Well ladies and gentleman, it's what none of you have been waiting for but here is the final... [Pop idol music plays] no not that... but it is...

Only a single driver, which is the champion Maser is in the same place in this table as he is in the official table. The main point here is that F1 rewards drivers who win (or at least get podiums) a lot better then the points for finishing in 14th position. Jung who finished 2nd in the official table had only one retirement in the entire season, but just staying on the track should not be rewarded with lots of points and he does worse here due to this.
Biggest winner is Krautmeir who gains a massive 7 places due to his wins and podiums, he managed to retire 6 times in the season and finished in lower places in other races but his spirit is rewarded. Collie who also had brilliance is also rewarded. Biggest loser is Clarke who drops 6 places, again this is due to a lack of points in the top 6 places and only 4 retirements.
Let us see how the drivers would have scored in other championships...

No changes from the 1991 system at all, Hurmerinta and Davies have the same points but Hurmerinta has more wins so stays where they are.
The alternative championship using the 2003 points scoring system (10,8,6,5,4,3,2,1).Code: Select all
1 (-) Maser 156 (5 Wins, 6 2nds, 6 3rds, 3 4ths, 6th, 2 7ths)

14 (+1) Prieto 24 (3rd, 3 5ths, 6th, 7th, 8th)
15 (-1) Lon 12 (4th, 6th, 2 7ths)
Jung with his 6 5ths goes up the table as they are now worth more, clarke also moves up for the same reason. Humerinta moves down to normal as the fewer finishes hurts him more.

15 (-1) Lon 40 (4th, 6th, 2 7ths, 2 9ths, 4 10ths)
No changes to the 2003 system although Schnyder was 3 wins and a 2nd place from the championship rather then the 4 straights wins in 2003, the older systems would have required less wins to take the title.
The last one is ...

Did I mention what a top bloke that Bernie Ecclestone is? Full of good ideas... So we have a new champion too, with 6 hard earned wins it's Barii Mori [cheers]. Good for Hurmerinta too as Jung and Clarke plumet down the table.
Well that's it for the moment. Will do more stats when the ROTY is announced...
