I've previously decided that every third season we will use a carset different to the latest GP set (currently GP 2010), so for season 4 we will be using GP 2010 or, if it comes out before the start of the season, GP 2011.

In that case I won't be competing in season 4, since I go on holidays for a month starting in about three weeks.

Wait WHAT? Why wasn't I informed of this before?

Traditionally newest F1 carset has been published around the season opener so I think we should go with that.

Its tempting. May be worth having a break, though if its GP2011 it may be a bit wild to begin with. At least 2010, we know what we are getting

I'ld say wait but I'll take a seat at Mercedes regardless of whether it's 2010 or 2011

For next season I've decided on one of four options;
1. Wait until the GP 2011 carset is released
2. Use the GP 2010 carset again
3. Use the "Classic GP 1986" carset (as that was the carset with the second most amount of votes)
4. Use the "Indy 500" carset as it is only one race spread out over six days.
This is a cool spot.

Alternative championship using the F1 Rejects favourite 1991 F1 Points scoring system (no chunk of points for piddling around in 13th place here...)

Code: Select all

1  (-)  Maser      116 (5 Wins, 6 2nds, 6 3rds, 2 4ths)            [Champion]
2  (+1) Schnyder    85 (5 Wins, 3 2nds, 3 3rds, 2 5ths, 6th)       [2nd-3rd]
3  (+4) Mori        69 (5 Wins, 3rd, 2 4ths, 3 5ths, 3 6th)        [2nd-5th]
4  (+4) Collie      55 (3 Wins, 2 2nds, 3rd, 2 4ths, 3 6ths)       [3rd-7th]
5  (+6) Krautmeir   53 (2 Win, 3 2nds, 2 3rds, 4th, 5th, 2 6ths)   [3rd-10th]
6  (-4) Jung        45 (1 Win, 2 2nds, 3rd, 4th, 6 5ths, 1 6th)    [4th-12th]
7  (-3) Clarke      38 (1 Win, 2nd, 2 3rds, 2 4th, 3 5ths, 2 6ths) [4th-13th]
8  (+1) Melrose     35 (1 Win, 2nd, 3 3rds, 3 5ths, 6th)           [5th-13th]
9  (-4) Davies      35 (1 Win, 2nd, 5 4ths)                        [5th-13th]
10 (+3) Steen       33 (4 2nds, 3rd, 2 5ths, 6th)                  [5th-13th]
11 (+1) Hurmerinta  30 (1 Win, 2nd, 4 4ths, 5th)                   [6th-13th]
12 (-6) De Bock     23 (3 3rds, 4th, 2 5ths, 4 6ths)               [7th-14th]
13 (-3) Capp        20 (2nd, 3rd, 3 4ths, 6th)                     [7th-15th]
14 (+1) Prieto       9 (3rd, 2 5ths, 6th)                          [12th-15th]
15 (-1) Lon          4 (4th, 6th)                                  [13th-15th]

Biggest winner this time is Krautmeir who climbs from 11th to 5th due to his 2 wins and 6 podium finishes. Mori and Collie also gain 4 places due to good finishing positions and not just getting the car to the end of the race. Bigger loser is De Bock who although has scored 3 podiums on the lowest step has not done much else. Other losers include Jung and Clarke whose results are not as good as their finishing results....

So we can see that Maser is the champion, and that Schnyder needs only 5 points to claim 2nd. Mori looks safe in 3rd but Collie and Krautmeir can take it with two unlikely wins... Lots of drivings fighting for mid table positions with only 8 points seperating 7th from 13th, however 3 drivers can finish in last place but it is a straight battle between Lon and Prieto although I can not see Lon scoring a podium in the last two races...

3. Arrows

MANUFACTURER CHALLENGE
1. Holden: 17 103 points
2. Ford: 16 143 points
*Note: Points for Prieto don't count for standings to account for extra Holden

