Well, how am I supposed to know when I'm in Australia, the race is in Canada and I get no coverage of anything until the race?
Although from the sounds of things, the super-soft tyre compound is being rather Rejectful. But then, maybe a lottery will be a good thing ...

I actually think the super-soft tires degrading quickly is a good thing, as the disparity between the two compounds means there might actually be strategy this weekend.
Re: Your Reject of the Race - Canada!
There's been talk of two stop strategies due to tyre degredation, that makes the race prospects very exciting. We could have some parallels with the 1997 race, where we had a lottery of a race due to the race being punishing on tyres and lots of accidents. Not to mention the race being tough on brakes and on fuel consumption and we should have an excellent race, and conveniently its in between World Cup fixtures. What more do you want apart from hearing more of Jacques Villeneuve's beautiful, exquisite music??? Well, if making your ears bleed is what beautiful, exquisite music is.

They say they're running engines from Turkey, though. Apparently they're a different spec to the Montreal ones. Not entirely sure what they hope to gain from that, but it's not the first odd strategy call they've made - they left di Grassi out for thirty laps on soft tyres in Istanbul ...

I guess I'm going to not get much support given that everyone's on holiday, but the BBC should get honorary mention for trying to drum up more conspiracy theories before quali to try and make F1 seem more interesting to the layman.

Beyond that are we talking Spa 1995 where he quali'd 15th and, er, won?

Got to agree with this so far.
That and being unable to find coverage in a language I understand, like English orFrench (or even German at a stretch...)

The TV Coverage- In the States, it's in our timezone (YAY!!!!) and its tape-delayed (BOOOOO!!!). Australia is getting nothing before the race, and the BBC is apparently trying to throw out more conspiracy theories than the F1 Rejects podcast has ever come up with. HOW DARE THEY!!!

Re: Your Reject of the Race - Canada!
I only heard one BBC conspiracy theory - and that was that all teams use team orders, which we all know anyway. The World Cup has drowned out any talk about F1, there's been hardly any talk of F1 this week in the media that I've seen. Therefore I congratulate Michael Schumacher on being ROTR so far this weekend, a truly rotten showing.

Michael Schumacher. Everyone knows why.
My other ROTR is Bernie for scheduling a Grand Prix at the same time as the Le Mans 24 Hours. I had to watch both at the same time so wasn't fully focused on either.

Anyone notice Chandhok's time was a full 8 seconds off the next car? (I believe it's Di Grassi but I can't remember) pretty rejectworthy if you ask me, I think he only did one run as they were still having hydraulics issues but even so...
But yeah so far Schumacher is right in the hunt for ROTR

Michael Schumacher for being a bit poor.
Jonathan Legard for, again, talking all over Brundle. It's old news, I know, but maybe if I nominate him enough he might disappear.

My nominations are:
Michael Schumacher: You know something's gone horribly wrong when you're beaten by BOTH Williamses of all things.
Suaber: 17th and 18th on the grid and they were lucky to even manage that. Now that's embarrasing.

Sauber for being closer to Lotus than to any established team.
For tomorrow I preventively nominate the race stewards for bringing out the SC for a small accident that didn't need it.

Taking a look at the times, Sauber have been pretty dismal here - so much so that Heikki believes he can beat Kobayashi on merit in the race (and given that the gap between them is only 0.2s, it is entirely possible). Admittedly, the fact that this is a low downforce track has probably brought the new teams closer to the field, but Lotus have managed to put in a very impressive performance (and Trulli has not done a bad job, considering that he lost at least half his practise time due to gearbox problems).
As for Schumacher, he isn't going to have an easy time, thanks to being so low down. Judging by the practise times, Mercedes do have slightly better race pace, but realistically the best he could have hoped for was probably the bottom half of the top 10 (Rosberg is down in 10th place, which I guess mitigates Schumacher's mistakes a bit). However, he may have a bit of good luck in the race, courtesy of retirements or a safety car or two, so it might be a bit early to mark him out for ROTR just yet.

Correct. Alonso escaped rejectdom in both Monaco and Turkey, even after all the qualifying woes.

The difference between the top teams and the midfield is far greater than the difference between the top teams. Therefore, he'll be fine for the first few positions he has to make up. Once he hits tenth or so, it will be far more difficult.
Re: Your Reject of the Race - Canada!
At this stage, its the Schu for ROTR. Though at least unlike his team mate he gets to choose his tyres. This may be significant. Or it may not...

Actually it is more significant here more than anywhere else. The Supersofts are useless after about 10 laps (And I believe everyone in the top 10 bar Red Bull and Kubica are starting on the supersofts. Our Resident Guru Mario would have to confirm this though since I didn't watch qualy) and the Mediums aren't that great either.

Could beinteresting this - I can see Schu doing the cast majority of this race on the harder tyre and dashing in very late for 5 or 6 laps on the softs. He could grab a few points easily.
ROTR so far has to be Sauber.

If there's one thing we've learned over the past 15 years or so, it's that Michael Schumacher is unlike any other.
Re: Your Reject of the Race - Canada!
At least he was. But I don't think he is able to go fast, and make the tyres last that much longer than the others so he will benefit from it.

And he did enough to deserve it in the last lap as well. Plenty of excessively forceful driving today, and not just from the Schu.

Re: Your Reject of the Race - Canada!
my vote goes to Felipe Massa: he had four laps left to attack a much slower Schumacher, and throws away his chances with a reckless attempt at the last chicane.
