leader (Which means if next race he finishes in the top 5 and Massa bathpluggs it up epically and nobody else in the top 8 in the standings score major points he could very well be the new championship leader... or maybe I'm just dreaming  )

Ooooooooooh, a Russian, welcome sir. Better amend the quote :D (let me know if you find this offensive, unfortunately 99% of my humour comes from making jokes about where people are from).

"Both Non-german"?

Last time I checked, NIco is German. Even though, when he succeeds, i'd very much prefer him to be finnish :P

I was assuming it was the Aussie and Newey to who was being refered, but never mind. The conversation has moved on since then...

No, it was me thinking Kubica got third and Rosberg got fourth. The race got over at 2:30 AM, so a little slack should be cut.

As promised, I'll do my driver-by-driver review for this race, although there's not too much to say.

Jenson Button - After the joy of Australia, he didn't have a good weekend. Qualified for Q2, but wasted the opportunity by tossing it in the kitty litter. Poor strategy in the race also left him struggling with tyres he got from lap 9, which even he couldn't conserve.

Lewis Hamilton - Showed once again his ability to carve through the field, at least in the early laps (I'm not sure the Red Bulls could even have got passed Sutil). A good drive from the back with minimum fuss, which is what I like to see from Lewis. Seems to be emerging as the strongest challenger to the Red Bulls.

Michael Schumacher - Only marginally better than Australia based on the limited evidence available. Well off of Rosberg's pace again, and a strange end to the race with suspension damage (caused by his driving?)

Nico Rosberg - 3rd is a good result, but Mercedes still have a lot of work to do, and I'm still not sure that Rosberg is aggressive enough to win races.

Sebastian Vettel - You can win races in the first corner. Webber seemed stunned to see Vettel swan up the inside of him in the first corner, and Vettel just showed off his pace to comfortably win the race.

Mark Webber - Will be pleased with his pace, but will be kicking himself for letting Vettel through. Webber is already becoming the number 2 in the team, and I can only remember once (Turkey 2009) where Webber beat Vettel in a straight fight.

Felipe Massa - Somehow leads the championship. I suppose a steady start is what he needed, but he's not exactly dominated Alonso has he?

Fernando Alonso - Drove a great race considering the downshifting problem he had. However, his determination get the better of him when trying to pass Button and he overcooked the engine, which gives him the headache of trying to complete 16 races on 6 engines.

Rubens Barrichello - Bad race for Rubens. The Williams seemed to have no pace at all, struggling against the Toro Rossos. Compiled was a start line stall, and Rubens was never going to trouble the scorers.

The Hulk - A little disappointing to get only 1 point, but he clearly was driving a difficult car. He'll probably be happy with his performance.

Robert Kubica - Another good race for Kubica, and he's really racking up the points. A little more pace, and he could be a match for the Mercedes.

Vitaly Petrov - More of the same, showing flashes of talent, but retiring. He's got the potential to score points in what looks to be a half decent car.

Adrian Sutil - 5th is a fair reflection on a good car and a solid drive by Sutil. Didn't really have to do much to stave off Hamilton because of the car's sheer straight line speed.

Vitantonio Luizzi - Would have been another points finish for sure if he hadn't retired.

Sebastien Buemi - Had an OK race, but has to be compared to Alguersuari, who looked far more impressive.

Jaime Alguersuari - A coming of age? He looked the most comfortable that I've ever seem him, and proved that he can attack and defend. Should take a lot of heart from that performance.

Jarno Trulli - Managed to drag that car to the end, which I suppose is an achievement

Heikki Kovalainen - As above, albeit non-classified. Not a great race for Lotus at their home track.

Karun Chandhok - Another finish for Karun, who's proving to be anything but a joke. Had the edge over his teammate in the wet and dry and must be looking forward to any improvements that the team can conjure up on the car.

Bruno Senna - Bruno made it a double finish for HRT. Needs to raise his game against Karun though.

Pedro De La Rosa - PDLR DNS.

Kamui Kobayashi - Another Sauber retirement when Kamui could have boosted his confidence with a minor points finish. Cruel.

Timo Glock - If di Grassi was the fastest of the new cars, then Glock could have been miles out in front. Alas, he spun off and ruined a chance to finish the race.

Lucas di Grassi - Got the Virgin to the end, with decent pace, which was no mean feat. A composed drive which belied his experience.

watka, agree with pretty much everything you say there. A reflection on Williams: Force India is having the start to the championship that Williams desired.

Did anyone else catch how utterly annoyed Webber seemed to be after Vettel caught him in the face with the bubbly? I actually laughed out loud