ROTR:
Abu Dhabi 1: James Clark (For his awful qualifying performance and going off on the 2nd to last lap takes reject skill)
Abu Dhabi 2: Daniel Melrose (For blowing pole position in a big way and not looking like doing anything)
Bahrain 1: Craig Collie (For not wanting to really get out of last place)
Bahrain 2: Schnyder's Pitcrew (For costing him 14 seconds when Schnyder had the pace for a win)
Adelaide 1: James Clarke (For showing why you shouldn't go AWOL)
Adelaide 2: James Clarke (For being the only driver to not have a perfect setup, and finishing one lap down.)
Hamilton 1: Craig Collie (For a lacklustre performance in qualy and the race.)
Hamilton 2: Bari Mori (For looking fairly competitive before crashing having to come into the pits, spending most of the race in last place, overtaking a few cars then unlapping himself before crashing out.)
Ipswich 1: Daniel Melrose (For going from 2nd on the grid to a frankly rubbish 14th.)
Ipswich 2: Benedict Schnyder (For starting on wets on a dry track and doing noting for the rest of the afternoon)
Winton 1: Benedict Schnyder (For being just as rubbish as at QR, except without the excuse)
Winton 2: Benedict Schnyder (For putting in the third pathetic showing in a row)
Darwin 1: Brodie Steen (Comedy of errors means front row start translates to nothing)
Darwin 2: Daniel Melrose (Returns to crash happy land with 2 collisions in first 12 laps which leads to DNF)
Townsville 1: Rhys Davies (Hangs onto top 10 finish by sheer dumb luck after starting on front row)
Townsville 2: Daniel Melrose (Goes from Race 1 hero to Race 2 zero)
Phillip Island Qualifying Race: Daniel Melrose (Was destined to finish 12th anyway after bad strategy call without the mindless race ending accident)
Phillip Island Main Race: Craig Collie (Only retirement in the entire race)
Bathurst: Barry Mori (11 laps down in "The Great Race" doesn't look too good on the CV)
Surfers Paradise 1: James Clarke (Out of all the crashes in the race, his was the most embarrasing)
Surfers Paradise 2: Rhys Davies (Had a race to forget from 2nd on the grid to a early retirement)
Symonds Plains 1: Jeroen Krautmeir (Had crash-happy race which brings back memories of last season)
Symonds Plains 2: Jeroen Krautmeir (Has weekend to forget with more unforced errors)
Sandown 1: Scott Maser (Horrific strategic decision before mid-race retirement)
Sandown 2: Barry Mori (Jumps into lead off start then proceeds to bin it on lap 3)
Sydney 1: Rhys Davies (Went from 2nd to retirement within 10 seconds)
Sydney 2: (To be decided)

IIDOTR:
Abu Dhabi 1: Barry Mori (For a brilliant burn from the stern effort to finish 3rd, even though from pole he should have won.)
Abu Dhabi 2: Liam Capp (For a good burn from the stern effort to go from dead last to 7th.)
Bahrain 1: Brodie Steen (For going from 11th to 2nd.)
Bahrain 2: Benedict Schynder (For fighting his way through the field from 13th on the grid to 3rd.)
Adelaide 1: Tristan Jung (For going from a first lap collision to a top 5 finish.)
Adelaide 2: Eero Hurmerinta (For coming back from a shocking start to score 2nd on the podium.)
Hamilton 1: Scott Maser (For going from 14th on the grid to 3rd.)
Hamilton 2: Jeroen Krautmeir (For going from 10th to 1st in wet conditions.)
Ipswich 1: Jeroen Krautmeir (For going from dead last to 2nd, again in the rain.)
Ipswich 2: Barry Mori (For going from outside the top 10 to winning the race.)
Winton 1: Craig Collie (Was genuinly competitve, kept it on the road and scored a podium as a result)
Winton 2: Daniel Melrose (Makes good start and was in contention for victory before brake problems relegates him to 3rd)
Darwin 1: Eero Hurmerinta (Scores shock victory in the Top End)
Darwin 2: Thomas De Bock (For finishing in the top 5 for the first time all season)
Townsville 1: Scott Maser (Never say die drive from 13th on the grid to 7th including 2 last lap passes to keep in touch with Schnyder)
Townsville 2: Thomas De Bock (Scores unlikely podium)
Phillip Island Qualifying Race: Jeroen Krautmeir (Makes way from the back of the gird to 5th in 14 lap race)
Phillip Island Main Race: Barry Mori (Wins the 500 after being 14th at the end of lap 1)
Bathurst: Craig Collie (Was fast all weekend and didn't put it into the nearest wall for once which gave him victory)
Surfers Paradise 1: Daniel Melrose (Finally takes a win in the middle of a crashfest)
Surfers Paradise 2: Jeroen Krautmeir (Went from outside the top 10 to 2nd on a street circuit no less)
Symonds Plains 1: Barry Mori (Does usual party trick and wins race from average qualifying positions)
Symonds Plains 2: Tristan Jung (Starts 11th, has horrible start and still manages a 5th place finish)
Sandown 1: James Clarke/Ereo Hurmerinta (Both have horrible qualifying/race starts and both make their way through the field to top 6 finishes)
Sandown 2: Jeroen Krautmeir (Proves he is the Wet Weather Warrior with a win from 10th on the grid)
Sydney 1: Thomas De Bock (Savlages 6th place despite a early stop)
Sydney 2: (To be decided)

