NÜRBURGRING - RACE #2
Qualifying
Unlike Hockenheim, the skies were blue and the road was dry as the cars took to the track for their qualifying session. When all drivers were done, it seemed that Frank Zimmer and Douglas Mann, who had both been subjected to poor strategies that ruined their race at Hockenheim, were out to prove something, qualfying first and second respectively. David Koczo, who had a magnificent race last time, would line up third, with Mann's teammate Sammy Jones alongside. Race winner Ashley Watkinson was 9th, while F1 champion Daniel Melrose was 10th. Newbie Simon Redman, who signed for Kahama Motor Sport after Hockenheim, was 8th. All 19 drivers were seperated by less than two seconds, showing how close the field now is. Club Bangelia Racing had a shocker, with their drivers in 15th and 19th. One thing that bugged the drivers, though, was that the race would only use the short version of the track.

Race:
Lap 1:
Zimmer led the drivers through the first corner, ahead of Mann and Koczo, with the only remarkably bad start coming from Thomas De Bock. As the lap progressed, Zimmer built his lead, while Melrose picked up a few spots, at the same time as Watkinson lost a few. The race didn’t get much better for De Bock, who spun at the Kumho-Kurve. Apart from that, a pattern similar to Hockenheim was forming – three leaders jumping ahead, then a massive group of drivers, then the spaced out backmarkers.
Lap 2:
By lap 2, the Coswojuddhartlambo engine(s?) came good, as Luca Pacchiarini leaped to second, while Mann dropped to fourth. Meanwhile, Ashley Watkinson dropped to 12th, and Sammy Jones dropped to 9th. It seemed interesting for Rosenforth, who had Zimmer in first and De Bock in last. Who would pit first? Zimmer, who would not want to blow another race? Or De Bock, who did end up pitting first because he hit the tyre bundle at the inside of the chicane and needed a new front wing. Again.
Lap 3:
A small mistake from David Koczo saw him slip to 5th, as Mann and teammate Spencer slipped through. Hagane Shizuka copied De Bock, and also came in for a new wing. It seemed that the tyre bundle could ruin more than two races today.
Lap 4:
But it seemed that Zimmer was either incredibly brave, or incredibly stupid, as he took the chicane at astounding speed, getting away from Pacchiarini in the process. Douglas Mann ran wide at the chicane, missing the tyres but dropping to 6th. Meanwhile, Dave Simpson was up to 5th. That was until he came in to pit very early, almost the opposite of his last strategy. When he rejoined, he was in 17th, ahead of Shizuka and De Bock.
Lap 5:
Which didn’t last long, as he spun on the first corner, allowing Suzuka to get in front. For Shizuka, this was a massive gain, having pitted from way further back in the field. Mistakes from some midfield drivers saw the field spread out, while Adam Lewis came in for his first stop. He lost out big time, as De Bock screamed past as he left.
Lap 6:
Pacchiarini pitted from second, as did Gary Cameron from further back, and they came out at the bottom of the list. It looked like Hockenheim all over again…
Lap 7:
Zimmer learned from Hockenheim and pitted from the lead, allowing Douglas Mann to lead the field across the line. He was followed in by Darren Older Jr. What was a key moment was that despite running just one lap longer, Zimmer was still a fair way behind Pacchiarini, but still ahead of Cameron. Older, however, wasn’t as lucky.
Lap 8:
Mann still led, but was being very closely followed by Spencer. Jones was third, while Melrose was a race-high fourth. The highest placed of the pitters, Dave Simpson, was already in the points, while Dan BH was being overtaken by them. This also marked the stop of Ashley Watkinson.
Lap 9:
Mann still led, while Simpson was up to 8th, and then 7th as he made short work of the drivers on worn tyres. This was a bad sign, as these drivers had only been on them for 9 laps, so all the early stoppers looked in danger of having to adopt a two-stopper.
Lap 10:
Mann was the last of the drivers affected by the long strategy, and still he didn’t pit. Melrose was up to 3rd as Mann’s teammate Sammy Jones did stop, along with Kay Lon. Simpson was now 5th, and was set to win the race, if he could last to the end. Both Jones and Lon dropped behind the duelling Zimmer and Cameron.
Lap 11:
A spin from Mann at the Mercedes Arena lost him his spot, overtaken by Melrose, and Dave Simpson! Now in second, he was set for glory. The next best stopper was Adam Lewis, in 7th, then Luca Pacchiarini in 9th. Zimmer seemed to have lost his early pace as he languished in 14th, behind Shizuka. That was at the chicane, as De Bock, in a very suicidal move, tried a massive overtake, and got from 12th to 9th! It’s just a shame that Pacchiarini had also gained a spot as McAllister spun. Jones also spun at the chicane on cold tyres, being demoted to outright last.
