the trebron is a pure genius design!
and it seems that some of the ideas of the lotus (the nose section for example) are put into the pacific. It's not totally the same but it has some similarities.

Nope it was controversial
like the Lion Grandprix project as example
There where more controversial f1 projects in the 90s, like the formula1 car with 3 wheels one in the middle front and 2 in the back but can't remember who's idea it was.
Did a lot of research about those teams in 2004 /2005 but lost a lot of information sadly enough.
Will put some more teams in it this night or tomorrow

Re: The team who never made it
Spewing oil over a row of potential investors is also not a great way to try and get a brand new F1 team off the ground!
Re: The team who never made it
The DAMS car looks just horribly fat and lumpy. No surprise it was awfully slow.
The Trebron and Ikuzawa seemed interesting enough concepts. Shame they were never seen in a race track.
The Lyon and the Il Barone Rampante (that was the name of that devilish thing if I'm not mistaken) were just weird and unrealistic.

The DOME looks very pretty. Thanks for posting these photos.

Oh man, just imagine what F1 would've been like if all these teams had gotten in...
I must say, Lion is a pretty good name for a team. It inspired me to name my fantasy team Lynx. (Do not steal this name please.)

Rossiter was the first to sign...but when it became evident they wouldn't make it (January), his sponsors backed out of the deal and Rossiter lost his seat. Pavlovic had been picked up to replace him.
Re: The team who never made it
Does anyone remember Moneytron (I thinks that what thet were called)? They were a Swiss lot who bought/wanted to buy the Haas Lola/ Lola Haas cars and race them in 1987 with Megatron turbo's instead of the Ford engine.
I think the project was canned when the sponsorship failed to materialise.

Could've been I just remember seeing a picture in Autosport with a mocked up colourscheme imposed over a picture of the Haas Lola and it something like Moneytron on the rear wing. May have been a sponsor?

Moneytron was the company owned by Belgian politician/nutcase Jean-Pierre van Rossem, which of course eventually made it into F1 with Onyx.

Re: The team who never made it
That V10 engine note is beautiful. I haven't heard many engines sound that good since the 4.9L flat-12 they used in the Porsche 917. Definitely a lot more evocative than the 2.4L V8s they use now; V8s tend to sound better when they come from America.
Obviously, a 1.46 was around the back of the grid by 1997, but then, you don't get the quickest times from testing. Would have been interesting to see.

Those Dome vids are cool. After listening to that engine they should bring back v10 or v12's.

Yes the sound is much better, remembering the V12 of ferrari felt in love with it.

Re: The team who never made it
I was browsing Forix/8w this morning and found the following article about Giancarlo Minardi's first attempt a Formula 1 using a Ferrari 312T and Pierluigi Martini's uncle also called Giancarlo as driver.
http://www.forix.com/8w/everest.html
Unfortunately Mr Martini crashed the car during the warm-up for the race of champions at Brands and it didn't complete any(many) laps at the International Trophy at Silverstone.
Looks like Formula 1 was just too step a hill to climb for Scuderia Everest.

Re: The team who never made it
Gerard Larrousse pulled off a massive coup in 1994 by securing sponsorship from the Danone group, however, the results that year were well below expectations so Danone didn't pay all that they promised. Apparently there was a clause in the contract that allowed them to do this. By the end of the season, Larrousse was skint so he started getting pay drivers, hence the beginning of the short-lived F1 careers of Hideki Noda and Jean-Denis Deletraz.
There was a design for a car for 1995, again from March and Robin Herd, I believe, but Larrousse had no money to build it. Larrousse managed to sell what was left of the team to a guy called Jean Messaoudi, who intended to use the cars from 1994, upgraded to the 1995 rules. He also entered to use money from the French government through the Loi Evin (which was a French government law to ban all tobacco and alcohol advertising and would provide compensation to entities who would have lost out on revenue due to it) to field 2 up-and-coming French drivers. I seem to remember Christophe Bouchut and Eric Helary being in line to drive. These were very competent drivers that missed out on the recently cancelled Elf La Filiere scheme to promote French drivers in motorsport, so the intention was to provide a final rung in the ladder of motorsport. I remember that they never turned up and it all pretty much disappeared. I've got some Auto-Hebdos and Sport Autos from the time that describe the whole thing. I'll see if I can find them.

Re: The team who never made it
Asiatech presented a wind-tunnel scale model for a car they wanted to build. Enrique Scalabroni presented it to the media at a press conference during a Formula 1 race weekend that I was at in 2002, but I can't remember where it was. I remember being in the press conference.

Re: The team who never made it
I remember a small news item in Autosport in the summer of 1992 reporting that Frederic Dhainaut had left Andrea Moda (he was sporting director, I believe) after the Canadian Grand Prix to supposedly start a team for 1993. It quoted him as saying that he had the money, he had an engine deal and he had a chassis deal. He promised that it would be "not a big team but good." Apparently Dhainaut had attempted to buy the equipment of the defunct AGS, and had also been linked to a buy-out of Brabham. Rumours were that the Dhainaut cars would have Hart V10s and Rhone-Poulenc sponsorship, and that the team would be based somewhere in England.

Just imagine how many more teams the site would have if these had happened
