What happens when I sleep? Barii Mori is accepted at Phoenix-Hart. 3 cars is sad, but you could do what the Manns did for Shizuka, and field a B-Team.

Pick a team, you can make your own, or join a single car team (I think Club Bangelia Racing, CR Motosport, Trueba Racing and Hemogoblin Autowerks have spots open. And Pacchia now...)

The Australian Minardi team has scraped enough funds to build a second car for a pay-driver. Applications to join the team are now open.
This is a cool spot.

RACE #6 - SILVERSTONE
Qualifying:

The Prospecs look strong here at Silverstone, where they took a 1-3 last year, with Spencer winning his home race. This year, David Koczo took pole while Spencer took 3rd, with Pippa Mann putting in a strong performance to split the pair. Of the debutants, Jeroen Krautmeir was the best, qualifying 7th, while the ArrowTech cars were 11th and a disappointing 17th for the fastest pre-qualifier Jari Kekonen.

1st: Prospec - David KOCZO: 1:04.04
2nd: Anglo-Manx Racing - Pippa MANN: +0.07
3rd: Prospec - Nathanael SPENCER: +0.19
4th: Team Calinetic - Gary CAMERON: +0.33
5th: JLD Motorsport - Daniel MELROSE: +0.47
6th: Australian Minardi - Dave SIMPSON: +0.59
7th: JLD Motorsport - Jeroen KRAUTMEIR: +0.66
8th: Zimmer-Holden Racing - Frank ZIMMER: +0.79
9th: Kahama Motor Sport - Simon REDMAN: +0.88
10th: CR Motorsport - Darren OLDER JR: +1.03
11th: ArrowTech Racing - Nicolas STEELE: +1.19
12th: Hemogoblin Autowerks - T. HEMO GOBLIN: +1.22
13th: RubberTex-Jones Racing - Chris DAGNALL: +1.44
14th: Trueba Racing - Giovanni RODA: +1.57
15th: Anglo-Manx Racing - Douglas MANN: +1.59
16th: Mann-Anglo-Nippon Team - Hagane SHIZUKA: +1.71
17th: ArrowTech Racing - Jari KEKONEN: +1.81
18th: Phoenix-Hart - Phoenix MCALLISTER: +2.02
19th: Kahama Motor Sport - Kay LON: +2.07