Lap 12:
Simpson was now exactly what Watkinson did at Hockenheim: get into first on young tyres, then gas it while the rest fell back. And he executed it to perfection, getting past Melrose with ease. Pacchiarini was now 5th, and would pose the only threat, while Zimmer’s tyres started pulling their part, as he latched on to the mid pack. Meanwhile, Mann, Dan BH and James Davies all stopped for the first time.
Lap 13:
Simpson now led from Pacchiarini, while Simon Redman got to third ahead of Melrose, with neither of them pitting. Zimmer was looking to navigate through the pack, but was stick in 12th. De Bock was now 6th with Spencer in 7th.
Lap 14:
Simpson had now caught the first backmarker, Dan BH, and set about overtaking. Meanwhile, Redman was going abnormally quick for someone who hadn’t stopped. Zimmer climbed to 9th, while Melrose still refused to pit. The massive battle pack now included 10 drivers, from 4th placed Lewis to 13th placed Watkinson.
Lap 15:
Simpson couldn’t get past and lost a little time, while Pacchiarini slowly wound him in. Redman’s speed started to wear off, as Lewis got past. Zimmer was now 7th, with teammate De Bock in 6th. Melrose had dropped to 9th, yet still didn’t pit. He, Redman and Phoenix McAllister were the only three non-pitters, in 9th, 4th and 12th respectively. There was also a big gap between the 16th placed Jones and 17th place Mann.
Lap 16:
It was now a Rosenforth 5-6 as Redman dropped to 7th, with McAllister still 12th. Melrose saw the light, however, and decided it would be a rather good idea to pit. Unfortunately, he went a lap down.
Lap 17:
Zimmer got past a slowing De Bock for 5th, while Redman dropped to 9th. McAllister pitted, and came out behind Simpson and the lapped Melrose.
Lap 18:
De Bock and Watkinson got locked in heated battle, as Zimmer disappeared up the road, in pursuit of the fourth placed Lewis. Gary Cameron was third.
Lap 19:
While Redman stayed out, Nathanael Spencer pitted for the first time, having an anonymous race. Zimmer also got held up by Lewis, and Watkinson closed in.
Lap 20:
Simpson was either losing pace, or Pacchiarini was gaining some, as the Italian closed in. Zimmer also got past Lewis, leaving him to deal with Watkinson. Elsewhere, confusion abounded as Cameron lapped his teammate McAllister, or was about to, or something. In other words, the two Calinetics were too close to be able to tell who was who. David Koczo also came in for his second stop, as well as Redman for his first.
Lap 21:
Lewis gave in to Watkinson’s pace earlier than he did for Zimmer, allowing Watkinson and Zimmer to engage in epic battle like they did at Hockenheim. De Bock, despite being the first to pit, was running a solid 7th. The two West Cliff cars were up to 10th and 11th, with Sammy Jones leading the two.
Lap 24:
As the race settled into a lull, Simpson continued to be held up by backmarkers, and Pacchiarini continued to gain.
Lap 25:
Jones, in a slowing car, lost his spot to Mann, who was now in the points.
Lap 26:
Hagane Shizuka came in for a second stop.
Lap 27:
It seemed that the backmarkers were conspiring against certain drivers, as Simpson and Zimmer both complained that backmarkers were slowing them, allowing the driver behind – Pacchiarini in Simpson’s case and Watkinson in Zimmer’s – to drastically catch up. Simpson was better off, because his teammate Melrose was stubbornly refusing to let Pacchiarini get away, while Zimmer was held up for 3 laps by Koczo, who let Watkinson through in only a few corners. Meanwhile Jones took back his spot from Mann.
Lap 28:
The battle between Mann and Jones became the most interesting part of the race.
Lap 30:
And we have our second race winner – give a hand for DAVE SIMPSON! An interesting race, where strategy once again played a large part.

)
I now realise how bad my predictions were for each team, so I apologise (I swear, CR didn't score a point at all when I did it properly). So, with the next race at Oschersleben, it will be interesting to see who wins there.

I could have been able to mix it with the top 10 if it wasn't for the second stop. I didn't really feel comfortable in the car this time around, so I had to go a bit more careful. I hope I'll have a better race next time, and I still have my target set to finish ahead of one, maybe two drivers. Also, I'd like to congratulate my teammate for having an excellent race, finishing in sixth position!

