ROAL Motorsport founder and director Roberto Ravaglia is to become JLD's new chief strategist and crew chief from the beginning of next season. It is believed that Ravaglia will still run his ROAL Motorsport team from their base in Italy but he will run it along with the MRT squad from next season. JLD/MRT's recuriting spree continues in other areas as well as former Champ Car Champion and F1 driver Alex Zanardi was hired as Jeroen Krautmeir's new race engineer for the rest of this season and into next season should Krautmeir renew his contract. Should Krautmeir move elsewhere then Zanardi would become Melrose's race engineer. Melrose's current race engineer Jack Slaben's contract runs out at the end of this season but the smart money is he'll be retained next season should Krautmeir stay.

Still I am happy that after our official complaint about qualifying that the organisers have introduced new rules which means that same times are less likely to happen.

Grease Monkey Magazine wrote:ArrowTech Racing has the agony of obtaining a double DNPQ. This rather upset the crew on Saturday afternoon, as Jari Kekkonen, driver for the team, explains. "We're trying really hard right now, all we have to do is score some points and improve our pit stragedy, and we'll be fine in scoring points. I just hope to god we score some points soon or we'll be stuck in Pre-Qualifying like the other teams I keep hearing about on F1 Rejects!" On the other hand, the other driver, Nicolas Steele, was reported to have thrown pencils, papers, wrenches, pots, and any other inanimate objects around the paddock. As one of the technicians explain, "he was just in a deep funk. When he scored the fifth place, he became really cocky and started saying that he should get the #1 car, the #1 status, and all that crap. Really, he was quite angry at himself, with Jari topping the qualification charts." Nicolas wasn't available for comment, and he hasn't been available for comment for the past couple of weeks. The manager (and founder), Jeremy McClean, has alerted Nicolas to stop "acting like a b*tch." However, according to McClean, he will not replace any drivers during the season, and only plans to relocate drivers for the next season. One of his hopes is to open (or help open) a B-Team in the league, for new and upcoming drivers, or for drivers who are in a deep funk. Although he isn't sure if he wants to do so yet, McClean is comtemplating the decision. "If I'm going to create a B-Team, there's got to be a demand for it," exclaimed McClean.

RACE #9 - ZANDVOORT
Qualifying:
The highs of victory turned into utter embarassment, as Aurelian Moll put his ECB in last place. Meanwhile, it seems that RubberTex-Jones have brought some upgrades, as Sammy Jones puts his car in 5th, and Chris Dagnall 6th. For what has to be the first time ever, John Zimmer outqualified Frank, putting his HRT in 8th place. A big surprise was the Phoenix-Porsche that will line up alongside Nathanael Spencer on the front row.