Race:
Lap 1:
The start was quiet, as Hemo Goblin was the only driver to gain a spot, passing Steele into Copse. At Abbey, however, Simpson took a brave dive and passed Cameron and Melrose. A mistake at the same corner from Krautmeir saw Zimmer and Older Jr get through.
Lap 2:
The field split into two groups - the 5 drivers jockeying for the lead (Koczo, Mann, Simpson, Spencer and Cameron), the usual mid-pack (led by Zimmer), and some stragglers (Krautmeir, Hemo Goblin, Douglas Mann, Dagnall, Shizuka, Kekonen, McAllister and Lon).
Lap 3:
The top 3 of Koczo, Mann and Simpson break away, while Zimmer passes Spencer and catches Cameron. In fact, Spencer seems to be well off the pace, as the mid pack catches him and the top 5 disappear down the road. Kay Lon’s car seems to be struggling, as he falls well and truly behind McAllister. Maybe the team couldn’t repair it…
Lap 4:
Koczo starts to open a lead over Mann. Cameron loses some pace and allows Zimmer and Melrose through, also being passed by Spencer at Luffield. Nicolas Steele has dropped out of the mid pack, but still has a handy lead over Krautmeir.
Lap 5:
There are a few battles going on, but no one is actually passing. Steele is still chasing down the pack, having almost rejoined it.
Lap 6:
Steele runs off the road at Stowe, and Krautmeir catches and passes at Abbey. Koczo is pretty much untouchable in the lead, while Mann is under pressure from Simpson. Zimmer continues to hold Melrose at bay, while just keeping in touch with Simpson.
Lap 7:
Cameron makes a small mistake at Stowe, and drops a few spots, but manages to stay in the pack.
Lap 8:
Krautmeir catches the pack. Koczo extends his lead. Zimmer falls back from Mann and Simpson, while Melrose falls back from Zimmer. Spencer gains on Melrose and gets ahead of the pack, with Older Jr, Roda, Cameron, Redman and Krautmeir still in it. Lon continues to lose ground on McAllister.
Lap 9:
Cameron leaves the pack with Older Jr right behind, leaving Redman and Roda to battle, while Krautmeir falls back after a small mistake at Brooklands. Nicolas Steele is the first driver to pit.
Lap 10:
Pippa Mann and Dave Simpson both pit, as does Roda from further back. Jari Kekonen comes in from way behind (by that, I mean the other three have already left).
Lap 11:
Cameron starts to get under the wing of Melrose at some sections, but the JLD’s engine is better down the straights. Simpson jumps Mann in the stops, and the top 7 drivers have open air around them (with the exception of Cameron and Melrose). Krautmeir, Douglas Mann, Hemo Goblin and Dagnall are battling for the last top 10 spots, and another larger pack forms behind with Simpson and Pippa in the midst. Steele is now right behind Lon, while Roda is a few seconds back, and Kekonen is struggling to not go a lap down.
Lap 12:
The race reaches the point where it is difficult to tell who is who, as the field bunches up. Koczo still has a commanding lead over Zimmer, while Cameron can’t quite pass Melrose.
Lap 13:
Simon Redman finds a burst of speed as he climbs to fourth, aided by Cameron, who almost decided on a trip to the beach. He drops to 6th, while Redman is now the one pressuring Melrose.
Lap 14:
Redman passes Melrose, and tries to pass Zimmer down the main straight. Melrose decides to pit for new tyres.
Lap 15:
Koczo pits, and is edged out to the line by Dave Simpson, missing out on being only the second driver (?) to have led for half a race (Dagnall did it at Oschersleben) by mere metres. The strange part was Nathanael Spencer also stopped. Crucially (sorry), both emerged behind Melrose!
Lap 16:
Simpson, having already stopped, builds a massive lead over Zimmer throughout the course of the lap. The next best stopper is Pippa Mann, stuck down in 12th!
Lap 17:
Simpson has a simply massive lead over Zimmer and Older Jr, who swapped positions at almost every corner. Redman and Dagnall both pit. Kekonen finally gets past Lon, while Melrose and the Prospecs are catching fast.
Lap 18:
Zimmer, Older Jr and Cameron are locked in battle for 2nd place, although all 3 are yet to pit. Pippa Mann is still stuck in the midfield, but Nicolas Steele is now way ahead, currently 7th, and in clean air! Melrose passes Lon, but Koczo can’t quite manage it. Spencer seems to just fall slightly behind.
Lap 19:
Simpson still leads, and laps Dagnall. Steele is now second, after virtually every remaining car pits, including Zimmer, Older Jr, Krautmeir, Cameron, Hemo Goblin, McAllister and Douglas Mann. Lon also files in after them. This leaves Hagane Shizuka as the last driver to stop. Every single one of them goes a lap down.
Lap 20:
This is Simpson’s race to lose, as he has a gigantic lead over Steele. With the massive amount of stoppers, Pippa Mann is promoted to 3rd, with Daniel Melrose right behind. Giovanni Roda is 5th, with Kekonen in 6th. Koczo, Shizuka, Spencer and Redman finish off the top 10.
Lap 21:
Nothing happened.
Lap 22:
This is the point where concentration matters, because I need to figure out who is still a lap down. The fact that no one is close enough to pass anyone else helps slightly. Shizuka pits.
Lap 23:
Zimmer passes Dagnall for 10th place.
Lap 24:
Melrose passes Steele for 2nd, and I lose track of Simpson for a second.
Lap 25:
There he is! Pippa Mann passes Steele for third. The ArrowTech is on the oldest tyres and it is starting to show.
Lap 26:
The only interesting battle is Shizuka vs. Kekonen; and Shizuka is two laps down!
Lap 27:
More nothing.
Lap 28:
Koczo passes Mann for 3rd.
Lap 29:
Still more.
Lap 30:
And so, by a large margin, Dave Simpson takes the win at Silverstone! Daniel Melrose (eventually) finishes second, and David Koczo rounds out the podium.