I'm almost lost for words after this race. I'd like to thank the team for making such a good car and their strategy calls - I was doubting that pitting the earliest would work... but it did. I'd also like to thank Luca for such a close race in the final laps. I'm amazed that the glued together engine made the finish let alone the podium.
This is a cool spot.

David Koczo was not in the mood to comment the race. We can just report that he was, hmmm... not too pleased when he got out of the car.

After suffering from the Flu all weekend England's Adam Lewis is very happy to secure 6th at the Ring. He is also pleased that him and his teammate have both scored points so far and hopefully this will stop the team principal from sending them home.

Douglas Mann was happy to score a point and to beat his illustrious teammate after their battle together, but qualifying still suggests that West Cliff Racing is seriously underperforming in the races. Douglas is to have words with the team (again).

OSCHERSLEBEN - RACE #3
Qualifying
A close qualifying saw Frank Zimmer take his second straight pole, but pole positions don't win championships, he still had to work for it. Previous race winner Dave Simpson missed out by 4 hundredths of a second, while the Coswojuddhartlambo engine still seemed to work, with Luca Pacchiarini 3rd. Championship leader Ashley Watkinson will start from 13th on the grid, while the 2nd place champinship contender, Gary Cameron, will start from 5th. The only two drivers yet to score, Daniel Melrose and Simon Redman, will start from11th and 9th respectively.
Qualifying results for Motopark Oschersleben:
1st: Rosenforth Engineering - Frank ZIMMER (0.53.55)
2nd: JLD Motorsport - Dave SIMPSON (+0.04)
3rd: Pacchia-Coswojuddhartlambo - Luca Pacchiarini (+0.23)
4th: Prospec - David KOCZO (+0.32)