Well ladies and gentleman, it's what none of you have been waiting for but here is the final... [Pop idol music plays] no not that... but it is...

The alternative championship using the F1 Rejects favourite 1991 points scoring system (10,6,4,3,2,1).

Code: Select all

1  (-)  Maser      120 (5 Wins, 6 2nds, 6 3rds, 3 4ths, 6th)
2  (+1) Schnyder    94 (5 Wins, 4 2nds, 3 3rds, 4th, 2 5ths, 6th)
3  (+3) Mori        79 (6 Wins, 3rd, 2 4ths, 3 5ths, 3 6th)
4  (+5) Collie      55 (3 Wins, 2 2nds, 3rd, 2 4ths, 3 6ths)
5  (+7) Krautmeir   53 (2 Win, 3 2nds, 2 3rds, 4th, 5th, 2 6ths)
6  (-4) Jung        49 (1 Win, 2 2nds, 2 3rds, 2 4ths, 6 5ths, 6th)
7  (-2) Melrose     43 (1 Win, 2nd, 3 3rds, 3 5ths, 6th)
8  (+2) Hurmerinta  40 (2 Win, 2nd, 4 4ths, 5th)
9  (-1) Davies      39 (1 Win, 2nd, 3rd, 5 4ths, 4 6ths)
10 (-6) Clarke      38 (1 Win, 2nd, 2 3rds, 2 4th, 3 5ths, 2 6ths)
11 (+2) Steen       33 (4 2nds, 3rd, 2 5ths, 6th)
12 (-5) De Bock     24 (3 3rds, 4th, 2 5ths, 5 6ths)
13 (-2) Capp        20 (2nd, 3rd, 3 4ths, 6th)
14 (+1) Prieto      11 (3rd, 3 5ths, 6th)
15 (-1) Lon          4 (4th, 6th)

Only a single driver, which is the champion Maser is in the same place in this table as he is in the official table. The main point here is that F1 rewards drivers who win (or at least get podiums) a lot better then the points for finishing in 14th position. Jung who finished 2nd in the official table had only one retirement in the entire season, but just staying on the track should not be rewarded with lots of points and he does worse here due to this.

Biggest winner is Krautmeir who gains a massive 7 places due to his wins and podiums, he managed to retire 6 times in the season and finished in lower places in other races but his spirit is rewarded. Collie who also had brilliance is also rewarded. Biggest loser is Clarke who drops 6 places, again this is due to a lack of points in the top 6 places and only 4 retirements.

Let us see how the drivers would have scored in other championships...

Alternative Championship using the 1950 points system. (8, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1 point for fastest lap)

Code: Select all

1  (-)  Maser      116 (5 Wins, 6 2nds, 6 3rds, 3 4ths, 7 Fastest Laps)
2  (+1) Schnyder    88 (5 Wins, 4 2nds, 3 3rds, 4th, 2 5ths, 5 Fastest Laps)
3  (+3) Mori        66 (6 Wins, 3rd, 2 4ths, 3 5ths, 2 Fastest Laps)
4  (+8) Krautmeir   51 (2 Win, 3 2nds, 2 3rds, 4th, 5th, 4 Fastest Laps)
5  (+4) Collie      49 (3 Wins, 2 2nds, 3rd, 2 4ths, 3 Fastest Laps)
6  (-4) Jung        48 (1 Win, 2 2nds, 2 3rds, 2 4ths, 6 5ths, 2 Fastest Laps)
7  (-2) Melrose     40 (1 Win, 2nd, 3 3rds, 3 5ths)
8  (+2) Hurmerinta  36 (2 Win, 2nd, 4 4ths, 5th)
9  (-5) Clarke      35 (1 Win, 2nd, 2 3rds, 2 4th, 3 5ths, 1 Fastest Lap)
10 (-2) Davies      35 (1 Win, 2nd, 3rd, 5 4ths, 2 Fastest Laps)
11 (+2) Steen       32 (4 2nds, 3rd, 2 5ths)
12 (-1) Capp        20 (2nd, 3rd, 3 4ths, 1 Fastest Lap)
13 (-6) De Bock     19 (3 3rds, 4th, 2 5ths)
14 (+1) Prieto      10 (3rd, 3 5ths)
15 (-1) Lon          3 (4th)

We can see that Krautmeir is the best improved driver with his podiums and fastest laps taking him from 12th to an incredible 4th! Well done old chap!