Race:
Lap 1:
Gary Cameron got off to a brilliant start, jumping from 3rd to 1st, while Jones passed David Koczo for 4th at the first corner. Unfortunately, Dagnall dropped to 8th, while Daniel Melrose got to 7th, and John Zimmer dropped behind his brother. Before long, Spencer had passed Cameron, and McAllister was utterly outpaced by Jones and Koczo. At the back, Moll got past De Bock, Mann and Roda, and set about hunting down Lon.
Lap 2:
Cameron gets past Spencer at Turn 8, and Dagnall starts to make his way back up the field, getting to 5th. McAllister is struggling, already down to 8th.
Lap 3:
Spencer gets sideways at turn 9 and allows Jones and Koczo through. Melrose gets back in front of Dagnall, and Frank Zimmer follows him through.
Lap 4:
Koczo passes Jones and Cameron to take the lead, while Zimmer passes Melrose. McAllister is 9th, and Dagnall is 10th, stuck in the usual mid-pack.
Lap 5:
The top 5 of Kocz, Cameron, Jones, Spencer and Zimmer have broken away from the pack of Davies, Simpson, Melrose, McAllister and Dagnall. The rest of the field, Redman, John Zimmer, Older Jr, Hemo Goblin, Lon, Moll, Roda, Mann and De Bock, have all spread out, with gaps of 2-4 seconds.
Lap 6:
This is more boring than usual…
Lap 7:
Melrose gets up the inside of Dagnall at turn 1 for 6th, but the pack is still close, and whether he can get away is up to his skill and speed. And he gains another spot when Zimmer takes an excursion at turn 8. We see our first stop as John Zimmer goes in.
Lap 8:
De Bock seems to be the one destined to for slowness, as he was so far behind Zimmer that John still got out ahead of Thomas. Koczo still leads, and has a comfortable advantage over Cameron. Jones is a little further behind, and is just driving a calm race, neither gaining nor losing ground on either Cameron in front or Spencer behind. The drivers from 12th down start to bunch up again. Except for De Bock, who is almost half a lap down.
Lap 9:
While Dagnall holds on to 8th, McAllister has dropped out of the top 10 and doesn’t really look like getting any higher.
Lap 10:
You remember how I said Jones was driving a calm race? Well, Melrose is driving like an insane man, and has already passed Spencer and makes mincemeat of Jones. Spencer also loses a spot to Frank Zimmer, and has Older Jr breathing down his neck.
Lap 11:
Zimmer is now the one with speed, getting back in front of Melrose and Jones, and getting under the wing of Koczo. Melrose decides to pit, as does Cameron, Lon, Older Jr and Mann. All of them get out in front of De Bock.
Lap 12:
Redman now finds some speed and passes Jones for 3rd. Dagnall is now 5th, with Spencer, Hemo Goblin, Dagnall and Davies in the top 10.
Lap 13:
Jones passes Redman, and also gets Koczo as he is forced off line by Zimmer. John Zimmer is stuck behind Moll, and his tyres aren’t working very well. Melrose has already put himself on the back of the pack, with Cameron not too far behind. De Bock also trundles into the pits, still 3 quarters of lap down. He comes out a lap down… on the entire field!
Lap 14:
Koczo gets revenge on Zimmer, and Jones follows him through. Dagnall is now back up to 4th, and McAllister is stuck in 10th. A big question mark will be over Moll after the race, after he was passed by John Zimmer, but ran straight into the back of him on the next corner, retaking the spot and demoting Zimmer to behind Davies, but still ahead of Melrose.
Lap 15:
The entire field, this time including De Bock, is now in one massive group, and it is impossible to track a driver’s passes, when he can so easily gain a spot only to be passed by someone else.
Lap 16:
Spencer leads for the first time since lap 1, as Koczo makes a mistake at the first corner and is severely punished, but gets back to 6th by the end of the lap. John Zimmer is knocked off the road again by Moll, who will have a 20 second time penalty at the end of the race. This time, Melrose does get in front, and gets up to 9th by lap’s end. Hemo Goblin pulls into the pits for his stop.
Lap 17:
It’s now a Prospec 1-2 and RubberTex 3-4, before Simpson’s single car entry ruins it. Melrose had a difficult time getting past McAllister, but manages it in the end.
Lap 18:
Spencer barely keeps his car out of the gravel at turn 1, but Koczo, Dagnall, Jones and Redman all get past. He regains a spot when Jones pits, along with Moll. The RubberTex pit crew misplace a wheel nut, and Moll jumps him.
Lap 19:
Dagnall now leads after a brilliant outside pass at turn 1. It doesn’t like lasting long, as Melrose is already up to 2nd. McAllister and Davies both pit.
Lap 20:
Melrose is now in the lead, but may be in trouble from the stewards, after effectively knocking Dagnall out of the way. Gary Cameron, the next best stopper, is stuck in 4th, with Kay Lon in 6th. At the back, Jones gets in front of Moll.
Lap 21:
Cameron is now second and Lon 4th, but Melrose looks unstoppable. Well, apart from the vibrations that are shaking his car whenever he hits the accelerator…
Lap 22:
And Lon passes Dagnall for 3rd place. Melrose’s vibrations are getting noticeably worse, and Cameron is getting noticeably closer.
Lap 23:
Hemo Goblin is now 4th, with the next best stopper being Jones in 13th. John Zimmer is still being knocked around by virtually every driver, and is really struggling.
Lap 24:
Bugger. I mean yay for Melrose, whose vibration has virtually disappeared. Otherwise, that’s the only news.
Lap 25:
Maybe I was wrong, as Melrose is forced into the pits. He emerges in 4th place. Koczo, Roda and Spencer also pit.
Lap 26:
Cameron laps the three of them. Older Jr is now 5th, with Jones now 6th, as Simpson, Dagnall, Redman and Frank Zimmer all pit. Everyone has now stopped at least once.
Lap 30:
And after a boring couple of laps, Gary Cameron wins his first ever F1RWRS race! Kay Lon is now unrejectified with his first podium, and Hemo Goblin takes his second. With his 5th place, Darren Older Jr is now a top 6 finish from unrejectifiaction himself.

