You're right... somehow I stuffed up their points in Japan aswell with the flow-on effects into Korea

EDIT: Just did a check of the past few races and it seems that Shizuka forgot to add Hulkenberg's 7th place at Italy to the team's total and both of us stuffed up royally with Hulkenberg's result in Singapore aswell and neither of us picked up on either error...

Interesting comparison of the championship permutations using each system:

1991-2002
Webber needs to win with Alonso 3rd or worse
Vettel needs to win with Alonso 5th or worse

2003-2009
Webber needs to win with Alonso 3rd or worse
Vettel needs to win with Alonso 5th or worse

2010
Webber needs to win with Alonso 3rd or worse
Vettel needs to win with Alonso 5th or worse

Funny that.

Using the really old system of 8-6-4-3-2 with a point for fastest lap then by jolly webber only has an outside chance.

Code: Select all

Vettel      83 (ironically Champion in how Bernie wanted it with most wins...)
Webber      75 (would need a win and fastest lap and hope vettel gets zero points)
Alonso      67
Hamilton    65
Button      45
Massa       33
Kubica      25
Rosberg     21
Schumacher   6
Barrichello  5
Sutil        4
Petrov       3

Using 60% of race results as they used to do in the old days (taking 1958 as the year), then the best 11 results would score points. then Vettel has the championship!

Code: Select all

Vettel      77 (if won or 2nd would lose a 3rd (so score 4 or 2 points), or score zero points for a 3rd, 4th or 5th)
Webber      71 (if won then would lose a 2nd (so score 2 points)
Alonso      65 (if won, 2nd or 3rd would lose a 4th (so score 5, 3 or 1 point)
Hamilton    63 (if won, 2nd or 3rd would lose a 4th (so score 5, 3 or 1 point)
Button      45
Massa       33
Kubica      25
Rosberg     21
Schumacher   6
Barrichello  5
Sutil        4
Petrov       3

Using the 1980 to 1984 system then it would be closer!

Code: Select all

Webber      78
Vettel      77
Alonso      72
Hamilton    64
Button      46
Massa       27
Kubica      25
Rosberg     22
Schumacher   7
Barrichello  6
Sutil        5
Petrov       2
Kobayashi    1
Hulkenberg   1
Liuzzi       1

Can you please compare them with the 1960-1990 and 1950-1959 points systems too? Please?? :3

Another season under that points system where Alonso and Hamilton end up on (almost) the same points, very close behind the eventual champion?

And being trumped by the person who is third going into the final race?

In both standings, Vettel wins by three.
In real standings, Vettel wins by four.