1st: Dave Simpson (Australian Minardi): 37 minutes, 12.28 seconds
2nd: Daniel Melrose (JLD Motorsport): +56.14

This was my first race, only about getting used to the car and team, so I didn't expect much in this race.
Also, it's interesting to see Mr. Mann finish only one spot ahead of me in both quali and race, while his sister is in the front.

Douglas Mann wants to apologise to Shizuka-san for an uncompetitive race, but hey, at least we qualified (well, only just in my case!). Things can only get better!

And Pippa Mann, she who must be obeyed, was estatic with her qualifying and qualifying, 2nd in both cases, which made her 4th seem disappointing, but was a good result nonetheless.

This is what happens when I get bored: I redid the results from season 1 using this year's point system.

1st: Frank Zimmer - 54
2nd: David Koczo - 52
3rd: Dan BH - 51
4th: Gary Cameron - 48
= 5th: Dave Simpson - 47
= 5th: Nathanael Spencer - 47
7th: Luca Pacchiarini - 33
8th: Ashley Watkinson - 23
9th: James Davies - 21
10th: Sammy Jones - 19
11th: Phoenix McAllister - 11
12th: Simon Redman - 8
13th: Adam Lewis - 6
14th: Douglas Mann - 5
= 15th: Hagane Shizuka - 4
= 15th: Kay Lon - 4
17th: Daniel Melrose - 3
= 18th: Thomas De Bock - 2
= 18th: Darren Older Jr - 2
20th: Chris Dagnall - 1

Gary Cameron is punished by his lack of wins, but the epic part was the final race at Eastern Creek - 6 drivers were still in contention! After Silverstone, those still in contention were:
David Koczo - 49 (finished 7th for 2 points)
Gary Cameron - 48 (finished 10th for no points)
Dave Simpson - 47 (finished 13th for no points)
Nathanael Spencer - 42 (finished 5th + fastest lap for 5 points)
Dan BH - 41 (finished 2nd for 10 points)
Frank Zimmer - 39 (finished 1st for 15 points)

Talk about flukes...

Daniel Melrose wrote:2nd place at Silverstone after the win at Spa was a brilliant achievement from the team as during the design phase of the JLD M2 we were concerned about the aero-efficiency of the car.

Besides that Jeroen Krautmeir has in one race vindicated our decision to pursue him as he's proven that he is very quick over one lap but a poor strategy ruined any chance he had of scoring points on debut.

Being just point two of a second slower than Daniel was obviously an achievement, considering how little time I've had to get familiar with the car. Their (the cars) far more powerful than anything, I've, err, driven before, and to see Daniel finish 2nd, and me only 14th, it didn't feel good at all! The least I wanted was a top 10 finish, but sadly, I didn't get that either. Yes, the team perhaps bungled up their strategy a bit, but mistakes happen, and I don't want to criticize anyone in any way. I hope that my performances have justified my presence in the team, and I look forward to the next race.

The main problem here was Dougal Kerr still doesn't have a team, but didn't qualify, so that's not a big one for now. After this race, I'm going to modify the pre-quali rules. The top 15 drivers in the championship standings will be exempt, but the rest, and any newbies, still have to compete for the last 4 spots.

As team boss of MAN, Douglas Mann has to apologise to Hagane Shizuka for not providing him with a consistantly fast enough car. Mind you, if Shizuka-san was regularly qualifying, Douglas Mann would be wanting to nick his set-up! And with the imminant changes to pre-qualifying, Douglas is concerned about his precarious poisition in 13th= and is sad that Shizuka-san is just outside the top 15 by just a few points and is now stuck with a DNQ, unable to improve on his points total.