I can honestly say that I've never driven a car that felt so good anyway even during my time at BMW Sauber. The guys did an incredible job which put us in such a competitive position before we had to stop again. However I feel sorry for Jeroen who just seems to be at odds with the car ever since his debut race at Silverstone.

AMR Press Release
Pippa Mann was naturally delighted to score another two points with her 7th place, yet is starting to get flummoxed why Douglas Mann, her brother, and Hagane Shizuka at the family's B-team cannot match her performances, given that they have seemingly equal equipment. Her brother was not available to respond to this retort other than to say that he would be having words with her later. He did agree though that he would love to be doing better, given the oppertunity.

I think I can advance from this podium and maybe take some big results in the remaining races to challenge for fourth place in the team championship. And god knows what will happen in this crazy off-season we can expect.

Thomas De Bock wrote:Yeah, it's been a good weekend, what with the pole, and leading a few laps. Not scoring points in the race was disappointing, but we had problems with the gearbox towards the end of the race, and it was a miracle that we actually got to the end of the race. I'm very happy for Aurelien, who gets his first win in style, and I'm just hoping that we'll both continue to get results.

Aurelien Moll wrote:First of all, I'd like to apologise to John. I overcooked my brakes going into turn 1 at the start, and had problems the whole race, so I couldn't avoid the incidents. It was completely my fault that I kept on braking too late, and my penalty was deserved. 11th isn't so bad, right? At least I'm still out of pre-qualifying.
Thomas De Bock wrote:We really had a bad race today, the car was a dog on heavy fuel, and we couldn't find the right setup. Getting up to 14th in the end was a good achievement, and I'm just hoping this won't happen at every other race! I'm also taking the opportunity to announce that I've signed a contract for next season, but I won't reveal it yet. You'll have to wait until the next race.

Mr. Dagnall said;
I´m going to kill somebody at the box. We had a great car today and could have ended up way ahead with a reasonable strategy as Sammy´s strategy proved. I expect some kind of apology, because it´s not the first time something like this happens.

In light of his recent struggles, Jeroen Krautmeir has been given the first race ready JLD M2B in order to help him get out of pre-qualifying. The chassis was originally going to be driven by championship leader Daniel Melrose but Melrose decided that the constructors championship is far more important in terms of prize money. No members of the JLD team were avaliable for comment but the M2B is rumour to have a new lightweight gerabox and transmission package along with some major rear-end work. The M2B will also run with an updated BMW V10 engine which has been through a major upgrade since the Williams days. The MRT 001 for next season is rumoured to be running with the BMW V8 engine from the BMW Sauber days but that is yet to be comfirmed.

My sponsors are talking to the Phoenix team for an enhanced presence as Footwork are bringing about 40% of the teams budget for next year to the table and one of my oldest sponsors in Mugen Honda is looking to supply a V10 engine for next season. My drive is linked to this, so if we can't agree a deal with Phoenix then I may be driving for a new team else I am looking forward to driving in a Footwork Phoenix Mugen Honda.