Alternative Championship using the 1981 points system. (9, 6, 4, 3, 2, 1)

Code: Select all

1  (-)  Maser      115 (5 Wins, 6 2nds, 6 3rds, 3 4ths, 6th)
2  (+1) Schnyder    89 (5 Wins, 4 2nds, 3 3rds, 4th, 2 5ths, 6th)
3  (+3) Mori        73 (6 Wins, 3rd, 2 4ths, 3 5ths, 3 6th)
4  (+5) Collie      52 (3 Wins, 2 2nds, 3rd, 2 4ths, 3 6ths)
5  (+7) Krautmeir   51 (2 Win, 3 2nds, 2 3rds, 4th, 5th, 2 6ths)
6  (-4) Jung        48 (1 Win, 2 2nds, 2 3rds, 2 4ths, 6 5ths, 6th)
7  (-2) Melrose     42 (1 Win, 2nd, 3 3rds, 3 5ths, 6th)
8  (+2) Hurmerinta  38 (2 Win, 2nd, 4 4ths, 5th)
9  (-1) Davies      38 (1 Win, 2nd, 3rd, 5 4ths, 4 6ths)
10 (-6) Clarke      37 (1 Win, 2nd, 2 3rds, 2 4th, 3 5ths, 2 6ths)
11 (+2) Steen       33 (4 2nds, 3rd, 2 5ths, 6th)
12 (-5) De Bock     24 (3 3rds, 4th, 2 5ths, 5 6ths)
13 (-2) Capp        20 (2nd, 3rd, 3 4ths, 6th)
14 (+1) Prieto      11 (3rd, 3 5ths, 6th)
15 (-1) Lon          4 (4th, 6th)

No changes from the 1991 system at all, Hurmerinta and Davies have the same points but Hurmerinta has more wins so stays where they are.

The alternative championship using the 2003 points scoring system (10,8,6,5,4,3,2,1).

Code: Select all

1  (-)  Maser      156 (5 Wins, 6 2nds, 6 3rds, 3 4ths, 6th, 2 7ths)
2  (+1) Schnyder   117 (5 Wins, 4 2nds, 3 3rds, 4th, 2 5ths, 6th, 8th)
3  (+3) Mori        99 (6 Wins, 3rd, 2 4ths, 3 5ths, 3 6th, 2 8ths)
4  (-2) Jung        84 (1 Win, 2 2nds, 2 3rds, 2 4ths, 6 5ths, 6th, 4 7ths, 8th)
5  (+4) Collie      77 (3 Wins, 2 2nds, 3rd, 2 4ths, 3 6ths, 2 7ths, 2 8ths)
6  (+6) Krautmeir   76 (2 Win, 3 2nds, 2 3rds, 4th, 5th, 2 6ths, 7th, 3 8ths)
7  (-2) Melrose     69 (1 Win, 2nd, 3 3rds, 3 5ths, 6th, 3 7ths)
8  (-4) Clarke      66 (1 Win, 2nd, 2 3rds, 2 4th, 3 5ths, 2 6ths, 3 7ths, 2 8ths)
9  (-1) Davies      65 (1 Win, 2nd, 3rd, 5 4ths, 4 6ths, 7th, 2 8ths)
10 (-)  Hurmerinta  61 (2 Win, 2nd, 4 4ths, 5th, 3 7ths, 3 8ths)
11 (+2) Steen       56 (4 2nds, 3rd, 2 5ths, 6th, 3 7ths, 8th)
12 (-5) De Bock     49 (3 3rds, 4th, 2 5ths, 5 6ths, 3 8ths)
13 (-2) Capp        42 (2nd, 3rd, 3 4ths, 6th, 2 7ths, 6 8ths)
14 (+1) Prieto      24 (3rd, 3 5ths, 6th, 7th, 8th)
15 (-1) Lon         12 (4th, 6th, 2 7ths)

Jung with his 6 5ths goes up the table as they are now worth more, clarke also moves up for the same reason. Humerinta moves down to normal as the fewer finishes hurts him more.