19th: Club Bangelia Racing - James DAVIES (+1.67)
Lap 1:
A poor start from Pacchiarini saw him drop to 5th; however that was about it for positional changes. Until the chicane, that is, where Zimmer lost a little speed, allowing Simpson past. A few others also lost a spot there, as Redman jumped to 7th.
Lap 2:
His lead didn’t last either, as he buggered it up at the first corner, allowing Pacchiarini, who was making ground, to jump into the lead. Zimmer was right on Simpson’s tail. Elsewhere, Watkinson was up to 11th, Melrose down to 12th, Redman back to 10th and Dan BH up to 6th, a season high for Club Bangelia.
Lap 3:
Pacchiarini still led after the third lap, while the backmarkers were several seconds slower. BH was now 4th, while the main pack from the 6th-placed Douglas Mann to the 13th-placed Nathanael Spencer was continuously swapping spots.
Lap 5:
The race was already becoming very boring as Pacchiarini slowly got away, and the top 5 drivers all started to spread out. That was until Simpson missed the chicane and lost his spot to Zimmer. Melrose, Watkinson and Spencer all dropped out of the battle pack.
Lap 6:
Redman jumped to 4th as he escaped the fast pack, who caught up to the 5th-place Koczo. Dan BH, meanwhile, became the first driver to pit.
Lap 8:
Sammy Jones stopped from 15th, dropping to last before even reaching his pit bay.
Lap 9:
Simpson dropped to 5th on worn tyres, while Zimmer dropped in pace. Pacchiarini, however, didn’t slow. He also lapped Jones, while he was still in the pits.
Lap 10:
Melrose went on a charge, jumping to 6th, behind his teammate.
Lap 11:
Zimmer slowed, dropping to 4th. He then took the wise option of pitting, re-emerging ahead of Jones, and also just ahead of the race leaders.
Lap 12:
Pacchiarini finally slowed, dropping to third behind Redman and Koczo, and just ahead of Melrose.
Lap 13:
Redman lost his spot to Koczo, while Simpson got back in front of Melrose and Pacchiarini. In fact, Melrose dropped to 7th after an incident at the chicane. Jones, meanwhile, unlapped himself with a brilliant move at the first corner, and immediately disappeared, trying to catch Zimmer, who had caught James Davies.
Lap 14:
Simpson and Pacchiarini were now 2nd and 3rd as Redman made a massive mistake at the chicane. Simpson also caught up to Koczo, while leaving Pacchiarini in his dust. Jones also caught Zimmer, and both were held up by the slow Club Bangelia.
Lap 15:
As the cars crossed the line the order was:
Koczo, Simpson, Redman, Pacchiarini, Cameron, Lewis, Spencer, Melrose, Watkinson, Older Jr (Top 10), BH, Mann, McAllister, Lon, De Bock, Shizuka, Davies, Zimmer and Jones.
Lap 16:
Pacchiarini dropped to 9th, while Melrose jumped to 6th. Koczo, in his Prospec, started to pull away. Zimmer also finally overtook Davies for 17th, and had already closed on Shizuka. The 3 drivers who had stopped were wondering whether it was a good idea, as the other 16 wondered whether they should pit now.
Lap 17:
Koczo had a really slow lap, allowing Simpson to close in again. Koczo’s teammate, Nathanael Spencer, decided to come in, dropping to last in the process. Zimmer also overtook Shizuka and Jones got clear of Davies.
Lap 18:
Koczo had another really slow lap, dropping to third behind Simpson and Redman. Watkinson climbed to 6th, while Melrose dropped to 9th. Zimmer also found in his way into the points as Lon, McAllister, Mann and Lewis all stopped, as well as passing De Bock.
Lap 19:
He got to 8th by passing Older Jr and a slow Pacchiarini, and looked like doing exactly the same thing as Watkinson and Simpson. He then got to 5th as he blew past Watkinson and Cameron and Koczo pitted from in front. Older Jr and De Bock both stopped as well.
Lap 20:
This lap saw Simpson lose his lead to Dan BH, and second to Redman. Someone pitted, but because they were a lap down, it remains unknown who it was.
Lap 21:
Zimmer jumped to 3rd, while Jones was 6th. Everyone could tell it would come down to these two drivers at the end of the race. It generally became near impossible to tell who was where, because so many drivers had been lapped.
Lap 22:
All that was known was that in the top 10:
Dan BH and Simon Redman had not yet pitted. Frank Zimmer had and was in first on corrected order. All 3 were amongst lapped traffic. The 4th placed Simpson had also not yet stopped, and was under pressure from Jones, who had, and he had also left behind Melrose, who hadn’t. Watkinson was some way back in 7th and had not stopped, with Shizuka behind who hadn’t, being tailed by Pacchiarini, who hadn’t, and Spencer, who had. Confusing, huh?
Lap 23:
Zimmer jumped to second, but his team couldn’t tell him which driver ahead was in the lead. It was believed that there were either 3 lapped cars, or 6 lapped cars, since the presence of James Davies didn’t help, and neither did the similarity of the liveries of Club Bangelia and Rosenforth, or the Club Bangelia-Rosenforth at the front compared to the Rosenforth-Club Bangelia at the back. Jones, meanwhile, was 4th. Nathanael Spencer was also doing well, up to 6th.
Lap 24:
And then Jones was 3rd, as he overtook Redman. Zimmer couldn’t find BH, let alone pass him. It was then slightly clearer when it was discovered that between Zimmer and Jones were two cars, belonging to Older Jr and De Bock, 17th and 18th in the race, while the last-placed Davies was behind the Kahama of Redman. Simpson, meanwhile, was 11th, and still hadn’t stopped. I think…
Lap 25:
More confusion as despite carefully checking the cars, Dan could not be found. This was quickly becoming strange. Zimmer had also lapped Lon.
Lap 26:
Something’s wrong here. BH was spotted, having lapped the 7th-placed cars! If that was true, than he must have stopped somewhere… Nope, I’m lost. Figure it out yourself.

Re: F1RWRS - A computerised F1Reject series
Rumour has it that the mysterious DART organisation who outbidded the IndyCar series for the assets of the defunct ChampCar World Series may be running the championship from next season onwards using old ChampCars from 2003.

Dan BH stopped very early on, I think that's why you were confused.
On another note, I've had 3 completely anonymous races, and am leading the championship without having so much as led a race! The Nick Heidfeld of F1RWRS?

We are in quite a good position but still have a lot of work to do. But I can say, we're going in a good direction.

I do feel sad for him though losing ground in the race after an amazing qualifying session. I still have faith in the team and in Lewis too and I hope we can climb higher later on in the season. At least we scored points already. Bring on the next race!

Re: F1RWRS - A computerised F1Reject series
Douglas Mann is getting frustrated here, considering that in America (where he ought to get back to at some point...) he is a championship leader. Penultimate place in the championship? Really? At least he had the consolation of being ahead of the 2005 F1 champion... At this rate, if his results don't improve, he reckons he'll have to be replaced by his talented English-born sister, Pippa...

Sammy Jones wrote:Superb! Second podium in three races, I can really feel the championship challenge picking up now. I'm joint third in the table and I think the drivers ahead can be beaten, especially with a strategy like the one we had today. Pitting first was definately the best move after such a disappointing qualifying, and boy did it pay off! As you'd expect though I'm gutted for Douglas, but at the moment it's just me carrying the team in the team standings, so some additional points from him wouldn't go amiss that's for sure! And what the hell is supposed F1 world champion Melrose doing at the bottom of the pile? Jeez were all those race wins rigged or something?!