RACE #10 - ADELAIDE
Qualifying:
Chris Dagnall has found a return to form by putting his RubberTex on pole position, ahead of David Koczo, Frank Zimmer and Nathanael Spencer. Two of the newer drivers, Barii Mori and Jeroen Krautmeir, both found some pace to qualify 6th and 7th respectively, pretty much embarassing their more experienced teammates.
1st: RubberTex-Jones Racing - Chris DAGNALL: 0:57.24
2nd: Prospec - David KOCZO: +0.09
3rd: NAB-HRT - Frank ZIMMER: +0.20
4th: Prospec - Nathanael SPENCER: +0.31
5th: Team Calinetic - Gary CAMERON: +0.50
6th: Phoenix-Porsche - Barii MORI: +0.52
7th: JLD Motorsport - Jeroen KRAUTMEIR: +0.61
8th: Hemogoblin Autowerks - T. HEMO GOBLIN: +0.72
9th: Kahama Motor Sport - Simon REDMAN: +0.79
10th: Club Bangelia Racing - James DAVIES: +0.97
11th: Trueba Racing - Giovanni RODA: +0.98
12th: Australian Minardi - Dave SIMPSON: +1.14
13th: Mann-Anglo-Nippon - Hagane SHIZUKA: +1.20
14th: JLD Motorsport - Daniel MELROSE: +1.29
15th: Anglo-Manx Racing - Pippa MANN: +1.52
16th: ArrowTech Racing - Jari KEKONEN: +1.55
17th: Phoenix-Porsche - Phoenix MCALLISTER: +1.60
18th: Ecurie de Course Belge - Aurelian MOLL: +1.73
19th: Team Calinetic - Thomas DE BOCK: +1.81
Race:
Lap 1:
Both Prospecs had poor starts, and Koczo was passed by Zimmer, while Cameron got around Spencer. Dagnall, however, held his lead. Simon Redman lost a few spots off the start, dropping to 11th. At turn 9, Zimmer wan very wide, and Cameron and Koczo got through, with Koczo getting Cameron as well at turn 11. Aurelian Moll came in to the pits, seemingly trying to replicate his Brands Hatch performance.
Lap 2:
Cameron passes Koczo at the chicane, but Dagnall is untouchable. For now.
Lap 3:
Krautmeir scrapes the wall at the exit of turn 8, but is fine to continue. He does lose a few spots, however. The new tyres obviously have a massive pace advantage here, as Moll is already right behind De Bock.
Lap 4:
Spencer passes Zimmer at turn 4, but both pass Koczo at turn 9 under brakes.
Lap 5:
If you haven’t guessed, this is so far a pretty boring race… The only thing that happened this time around was Zimmer passing Spencer at turn 7. And Pippa Mann pits, but more to get out of the traffic than to get the new tyres. Davies also loses his front wing at the last corner.
Lap 6:
Spencer passes Zimmer, Moll passes De Bock, and there is a massive battle for 6th between about 5 drivers. And almost everyone else is in a bigger group just behind. Except for Mann. And De Bock.
Lap 7:
Zimmer pits, and Dagnall finally loses his lead to Cameron at the final corner. McAllister comes very close to retirement as he heads down the escape road at turn 4.
Lap 8:
Dagnall and Spencer both pit, giving Cameron a large lead over Koczo. Hemo Goblin has found his way into 3rd, with Barii Mori 4th and Jeroen Krautmeir 5th.
Lap 9:
Spencer is out ahead of Dagnall and barely misses Zimmer on his way back onto the track. Krautmeir passes Mori, and Roda comes in to pit.
Lap 10:
Koczo passes Cameron for the lead, while Moll is up to 6th, having passed Mori at turn 5. Roda oversteers massively at the final corner, and hits the wall, but manages to keep going.
Lap 11:
Cameron gets back in front of Koczo, and Moll passes Redman for 5th. Pippa Mann, meanwhile, is down in 14th and struggling to pass McAllister. Zimmer, Spencer and Dagnall are 16th, 17th and 18th, separated from Mann by De Bock.
Lap 12:
Zimmer passes De Bock, and gets Mann at turn 11 as well. Moll passes Hemo Goblin for 4th, and is looking for a way past Koczo. Krautmeir is now second, having gotten past Koczo at turn 9.
Lap 13:
Koczo goes very late on the brakes at turn 9, and passes Krautmeir and Cameron. Moll gets past Krautmeir for third at the final corner. Pippa Mann is struggling for pace and loses her spot to Spencer and De Bock, who is still on old tyres. Shizuka and Melrose both pit.
Lap 14:
Cameron once again leads, but Moll is now second. Zimmer is up to 6th now, with Spencer stuck behind the 11th placed James Davies, and Dagnall unable to pass Mann. Krautmeir comes in to the pits. While Shizuka passes him, he holds his spot ahead of Melrose.
Lap 15:
Moll takes the lead, and if he doesn’t have to pit, he should take a simple win. Zimmer passes Simpson and Redman to get up to 4th, Spencer finds his way to 9th, and Dagnall passes Mann.
Lap 16:
Moll has a 15 second lead over Zimmer, who out-braked Koczo and Cameron into the chicane. McAllister puts on a burst of speed, and gets to 6th, while Spencer is getting knocked around by a few drivers and loses a spot to Hemo Goblin. And De Bock. Mori and Davies pit. Krautmeir also passes Shizuka at the back of the field. Melrose, however, is really off the pace of his teammate.
Lap 17:
De Bock is now in 7th, behind his teammate, while McAllister is now 4th. Dagnall passed Spencer for 9th at turn 4, and Mori is jumped by Davies in the pits. Redman heads in for his stop.
Lap 18:
Moll laps Davies, Mori and Redman, while Zimmer closes the gap slightly. Dagnall and Spencer continue their battle in the pack, now fighting for 7th. There are at least 7 - no, make that 8 pieces of front wings on the outside of the last corner, similar to last year.
Lap 19:
De Bock and Kekonen both pit, and are immediately lapped by Moll, who has three quarters of a lap on Koczo. Spencer starts to get the upper hand on Dagnall, putting McAllister between them and only with Koczo to beat.
Lap 20:
Dagnall is once again right behind Spencer, with the next best stopper being Krautmeir, in 9th place, between McAllister and Roda.
Lap 21:
Ominous signs for Moll, as Davies unlaps himself. Zimmer is now 10 seconds behind, gaining at half a second a lap. But then, in the midfield - BANG! Spencer and Dagnall come together at turn 8, and Spencer spears straight into the wall! He receives the dreaded flag of black and orange, but manages to hold 4th until he pits. McAllister also heads in.
Lap 22:
The top 6 spots are now held by stoppers, with Moll leading, Zimmer second, Dagnall third, Krautmeir fourth, Roda fifth and Pippa Mann 6th, leaving Dave Simpson 7th and the best of the non-stoppers.
Lap 23:
Moll is seriously held up by traffic, and Zimmer is now within 3 seconds of him.
Lap 24:
Moll gets clear, leaving only the top 6 on the lead lap.
Lap 25:
As Moll tries to lap Mann, there is confusion as she refuses to yield the spot (I remember I mentioned blue flags are advisory). Moll is forced to swerve, almost straight into the pits! Hemo Goblin does pit, but from a lap down. That leaves Koczo, Cameron and Simpson as the last to stop.
Lap 26:
Krautmeir passes Dagnall for P3, in a glorious outside move at turn 9. If he manages to not crash, he will become the latest to unrejectify himself.
Lap 27:
The lapped Cameron and Simpson both pit, but Koczo stays on the track.
Lap 28:
Zimmer is through the worst of the pack, but Moll is now way too far ahead.
Lap 29:
Moll’s tyre situstion is dire, as he has virtually no grip and runs virtually straight ahead at the last corner. Redman passes Mann for P6 just behind. Koczo pits, finally.
Lap 30:
And Moll crosses the line, very slowly of course, to take his second win in 3 races. From 18th on the grid is even better. The fans once again have to settle for an Aussie on the podium as Zimmer comes home second and Krautmeir third.

Race:
