Senna, The Opera.

Post by RFT »

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/art ... le1534598/

“Well, we now know the title and subject matter the new opera he's shepherding to stage for the Metropolitan Opera and English National Opera. Senna, as it is called, will have music by post-minimalist composer Michael Torke and libretto by Korie; the opera concerns the Brazilian Formula 1 world champion Ayrton Senna da Silva, who was killed in a crash during the 1994 Grand Prix.”

It's hard to add anything to that...

I'm waiting for Jacques Villeneuve - The ballet, however if/when this comes to fruition, i'd head to the theatre for Live from the Met night, if only for this

How does a Formula 1 opera work exactly? I mean, it may be interesting, but how do you do that? I don't get it in my brain. Would the scenes look like this:

Last Act, Scene 3 - Adalaide 1993

*We see Senna and Prost on the podium as the music starts to play*

Senna: "Here we stand..."
Prost: "Now it's gone..."
Senna: "Goodbye my friend!"
Prost: "My career is done!"
Senna: "We had some fights..."
Prost: "... but we also had our heights. We were prepared to win..."
Senna: "and we were prepared to sin!"
Prost: "I made errors only a fool makes..."
Senna: "... but I was unfair, too."
Prost: "Our careers had some MISTAAAAAAAAAAAAKES!"
Senna: "But I'll still miss .... yoouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!"

I really don't get it...

Surely they should contract Murray Walker for this: "and-And-AAAAAAAAAAAAAND!!!!!!!!!!What is Deletraz doooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooing?". I'd pay in abundance to hear that, with Deletraz himself jumping from one side of the stage to another, wearing a ballet skirt and swaying his head like a maniac with rabies.

Change two letters in the name of the composer "Torke" and see what name you get. Should explain that the opera will be cookie-cutter and uninteresting.

And instead of an orchestra for the soundtrack they could try revving a couple of F1 engines:
Wroom...Wrooom...Wrooom...Wrooommm
WROOM....WROOM...WROOM...WROOOOOOOOM!!

You're lucky I didn't read this while I was eating or drinking anything.

Else I'd be dead already.
Some say he plans to put an S921 on the Goodwood 2012 run, and that he DOES know what Deletraz is doing.
All we know is...he's called Perry McCarthy!

...we'll never see an S921 at Goodwood, will we?

We could also have Alonso in a Sevillana dress and playing the castanets, as well as Hamilton wearing the F1 Rejects official combat fatigues (refer to watka's combat rules to get the joke), Liuzzi as a gondola rower, or Chandhok belly-dancing and make somewhat of a worldwide parade to exploit his idea.

And to continue the racial stereotypes; Schumacher, Rosberg, Sutil, Hulkenberg and Vettel can all turn up with a tankard of beer in one hand and a brockwurst on a steak fork.

Not to forget their Lederhosen.

But they would be upstaged by Räikkönen and Kovalainen who come in also having tankads... Full of Vodka.
I got Pointed Opinions and I ain't afraid to use em!
F1rejects no.1Räikkönen and Vettel fan.
BTW, thats Räikkönen with two K's and two N's. Not Raikonnen (Raikkonen is fine if you have no umlauts though)

There has to be a bit about the state of F1 at the start of Senna's career delivered in the style of Zydrate Anatomy.