My engineer has told me they'll change it for the next race as they can't find the issue. Let's hope a new engine will translate into an upturn in form! The car is really beautiful to drive, as my team-mate Gary is proving by leading the championship. But I think I can become a factor in the next races now that I'm truly at ease with everything within the team.

The car is fast as shown by my performances during the race where I've been solidly in the points on all 3 occasions before some wierd pit stratagies have put both me and my teammate Dave Simpson (who also happened to be my teammate back in our Precision Motorsport days) out of points contention.

Race
Bugger it, I can’t resist, it’s too boring otherwise.
Lap 1:
Melrose got a brilliant start, out-pacing Pacchiarini into the first corner, while Simpson and Zimmer went backwards.
Lap 2:
Melrose and Pacchiarini both overtook Spencer, but Pacchiarini got in front of Melrose, as he started slowing (already? Wow.) He was 5th by lap completion. Zimmer was back to 6th, Watkinson was 4th, Dan BH was 3rd, Mann up to 8th.
Lap 3:
BH started challenging for the lead as Spencer conceded his second spot. Melrose up to 4th, Zimmer down to 7th, Watkinson down to 5th, Simpson down to 9th, Mann up to 6th.
Lap 4:
Melrose challenging Pacchiarini, Mann moves up to 5th, McAllister into top 10 (8th), Simpson down to 10th. Jones 12th.
Lap 5:
Melrose jumps past at the hairpin, McAllister gets to 6th, Zimmer still 7th, Watkinson down to 9th, Mann still 5th. Redman drops to 11th after hanging at lower points spots. Kay Lon dropping way back from 18th placed Gary Cameron.
Lap 6:
Melrose loses lead back to Pacchiarini, Zimmer drops to 8th, Dan BH 6th, Mann 4th, McAllister 5th, Simpson 9th, Watkinson 10th. Cameron still 18th. James Davies first to pit.
Lap 7:
Spencer now leads again, Melrose 3rd, Mann 4th, Zimmer 5th, then daylight. Redman then in 6th, BH 7th. Watkinson up to 8th, McAllister down to 9th. Simpson completes top 10. Davies emerges from pits in last, but right behind Lon. Older Jr enters pits. Cameron battling with Koczo for 15th.
Lap 8:
Spencer still leads, with Pacchiarini and Melrose battling a second behind. Mann a second behind them, Zimmer a few more down still. Koczo escapes from Cameron by overtaking Shizuka. Older Jr now last.
Lap 9:
Spencer and Pacchiarini literally side by side across line – Spencer barely in front. Melrose safely third, Zimmer gets to fourth as Mann brakes too late after the back straight. McAllister back up to 6th. Jones now in points for first time (9th). Redman 10th, Watkinson 11th. Koczo up to 12th, Cameron still 16th. De Bock 15th. Everyone bar top 4 and Older Jr in massive pack.
Lap 10:
Spencer with one tenth advantage over line from Pacchiarini, Mann 3rd and Melrose 4th. Zimmer drops to 9th behind Watkinson. Koczo now 7th, Watkinson 5th. Jones back to 12th. Simpson and Dan BH pit.
Lap 11:
Pacchiarini now with 2 second lead. Mann now 2nd, Spencer 3rd, Melrose still 4th. Watkinson now 5th. McAllister 7th. Koczo 6th. Cameron now 11th behind Jones. Zimmer pits.
Lap 12:
Spencer again in lead, Pacchiarini 3rd behind Watkinson. Koczo 4th, McAllister 5th, Melrose 6th. Mann back to 7th, teammate Jones 9th. Cameron back to 14th. De Bock in front. The best placed pitter is Davies, now in 10th. Lon worst of the drivers yet to stop in 15th.
Lap 13:
Prospec now 1-3, with Spencer in lead. Pacchiarini splits them. Watkinson 4th, Davies now 5th, favourite for victory. Cameron up to 10th. Massive mid-pack reforms. Simpson right behind Lon.
Lap 14:
Spencer still leads, Pacchiarini now blocking Koczo. Davies 4th. Melrose back to 7th behind McAllister. Mann 9th, Redman 8th. Cameron still 10th. De Bock now worst non-pitter after missing braking point at the hairpin. Almost life-threatening in mid-pack, the cars are so close. Zimmer setting quick laps in clean air.