The alternative championship using the 2010 points scoring system (25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1).

Code: Select all

1  (-)  Maser      380 (5 Wins, 6 2nds, 6 3rds, 3 4ths, 6th, 2 7ths, 10th)
2  (+1) Schnyder   293 (5 Wins, 4 2nds, 3 3rds, 4th, 2 5ths, 6th, 8th, 3 9ths, 10th)

5  (+4) Collie     198 (3 Wins, 2 2nds, 3rd, 2 4ths, 3 6ths, 2 7ths, 2 8ths, 2 9ths)
6  (+6) Krautmeir  192 (2 Win, 3 2nds, 2 3rds, 4th, 5th, 2 6ths, 7th, 3 8ths, 9th)
7  (-2) Melrose    179 (1 Win, 2nd, 3 3rds, 3 5ths, 6th, 3 7ths, 9th, 5 10ths)
8  (-4) Clarke     173 (1 Win, 2nd, 2 3rds, 2 4th, 3 5ths, 2 6ths, 3 7ths, 2 8ths, 2 9ths)
9  (-1) Davies     169 (1 Win, 2nd, 3rd, 5 4ths, 4 6ths, 7th, 2 8ths, 9th, 3 10ths)
10 (-)  Hurmerinta 164 (2 Win, 2nd, 4 4ths, 5th, 3 7ths, 3 8ths, 3 9ths, 2 10ths)
11 (+2) Steen      142 (4 2nds, 3rd, 2 5ths, 6th, 3 7ths, 8th, 2 9ths, 10th)
12 (-5) De Bock    138 (3 3rds, 4th, 2 5ths, 5 6ths, 3 8ths, 3 9ths, 3 10ths)
13 (-2) Capp       119 (2nd, 3rd, 3 4ths, 6th, 2 7ths, 6 8ths, 2 9ths, 2 10ths)
14 (+1) Prieto      71 (3rd, 3 5ths, 6th, 7th, 8th, 2 9ths, 4 10ths)
15 (-1) Lon         40 (4th, 6th, 2 7ths, 2 9ths, 4 10ths)

No changes to the 2003 system although Schnyder was 3 wins and a 2nd place from the championship rather then the 4 straights wins in 2003, the older systems would have required less wins to take the title.

The last one is ...

Alternative Championship using the controversial Bernie Ecclestone gold medal system (wins, then 2nds, then 3rds, etc)

Code: Select all

1  (+5) Mori        6 Wins
2  (-1) Maser       5 Wins, 6 2nds
3  (-)  Schnyder    5 Wins, 4 2nds
4  (+5) Collie      3 Wins
5  (+7) Krautmeir   2 Win, 3 2nds
6  (+4) Hurmerinta  2 Win, 2nd
7  (-5) Jung        1 Win, 2 2nds
8  (-3) Melrose     1 Win, 2nd, 3 3rds
9  (-5) Clarke      1 Win, 2nd, 2 3rds
10 (-2) Davies      1 Win, 2nd, 3rd
11 (+2) Steen       4 2nds
12 (-1) Capp        2nd
13 (-6) De Bock     3 3rds
14 (+1) Prieto      3rd
15 (-1) Lon         4th

Did I mention what a top bloke that Bernie Ecclestone is? Full of good ideas... So we have a new champion too, with 6 hard earned wins it's Barii Mori [cheers]. Good for Hurmerinta too as Jung and Clarke plumet down the table.

Well that's it for the moment. Will do more stats when the ROTY is announced...

Well, I will pass on the next season as well. My interest in BatRacer is dropping again, I'll have to take a sabbatical month or two.

The 2nd Ferrari would be lovely, if Melrose is okay with that? :)

Haha crikey I wouldn't worry about that I have no-where near enough time for his career for the near future, though I have a three week easter break coming up so maybe I'll finally be able to finish that crap 2000 season I was having!!

It's for the same reason that I'll be sitting out this upcoming season of BATracer, for the same reason as Klon, I haven't got much time and my interest in it is falling so I'll probably come back to it sometime in the future.

Good luck to all those participating in this '86 season though :)
