Vitaly Petrov has, on average been the most grid places behind his teammate all year, even worse than Liuzzi. Why the HELL does he have a seat for 2011, and Liuzzi isn't confirmed yet? Liuzzi could wipe the FLOOR with Vitaly.

I think these two points are debatable. Liuzzi still doesn't deserve his seat though.

Also bear in ind how well our driver of the year Kubica has gone this season, he's had some cracking races, putting that Renault in places it really shouldn't be. I'm gonna sound like the Captain here but you can't expect Petrov to match someone who is argued by many people to be a potential world champion in his rookie year can you?

The difference between Petrov being destroyed by his teammate and Liuzzi being destroyed by his teammate is that Petrov's teammate is probably the best driver on the grid as much as I hate to admit it, and Liuzzi's teammate should be out of F1 now. So if Sutil beat Liuzzi, and Sutil didn't do well enough to deserve another go at F1...

I reckon Sutil could give Kubica a challenge if they were in equal machinery. Not a serious threat, but not far behind. And about Kubica putting the Renault where it really shouldn't be, no one has ever thought that Petrov is just slower than Kubica by a country mile and it makes Robert look fantastic?

Are you serious? What are you smoking and can I have some of it too? Sutil at the moment is THE most overrated driver on the field. I mean, all he has to his name is the fourth place in Spa, outside of that he has nothing worthwhile to his name and you are comparing him to Kubica? Get a grip man, get a grip.

There was 4th at Monza last year, but that was because of the car. There, I said it. But if next year's Renault is a front-runner, Kubica will win the title.
I agree that Sutil is largely overrated. But the point is, he said he doesn't particularly want to go to Renault.

I disagree. I'm not saying that Petrov's performance in Abu Dhabi was without the straight-line speed advantage, but I just couldn't imagine Liuzzi holding off Alonso for 50-odd laps in a Renault.

So far, I think the best drivers out there are either Fernando Alonso or Lewis Hamilton. Robert Kubica is a very skilled guy, but he lacks time in a sharp end team to prove he really is up to that level. Remember how good Giancarlo Fisichella was with Benetton and Jordan only to mess it up when he had a Renault that was World Champion in 2005 and 2006?
And Vitantonio Liuzzi doesn't really deserve a place in F1 on merit anymore. Vitaly Petrov is young and has a lot of potential. Liuzzi is just mediocre.

It was a combination of Fisichellaitis and spending far too long in midfield teams. It would have been interesting if he was given something like the 2nd Williams seat back in 2001...

Panis was never he former self after that accident in Canada. However from memory he would have been in contention for the McLaren seat alongside Coulthard in 2002 had he not been driving for BAR at the time.

Yeah, but still, he could've made a few wins, just like DC. I don't think Panis was any slower than DC after his crash.

I think after the crash, Panis became something like a one-lap wonder. If you look at his 1999 qualifying results, he put that Prost in places it probably shouldn't have been, but in the race trim, Trulli outdid him. Perhaps his energy was gone?

If you're beaten by Trulli in race trim something must have gone horribly wrong.

It's pretty much the same. You contract the illness spending far too long in midfield teams.

Prolonged contact to infected drivers increases your chance of contracting Fisichellaitis yourself.

Liuzzi is the Wigan Athletic of Formula 1, keeps hanging around until everyone realises he doesn't deserve to be in the top category of it's sport, and still somehow stays there.