Lap 15:
Davies takes lead down the straight, immediately pulls away. Prospec now 2-3 as Pacchiarini drops to 5th. McAllister 4th. Melrose 6th, Watkinson 7th, Cameron 8th. Redman and Mann 9th and 10th. Simpson up to 11th, sandwiched between the two West Cliffs of Mann and Jones. De Bock now 18th, with Zimmer right under his wing.
Lap 16:
Davies now has massive lead over the Prospecs and Pacchiarini. Calinetic is 5-6, JLD 7-8. Watkinson 11th. Zimmer passes De Bock for 18th, and starts closing on Shizuka, who is now 17th. Jones back to 15th.
Lap 17:
Davies way out in front, as Simpson and Koczo move into 2nd and 3rd. Spencer and Pacchiarini resume their battle, but now for fourth. Melrose 7th. Cameron 6th. McAllister, Watkinson and Mann round out top 10. Zimmer now making his way through the pack. De Bock pits from last place, almost certain to go a lap down.
Lap 18:
Simpson free of Koczo as he starts to chase down Davies. Spencer pits from 4th. Zimmer up to 15th. Melrose down to 9th. Cameron 4th after Spencer’s stop, behind Koczo, the best non-pitter. Pacchiarini 7th. Watkinson in 6th, behind Dan BH. Jones and Lon both pit from the back.
Lap 19:
McAllister, Melrose, Watkinson, Redman and Mann all pit at once with Shizuka coming from much lower in the order.
Lap 20:
Zimmer now 8th, then 6th as Koczo and Lewis pit. Cameron is the last driver in front of him (4th) to pit. Davies still with large lead, but Simpson is gaining. Dan BH third, with Older Jr 5th. Along with Koczo and Lewis, Pacchiarini heads in.
Lap 21:
Davies laps the three drivers who stopped, leaving only the top 8 on the lead lap. Melrose is now 16th, and Shizuka drops to last. McAllister is 12th, Watkinson 13th, Redman 11th and Mann 14th, ahead of Jones. Closest lead lap battle is between the 4th placed Darren Older Jr and the 5th placed Frank Zimmer. Cameron is the last driver to pit, and is 7th when he does.
Lap 22:
Older Jr makes a meal of the hairpin, and Zimmer gets past. After all the stops, the order is:
Davies, Simpson, BH, Zimmer, Older Jr, Spencer, Redman, Watkinson, McAllister, Mann (Top 10), Jones, Melrose, Koczo, Pacchiarini, Lon, Lewis, De Bock, Shizuka and Cameron.
Lap 23:
Only the top 13 are on the lead lap as Davies finds more pace.
Lap 24:
At least I can keep track of everyone this time… Cameron passes Shizuka to avoid last place, while Shizuka pushes hard to get it back. Although I suppose that was technically their lap 23. Older Jr is also losing ground to Spencer on his older tyres.
Lap 25:
Davies laps the 13th placed Koczo, and is side by side with Jones down the pit straight, but on the outside. Melrose also climbs in to the top 10.
Lap 26:
Jones goes a lap down. Older Jr loses his spot to Spencer, but has a large advantage over teammate Watkinson.
Lap 27:
Davies laps the 10th placed Melrose, but Simpson, on tyres that are 4 laps younger, is gaining. Cameron gets past De Bock for 17th, but does not look like making the top 10.
Lap 28:
CATASTROPHE FOR DAVIES!!!!!! Under brakes for the hairpin, his 22-lap old tyres can’t stand it, and his right-rear explodes before he reaches the corner. He limps back to the pits, but Simpson easily passes him. He also loses his spot to BH while stationary, and 3rd to Zimmer as he exited on cold tyres. Focus suddenly turns to Older Jr, who has the next oldest tyres, at 21 laps. Having received news from his crew, he plays it safe and pits from 6th. He rejoins in 19th. Oh dear…
Lap 30:
We have a winner ladies and gentlemen! For his second victory since the ‘Ring, DAVE SIMPSON! Dan BH crosses for 2nd, while Frank Zimmer takes his first podium.

