(REAL WORLD) That's the problems of a long day for you, complete with a much earlier start than usual due to science GCSE exams.
No problems. Hope the exams go/went well!

This qualification showed were our team is. Somewhere around being the fifth best. Or we're even farther back, and I'm making it look like I'm taking the team forward alone... James needs to get a bit better equipment if Mr. Briattore is playing the Benetton team as a one-horse team. I do NOT want to get preferial treatment.

Be careful what you wish for with Flav because you'll probably end up getting it.

So James finally pulled a better result, setting his car more towards rain conditions than I did, but it's not enough. We at least finished. The realistic target for us is to finish the championship now is in the 6th place in the WCC, in the WDC it's a top 10 for one of us.

Damon Cannon wrote:Not after my qualifying performance and my first lap did I think I would end winning back to back races. I suffered a puncture in the first lap after coming into contact with Christopherson's front wing, dropping me to last place on 3 tyres. It was lucky though that the heavens opened with force just as I entered the pits, meaning I could change to wets, as well as witness virtually everyone else slide off in front of me. The only scary part was a monster crash on the back straight on lap 33 involving my team mate and Krautmier's Prost, where Krautmier was unsighted and ploughed into the back of Older Jr coming to the end of the straight. I was behind trying to lap them when all of a sudden I could only see wreckage around me. Thank God both were alright. This win means I'm now right in the fight for the title with Melrose, Douglas Mann and Zapatero.

Pippa Mann wrote:That rain, grrrrrr!!!! Could have done without that. I spun coming out of the final bend, touched the wet white line on the exit and from there I was a passenger all the way to hitting the pit wall. I know it seemed similar to Montermini's crash here in 1994 but thankfully the cars are stronger nowadays.

Phoenix McAllister wrote:Well it was time at last to have a good performance. The car worked very well, and the Mercedes engine's grunt was very helpful in achieving those excellent results. Still, as much as an injection of morale this performance is, the race will be absolutely different whatsoever and I won't take anything, not even finishing, as granted. I'll do my best out there to score a pleasant result, but we must only celebrate when the race is over. And, by the way, congratulation to Zapatero for his pole lap, and forming the first ever Spanish front row
Damon Cannon wrote:Oh dear, I appear to have returned to the wrong end of the grid, and be out-qualified by my team mate. This race will be one hell of a struggle, the Yamaha isn't all that powerful on the long straights, and I'm miles behind those fighting for points. I'm expecting to see one of the pistons go straight through the engine on the back straight.

I saw the McLarens and Hughes darting left, right and centre off the start and I went for the only gap I saw. Unfortunatly there was Zapatero's stricken Ferrari in that gap which meant our races were over within seconds of the start. To be honest we were lucky to keep the lead in the championship but we will do everything we can do (within the rules and spirit of fair play of course) to win this championship.

I'm happy to have a 4th place scored, but I know we're behind the others. However, I did manage to fend off a Williams, which is a good thing. Hopefully our pace will improve a bit to be constantly in the top 10.
Phoenix McAllister wrote:I am a bit upset for losing victory to my team mate, but at least I managed to finish the race in 2nd, which, considering how the season has been going so far, is quite something. Now our next task is to try to emulate those dominant performances more often.
Damon Cannon wrote: I didn't get the best of starts, but that worked to my advantage due to the traffic jam in front of me caused by the remains of Melrose and Zapatero's cars, which allowed me to take several places. Other than that, it was a quiet race for me, the Yamaha engine not having the legs of the Renault powered Williams in front of me, meaning I could not hold on to Mann. Another point score is welcome, especially with two title contenders out right at the start.

The rain near the end was unnerving to say the least as I've never been the best wet weather driver and Douglas put up an almightly fight near the end. I thought he was going to get me at the end since he got the better run out of the chicane but I'm guessing he must have missed a gear or something like that.