Meanwhile, Pippa Mann just gets on with it quite happily, in her own little world, showing her brother and his friend/collegue up.

Let's hope so! You only need to find a few hundreths, based on this performance, Douglas Mann was half-a-second off the pace.

RACE #7 - SNETTERTON
Qualifying:

Talk about a return to form! After struggling for most of the season, Ashley Watkinson pulled out a magnificent lap to put the rather useless Pacchia on pole! Team owner Luca Pacchiarini, meanwhile, was an anonymous 15th. Last race's new drivers were all brought crashing back to earth, with Jeroen Krautmeir 13th, while the two ArrowTech Racing entries of Jari Kekonen and Nicolas Steele were 17th and 18th. For Phoenix-Hart, who recently announced a switch to Porsche engines, the weekend got worse, as debutant Barii Mori put it in a solid 19th.

1st: Pacchia-Coswojuddhartlambo - Ashley WATKINSON: 0:40.71
2nd: Prospec - David KOCZO: +0.05
3rd: Zimmer-Holden Racing - Frank ZIMMER: +0.14
4th: JLD Motorsport - Daniel MELROSE: +0.24
5th: Australian Minardi - Dave SIMPSON: +0.30
6th: Prospec - Nathanael SPENCER: +0.35
7th: Team Calinetic - Gary CAMERON: +0.47
8th: Hemogoblin Autowerks - T. HEMO GOBLIN: +0.50
9th: Anglo-Manx Racing - Pippa MANN: +0.66
10th: Kahama Motor Sport - Simon REDMAN: +0.73
11th: Team Calinetic - Thomas DE BOCK: +0.83
12th: Club Bangelia Racing - James DAVIES: +0.84
13th: JLD Motorsport - Jeroen KRAUTMEIR: +0.90
14th: Trueba Racing - Giovanni RODA: +0.99
15th: Pacchia-Coswojuddhartlambo - Luca PACCHIARINI: +1.06
16th: RubberTex-Jones Racing - Chris DAGNALL: +1.10
17th: ArrowTech Racing - Jari KEKONEN: +1.26
18th: ArrowTech Racing - Nicolas STEELE: +1.27
19th: Phoenix-Hart - Barii MORI: +1.28

Lap 1:
Watkinson held the lead for the entire lap, while Daniel Melrose went backwards. At the back, Kekonen got the jump on Chris Dagnall, and Barii Mori used Dagnall’s slipstream to pass him going into the Esses. Nicolas Steele, however, found himself in last place, after the highs of Silverstone.
Lap 2:
Koczo makes a mistake at the first corner, and Zimmer and Cameron get through, as well as Simpson going into the chicane. Mori has found some pace, and passes Kekonen on the back straight.
Lap 3:
Watkinson goes off the road at the Bomb Hole, and Zimmer sneaks through to take the lead. Koczo gets to third, and takes Spencer with him, as the Prospecs find a good rhythm.
Lap 4:
Koczo closes on Watkinson, while Spencer overshoots his braking for turn 2, and Simpson and De Bock get past. Gary Cameron has been going backwards through the pack, but Melrose has dropped to 10th. Barii Mori becomes the first driver to stop.
Lap 5:
And he comes out a lap down, thanks to the short length of the track. Koczo passes Watkinson for second at the Esses.
Lap 6:
Melrose starts to make some passes stick, and finds his way up to 6th. Koczo has some serious speed, as he quickly gains on Zimmer. Mori also unlaps himself, showing the advantage of a set of new tyres.
Lap 7:
Koczo runs wide at the Bomb Hole, and Watkinson passes him. Mori is now right behind Steele, who is rapidly falling behind Dagnall. The only other major battle is that of the drivers in 7th through 10th, Melrose, Cameron, Pippa Mann and Simon Redman, as everyone else starts to spread out.
Lap 8:
It’s Watkinson’s turn to gain on Zimmer, while Koczo starts to fall back. The top 5 of Zimmer, Watkinson, Koczo, Simpson and De Bock start to pull away from everyone else, while Spencer falls back towards the pack. Kekonen is now pressuring Davies.
Lap 9:
Simpson passes Koczo while Spencer passes De Bock. Pacchiarini makes a mistake at turn 2, and ruins the passing move of Steele on Davies. Daniel Melrose makes his stop.
Lap 10:
Simpson also passes Watkinson for second, and starts to chase down Zimmer. Koczo and Spencer are now battling for 4th, while everyone from 6th back, with the exception of Melrose and James Davies (who pits), has reformed into a massive pack.
Lap 11:
Koczo pits from 4th place, as does Cameron from 7th and Mann from 9th. Cameron’s pit crew pull out a magnificent stop to leapfrog Koczo!
Lap 12:
Watkinson finds a bit of pace and gets under the wing of Zimmer. Redman finds his way to 4th, out braking Simpson at the chicane. Hemo Goblin is now 6th, and Giovanni Roda 7th. Mori is now up to 12th, but has only actually passed Pacchiarini and Dagnall on the road. He still hasn’t been able to get past Steele, who is doing a brilliant job of defensive driving.
Lap 13:
Redman takes 3rd and Roda 4th as Spencer comes very close to ending his race at the second corner (there’s an annoying little building on the inside). Jeroen Krautmeir has found his way into 6th, with Simpson 7th, Steele now 8th, De Bock 9th and Hemo Goblin rounding out the top 10. The slowest car is arguably (and I hate to say this) the RubberTex of Chris Dagnall, who is losing ground to Pacchiarini (who is probably the second slowest).
Lap 14:
Redman is now 2nd, passing Watkinson at the Esses. Simpson and Spencer pass Roda, while Steele is now 7th, after passing Krautmeir.
Lap 15:
Redman runs off the road at the second corner, undoing all his hard work. Simpson is now the one who is right behind Zimmer, with Spencer 3rd and Watkinson 4th. After a poor qualifying, both ArrowTechs are running in the top 10, with Steele 7th and Kekonen 9th. Mori has proven just how bad the Hart engine is, after Melrose passes him on the back straight despite a massive slide on his way there.
Lap 16:
Simpson is now in the lead, in a car with a much better engine than Zimmer’s. Steele has stopped driving defensively, and fights his way to 4th, behind Spencer and ahead of Roda.
Lap 17:
Roda passes Steele for 3rd, while Watkinson is stuck in 5th place, trying to hold off Redman. Simpson and Zimmer have both pulled ahead of the rest of the field. Spencer and Dagnall both pit. Believe it or not, but Dagnall gets out in front!
Lap 18:
Zimmer gets back past Simpson, and Steele takes 3rd back from Roda. Krautmeir is now 5th, with Kekonen 6th, Redman 7th and Hemo Goblin 8th. Melrose, the best of the stoppers, is now in the top 10, and looks set for victory, if he can avoid any mistakes. Mori, the first to stop, is now 14th, just ahead of Cameron. Pippa Mann has also passed Koczo. Watkinson and De Bock both pit.
Lap 19:
Simpson and Zimmer continue their duel, with Simpson leading across the line. Roda, Krautmeir and Steele all pit.
Lap 20:
Melrose takes the lead from Simpson, and Cameron takes 3rd from Zimmer. Of the drivers yet to stop, Simpson and Zimmer are two of them, while Redman (6th), Hemo Goblin (7th), Kekonen (11th) and Pacchiarini (12th) are the others.
Lap 21:
Cameron passes Simpson quickly, and sets up an exciting end to the race, just a second down on Melrose, with newer tyres. Koczo also gets onto the podium, and Zimmer passes Simpson as well.
Lap 22:
Cameron loses a second on that lap, after a small excursion at the Bomb Hole. Zimmer, Simpson and Hemo Goblin are battling for 4th, 5th and 6th, while Redman is 10th and Pacchiarini is in his usual gap, down in 13th. Kekonen decides to pit.
Lap 23:
Oh dear. Zimmer and Simpson come together at turn 2, and Zimmer spears off into the wall, while Simpson spins. He would have been able to continue, if Hemo Goblin had better reflexes. All three drivers are out, and Simpson’s car is still in the middle of the track!
Lap 24:
Nothing happened.
Lap 27:
The final stops of the race occur, as Redman and Pacchiarini file in. They emerge way behind Kekonen, and are easily a lap down.
Lap 28:
Pacchiarini forgets about Simpson’s car, and can’t get out of the way in time.
Lap 30:
And so, after a fairly boring race, Daniel Melrose takes his second victory, ahead of Gary Cameron and David Koczo.