So, we see Dave Simpson pick up his second victory, Daniel Melrose pick up his first points (finally) and Frank Zimmer move into the championship lead, despite not winning a race yet. The next race at Adelaide should be interesting, with three of the Aussies in the field looking for their maiden victories, and the fourth Aussie looking for number 3.
EDIT: Just discovered that the point totals for Rosenforth, Calinetic and Prospec were wrong, so I fixed them. I hope.

8th: Pacchia-Coswojuddhartlambo (13)
9th: KQ Motorsport (11)
10th: Kahama Motor Sport (10)
So, we see Dave Simpson pick up his second victory, Daniel Melrose pick up his first points (finally) and Frank Zimmer move into the championship lead, despite not winning a race yet. The next race at Adelaide should be interesting, with three of the Aussies in the field looking for their maiden victories, and the fourth Aussie looking for number 3.
EDIT: Just discovered that the point totals for Rosenforth, Calinetic and Prospec were wrong, so I fixed them. I hope.

Well 7th isn't to bad, and 8th isn't a bad place to qualify either.

In the early stages we were quick but the car didn't feel right on used tyres. Still finishing in the points wasn't too bad for a day's work and I would like to congratulate my teammate Simpson for collecting his second win of the season.

Douglas Mann appreciates his teammate's support during what is turning out to be a disasterous season for the Manxman. He is finding it embarrassing and hopes to sort it out soon. He blames the tyres and the fact that his team just isn't bringing him in soon enough for his tyre stops. Can he smell a conspiracy (by the way, he does not put the blame for this conspiracy at Sammy Jones's door but at the team's):
West Cliff Racing
Based in California, the team have hired a few people who are paid (cheaply) just to come up with “brilliant” strategies for the drivers. The WC001 is powered by the same Chevy V8 that’s in the PP1, but is designed by Lola, like the K1. They most definitely have a 1-2, and some say they might go as far as removing damaged parts from the first driver’s car and putting them on to the second (where has that happened before?). They are expected to be midfield. At least, the #1 driver will be…
They will have the #2 and #3.

We really need consistent points finishes, and whilst the couple of podiums have been good, the general performance of the team is too up and down, we really need to find some better form, even if it means finishing 5th or 6th each race, I'd rather have that than good one day and shite the next.

