Who's attending a race this season then?

Post by AndreaModa »

With the news that for my 21st my Dad's got a pair of three day tickets for Silverstone down at Stowe, I thought I'd start a thread about our exploits at races this year!

Anyone else going or planning to go to any of the races this season?

I honestly can't wait till July right now!! :D

I could try looting and see if I get a ticket, but as it stands, I ain't going to a race.

I will also be going to Silverstone. Coincidentally also at Stowe

Wanted to go to Nurburgring as they had a deal that if you booked before 2011, you could have any seat for €100 each (£85) but couldnt get anyone else to go with

I think I'm going to the Canadian GP this year, sitting right at the hairpin. Can't wait! Been waiting for this for almost a decade now, this will be my first time actually going to a race in person.

I might be at the Nürburgring this year, which would be great, as the the last (and only) time I've been to a race in person was the epic 1999 race. Unfortunately, I was only 1, and therefore unable to really understand anything. :(

Unfortunately the money is kind of short right now, so I will pass. And taking into consideration that the two closest races are Valencia and Barcelona, it really is a no brainer (if Portimao replaces Bahrain, then I am the first to buy the ticket). Not even TV, since the races are broadcasted in a paying sports channel that is as expensive as the other hundred channels together that also come with the provider (even so, as I don't live alone the others would have to agree, which is a bit unlikely). For me the only option then is Internet streaming. All hail Internet! :)

I'll be at Silverstone (free! :D ) because my dad's marshalling, so it'll be GA all weekend. I'll probably head to Luffield for qualifying and Maggotts/Becketts, where I was in 2005 to see JPM's move, on the Sunday.

Australia GP or me.

The city gets pumped up for it for the whole week. Got about 2 weeks to wait. Then BANG!!!
Miserable Thierry (Boutsen) staggers round mostly on ten cylinders (out of 12) with no clutch, low oil pressure, bad brakes and no grip to finish tenth, 3 laps down...

(Murray Walkers review of Boutsen's Brazil 1991 race).

Thats a point these days!

I have no idea, might show up in Montreal, but it's looking more and more likely that I will show up at the Toronto GP for IndyCar.

I am also joining the club that will see Indycar but not F-1. Hopefully, I will be on May 1st in the Anhembi track.

A bit late on this thread - but if you have the opportunity you must go to Le Mans. It won't break the bank either, for a general admission ticket which I think is less than 50 Euros you get access to loads of the track, a free bus service which takes you to different parts, and all the stalls behind the main straight. I've been twice ('04 and '07) - it's fabulous.

If you can stretch to the full camping experience it would be even better!

I've also been to Spa (a while ago in '92 and '96) which was also great.

Chnage of circumstances means I can't see myself doing either again for a long time... :(

The prices are indeed very tempting, and you get more than your money's worth compared to a F1 race. I plan to make something of a road trip out of it, having recently passed my test. The final step is convincing my friends that they want to see 24 hours of motorsport in possibly damp and muddy weather... but that's where the beer comes in ;)
Hopefully those of us lucky enough to be out and about this year can share photos here for the rest, I love seeing trackside shots and more !

Also, you'll see some amazing road cars around too if you're into that kind of thing.

I will be at Albert Park. Depending on the championship situation, I might make the journey to one of the races later in the year.

The last two times I went McLaren won (2008 and 2010), so I'm hoping for something else this time, to at least hear a different anthem!

Superb! Incredible place! You have to go to the old banking and to the tether car track. I'm definitely going to Monza to spectate and whatever other races I make it to working in GP3.

I'm going back to Portugal in early April and I'll be there for the Malaysian Grand Prix. Just how bad is the commentary on SportTV?

I went to the Rolex 24 already this year, simply amazing. I'm going back next year.

Probably going to go to the Grand Am races at New Jersey Motorsports Park and Lime Rock. Possibly the Northeast and Baltimore Grand Prix as well. A new acquaintance of mine and I are mulling over getting tickets to the Nascar race at Dover. No F1, not yet, that costs too much money and Montreal is quite a drive.

Too anyone who lives in the New York area and wants to see a Nascar race, DO NOT GO TO POCONO. Horrible facilities, horrible parking, poor racing, and you can't see anything. You're better off going to Loudon, Watkins Glen, or Dover.

There's a tether car track along from the paddock towards the first corner, if I remember correctly. I found it by accident in 2004.

Definitely going to have to check that out. Will I have time to watch the GP as well? I'm only at Monza for the one day...

Which day are you going? Make sure you get there early and I do mean EARLY. Think 5-6 in the morning even if you've got a grandstand seat.

Sunday. Will be in South-East Italy until the Saturday morning, then driving to Monza region during Saturday, doing the GP Sunday then onto France Monday. Will be doing Col de Turini and Monaco on drive down to Italy a week before.

It does sound good doesn't it? I get home on the Friday following the Grand Prix, then two days later, on the Sunday, I will be moving into uni halls to begin my first year at Brunel Uni in west London. And the following weekend, I may well be off to the Isle of Man for my godmother's daughter's wedding reception... A busy month!