So, with Snetterton complete, we can figure out who still has to pre-qualify:

16th: James Davies (7)
= 17th: Ashley Watkinson (6)
= 17th: John Zimmer (6)
19th: Hagane Shizuka (5)
20th: Nicolas Steele (4)
21st: Barii Mori (3)
22nd: Darren Older Jr (1)
= 23rd: Jeroen Krautmeir (0)
= 23rd: Jari Kekonen (0)
= 23rd: Sammy Jones (0)
= 23rd: Kay Lon (0)
= 23rd: Dougal Kerr (0)
= 23rd: Aurelian Moll (0)

To make it fair, they'll go one at a time in the same car, so only the game's inconsistency will hurt any of them.

Daniel Melrose wrote:The changes we made to to both cars after Pre-Qualifying must have worked wonders for me atleast as I've now taken our second win of the season and third podium finish in a row. However I feel sorry for Jeroen as he was complaining that the car was suffering from oversteer for most of the race especially on new tyres and as a result of the new rule changes he'll have to face the Pre-Qualifying challenge. JLD has an update package ready for the cars at the next race at Brands Hatch which I will be using. This package is also avaliable for Jeroen but it's his call as to whether he wants to use it or not.

We'll work in our chassis as well; I think we'll be able to ditch the AP04s by the last race of the season and field an in-house designs that should fit nicely with the Porsche powerplant: the PP1. Again, thanks to Barii Mori for the sponsorship he brough which has allowed us to take this vital step forward. Go home, Colin Kolles!

Douglas Mann is thankful thant he managed to remain in the top 15 to avoid pre-qualifying for the next round and wishes Shizuka-san all the best for the next round as he still has to pre-qualify the Man Anglo-Nippon (MAN) car.

And Pippa Mann continues to uphold Manx honour by coming fourth and scoring more points for the Anglo-Manx Racing team. Her response when discussing her second 4th place in a row with her brother in the post-race debrief? :P Douglas's reply?

I pitted early to get rid of the qualifing boots I had which were worn and flat spotted due to heavy braking under traffic and drove well on the new boots. Ending up 6th and making up 13 places is a fantastic result which i hope shows my driving skills as the chassis was drivable but the engine lacked top end speed and acceleration. I look forward to the next race and hopefully should pre qualify.

Sammy JONES: 0:50.98
Ashley WATKINSON: 0:50.98

Nicolas STEELE: 0:51.01
John ZIMMER: 0:51.01
Kay LON: 0:51.01
Jeroen KRAUTMEIR: 0:51.03

Qualified for race
Did not qualify

TIEBREAKER RACE (top 2 qualify):

Purely because I can, I took some photos from the F1RWRS race at Snetterton, despite the crap quality.

Image
Barii Mori, on the right, puts a move on Chris Dagnall.

Image
David Koczo runs wide and lets Gary Cameron and Frank Zimmer through.

Image
Ashley Watkinson runs off at the Bomb Hole, and very nearly takes out Zimmer.

Image
An in-car view as Watkinson gets in the slipstream of Zimmer.

Image
Image
Zimmer and Dave Simpson come together at the second corner, and then Hemo Goblin gets involved.

Sorry if you can't see due to the quality, I had no better means than the webcam on my laptop. Yep, I'm that awesome. *cough, cough* *shifty eyes*