Race
Lap 1:
Now, I’m worried about this race. After a brilliant start, Frank Zimmer led the field into the chicane. Sounds like it’s gonna go well, right? Well, for some reason he pitted on the first lap. I couldn’t see any damage, so it seems that he’s going for a really stupid strategy. So that meant Cameron led after the first lap, with Kay Lon second and Dan BH third. Redman also had a good start, and was 7th at the end of the lap. Melrose got into 12th, and Ashley Watkinson was now 8th. Thomas De Bock was the other big mover, getting to 17th, and then 16th as Zimmer stopped.
Lap 2:
Lon goes through to first, while Cameron takes second. Dan BH third, Mann 4th, Pacchiarini 5th. Nathanael Spencer 6th from Redman, Simpson now 8th, David Koczo 9th, Melrose 10th after passing Watkinson at the final corner. Zimmer, despite pitting, now right behind Older Jr.
Lap 3:
Cameron once again first from Lon, Mann and BH battling for third, Prospecs now 5-6. Pacchiarini 7th, Watkinson 8th, Simpson 9th, Redman 10th, Melrose 11th. Zimmer up to 18th after disposing of Older Jr, then 17th as Phoenix McAllister pits. De Bock still 16th. Hagane Shizuka on charge, now up to 14th.
Lap 4:
Cameron now with large lead, as Koczo pits from 5th. Obviously the CPU knows something I don’t. Melrose now 6th, Zimmer 15th. Shizuka passes Sammy Jones for 11th. Older Jr ridiculously slow (Sakon?) as McAllister catches up.
Lap 5:
Dan BH pits from 3rd, as Cameron still leads. Melrose now 2nd, Lon drops to 3rd. Shizuka decides to pit as well, coming in from 10th. Zimmer back to 11th. McAllister passes Older Jr, who is now defending from Koczo.
Lap 6:
Mann now 2nd, Melrose 3rd, Lon 4th, Watkinson 5th, Zimmer 6th. McAllister back into midfield.
Lap 7:
Zimmer passes Watkinson at turn 9, Melrose passes Mann at final corner, Simpson now 8th, Pacchiarini 9th. Nathanael Spencer pits for new front wing, as he and Jones collide in midfield. Has to jump the curb to make it, as it was just before the entry when they made contact. Outside of final corner littered with wings as more incidents occur at the same time.
Lap 8:
Melrose leads Zimmer, as Cameron pits. No more wings come loose at final corner.
Lap 9:
Zimmer goes fearlessly into the chicane and passes Melrose at turn 3. He immediately pulls away. Pacchiarini is now 3rd, Mann 4th, Simpson 5th, Watkinson 6th. Lon is now back to 8th, behind Jones. Until Jones pits, anyway.
Lap 10:
Zimmer now with massive lead over Melrose, Pacchiarini and Mann. Lon gets to 7th at turn 4 with a move on Adam Lewis. Older Jr becomes a mobile chicane for Shizuka, Cameron, Spencer and Jones.
Lap 11:
Epic sounds are heard as the 14-car pack all shift down for the last corner at once (really, it sounds awesome). Zimmer pushes further ahead, while Melrose drops to 4th.
Lap 12:
Melrose and Mann narrowly miss each other at the chicane, but Melrose wins out to take 3rd. Mann then drops to 5th, behind a fast Lon. Lon then takes Melrose around the outside at the final corner for 2nd, while Mann sneaks up the inside, only to miss a gear and let Pacchiarini through. Lewis pits from 6th. He emerges almost a lap down on Zimmer.
Lap 13:
Jones passes De Bock at the back for 17th. Pacchiarini now 2nd, Lon 3rd and Melrose 4th. Redman up to 5th, Simpson 11th. Watkinson down to 13th. McAllister now 9th.
Lap 14:
Melrose retakes 3rd, and then 2nd. Pacchiarini drops to 4th. Redman up to 5th. Mann back to 8th. Simpson pits from 7th.
Lap 15:
Zimmer now about to lap De Bock, and lapped Simpson while he was stationary. Melrose starts to open gap to Lon, who is 3rd. Dan BH is now 4th. A front wing tries to take off, gravity takes effect. Order is:
Zimmer, Melrose, Lon, BH, Pacchiarini, Redman, Koczo, Cameron, McAllister, Mann, Spencer, Watkinson, Shizuka, Jones, Davies, Older Jr, De Bock, Lewis, Simpson.
Lap 16:
The faster BH chases down and passes Melrose. Lon drops to 9th, behind Watkinson but ahead of Mann. Massive midfield pack still in existence, and explains the continuous position changes.
Lap 17:
Zimmer laps Davies, who is only a few seconds behind the main pack. Teammate De Bock is now in last place, and still yet to pit. Melrose 4th behind Koczo. Watkinson and Davies both pit (but Davies is a lap down). Another wing flies off at the last corner, however only Spencer actually replaced his (A futile effort, since it’s gone again anyway).
Lap 18:
Zimmer now right on back of pack, with the worst off being the 13th placed Douglas Mann.
Lap 19:
Older Jr pits from a lap down. Zimmer pits. Yes, that’s right. Well, he stopped on lap 1, so what did you expect? Everyone unlaps themselves. Redman also pits. Zimmer takes very long time, and comes out in 3rd. Dan BH now leads.
Lap 20:
Dan BH and David Koczo are fighting, but both have a large advantage back to Zimmer and Cameron.
Lap 21:
Pacchiarini (8th), Lon (9th), Mann (11th), Melrose (13th) and De Bock (18th) are the only drivers yet to stop. De Bock erases his name from that list by pitting (but still a lap down on BH and Koczo).
Lap 22:
Melrose stops from 14th, comes out a lap down.
Lap 23:
Koczo passes BH for the race lead. Zimmer, on newer tyres, is catching them both. Mann pits.
Lap 24:
Because he’s such an awesome guy, Melrose lets Zimmer through with no fuss, but proceeds to hold up Cameron. Pacchiarini pits.
Lap 25:
Speculation is abound that Zimmer may have jumped the gun in the timing for his second stop, as McAllister, Koczo, BH and Shizuka and Spencer then should all have stopped a second time by now. He is, however, still gaining on Koczo and BH, and it will be interesting to see if he catches them before the end of the race. In other news, Lon is now the last driver to pit when he does at the end of the lap.
Lap 26:
Koczo is just starting to creep further away from BH, as Zimmer continues to close in.
Lap 27:
Zimmer loses ground on the leaders, and it now looks hopeless for him.
Lap 29:
Zimmer is now way too far back, and in order to win both BH and Koczo will have to pit at the end of this lap.
Lap 30:
Which is exactly what they didn’t do. And the winner of the Adelaide round of the F1RWRS is – DAVID KOCZO! By 3.43 seconds over Dan BH.

Douglas Mann wrote:So I seem OK at qualifying but the races are terrible. And how come I fall back to 13th by lap 18, then lead a lap on lap 23 as I come into the pits and finish 17th a lap down? I am consisantly being pitted too late by the team and I feel let down. If this happens, I am definately quitting, and my previously mentioned sister, Pippa Mann has agreed to replace me to see if she can do any better - sibling rivalry you see.

Hagane Shizuka wrote:Awww, just out of the points! We now had a bit better pace than in the previous races. I like Adelaide and it showed. If I got a tad better pit stop, I would have finished ahead of Watkinson to clinch one point, but I'm happy to see the team had found some time this race. I'm delighted to see Lewis finish in 9th position. He is now ahead of me in points, but there's still time time left. Hope to see a double point-scoring finish soon!
