I´m very glad we finally got the 2nd place in the championship, thanks to the extraordinary drive by Ayrton today. I´m rushing now to the hospital to see how Chris is. He´s given the team lots of good moments and a great strike of wins this year when nobody thought it would be possible. The whole Mclaren team wish him a fast recovery and all the good luck for the future.
Royal Adelaide Hospital, Monday 9th November 1992
Wizzie Magazine: Mr. Dagnall, could you confirm the estate of your injury?
Chris Dagnall: The doctors have diagnosed a broken elbow. They estimate it will take around 4 months and a half to fully recover.
Wizzie Magazine: Will you make it for the beggining of the 1993 season?
Chris Dagnall: I hope I can make it to Interlagos. I´m almost sure we´ll be there, but I´m afraid I´m going to miss all the pre-season testing, which is specially inconvenient since I´m joining a new team.
Wizzie Magazine: Do you remember anything of the accident.
Chris Dagnall: Yes, I do ... On lap five I went over the kerb at the entrance of the straight, then lost the car and hit the wall, losing a front wheel. Then somebody came from behind and I don´t remember anything after the impact.

There's no GP2 version of Montreal with the chicane in the long stright?
And about Monza... what they did exactly change in 1995? I know they changed the Curva Grande to increase the run-off, but that was in 1994 IIRC.
Chris Dagnall:
I wanna be quite frank about the car and the teams hopes for this season. Much has been said but our main target should stay to finish ahead of Ligier and Footwork. I don´t think is a realistic goal to beat Ferrari or Benetton. Not for this year at least.
Chris Dagnall:
I´m very happy with the result. The car is quite easy to drive, but in terms of power it´s like going back to 1989! I´ve had loads of fun fighting with Martin. It was hard to keep him behind for such a long time as I think he was faster on used tyres, and his engine seems to be a lot more powerful than ours. I guess he knows the Lotus sponsors much better than me now!! I have to thank the team and specially the physical trainers who helped me out a lot to make my presence possible here in Brazil. Now I´m really looking forward for the rest of the season!

I´m sure I would have finished in the podium as we had the right call for fuel and tyres but the engine just let me down. However, I´m really happy for Johnny and this result shows that we have the potential to be there.

I was with the cold tyres and didn´t measure the risk right, despite having had problems at Coppice the whole weekend. Even though we didn´t get a positive result I would like to remark that we´re doing well during the races and we´re following the right path. I hope next time there´s a 2nd GP in the UK we go back to Brands Hatch, I miss it!

I´m inmensely proud of the team for this achievement! I couldn´t believe it when I was able to pass Damon Hill. I don´t know if this drive is among my very best, but I can tell you it´s more rewarding to get this 2nd place than an easy win when you have the best car around. Anyway, we have to be positive but not overdo things now, there´s 12 races left and we have to work hard to beat the Ligiers
Chris Dagnall said:
I won´t stop thinking how wonderful the 2nd position would have been, the 4th place is a great result anyway. Today that tyre failed, but on San Marino it was me who benefited from Hill´s retirement for example. At least we´ve reached the goal, this result should make the team stronger

Chris Dagnall:
This result is very positive. I didn´t expect to score points today but everything went our way today so I´m glad to have done a good race at Monaco again. Johnny was really unlucky, but at least he got a point which is important for the team, having in count that our main rivals didn´t score. The next 4 races are held in reasonably fast tracks so we should do well there.
