Nosecone destruction championship 2011

Post by Bleu »

After one-year-break, it's back!

Rules
- Points only awarded in races
- 1 point for nosecone change during the race
- 2 points if you need second change, 3 points if third etc.
- Double points if you destroy nosecone by hitting your team-mate
- Triple points if you destroy nosecone and other driver retires as a result

First race now behind us, and we saw two drivers getting points. Barrichello for his hit against Rosberg and Alguersuari for hitting Schumacher. As Mercedes drivers retired following those incidents (Schumacher ran many laps though) both get three points.

Standings:
1st Alguersuari 3
1st Barrichello 3
3rd everyone else 0

A question: When you destroy your nosecone while hitting your team-mate and he retires you get x6 points?

Looking forward to seeing this develop ^_^
getting the front wing stuck underneath the car for a lap should be worth an extra point too

Wow, the Nosecone championship is back! I think on the old thread, there were also points awarded for destroying a competitor's nosecone. Why not here?

With the high reliability at the Chinese GP, there haven't been any developments on the points tally in the Nosecone Championship, or have there?

Well Sutil lost a front wing when Perez barged him out of the way and Heidfeld spent most of Friday throwing his Renault into the nearest wall.

if Practice is to be included (which I think it should be), Maldonado also gets a point for his Friday afternoon crash in the pit entry.

Race is included only due to I can't see every session. And besides, it's also that you need to continue racing after the incident.

Sutil gets a point for Chinese GP.

Sorry for this late post, but Di Resta demolished his front wing against Heidfeld on the last lap in China, which puts him on 1 point.
Martin Brundle for FIA president. We need someone with common sense up in the ivory tower of power.

I hope Jeoren Slaghekke gets into F1 just so I can say that I've talked to an F1 driver.

I add that only front wing change gives you points. However, honorary mention given to other drivers who have visible damage but don't change it. di Resta and Kobayashi get HMs for China.

Perez and Schumacher got one in Turkey
none in Spain
Schumacher and di Resta in Monaco

1st Alguersuari 3
1st Barrichello 3
3rd Sutil 2
3rd Schumacher 2
5th di Resta 1+
6th Alonso 1
6th Perez 1
8th Kobayashi 0+
Others 0

Canada:

Sutil
di Resta
Button (triple points for taking out another driver)
Massa
Maldonado
Rosberg (HM)

I also decide that tie-breaker is the amount of nosecones destroyed, in case some drivers have bonuses and some not.

1st Sutil 3
2nd Alguersuari 3
2nd Barrichello 3
2nd Button 3
5th di Resta 2+
6th Alonso 1
6th Perez 1
6th Massa 1
6th Maldonado 1
10th Kobayashi 0+
10th Rosberg 0+

Bleu wrote:Button (triple points for taking out another driver)

Why does Button get points when Hamilton doesn't? The stewards have ruled that it was a racing incident, and no action would be taken; they released a statement saying that Button did not deviate from the racing line he had taken on previous laps, and nor was his racing line on that particular lap different to the one the previous driver - Schumacher - had taken. With Button being exonerated for the incident, Hamilton should be the one to get the points since it was his front wing that got destroyed, even if it was a racing incident.

Button's points are for incident with Alonso.

Hamilton and Heidfeld retired immediately so no points.

I counted certainly six:

Barrichello, Button, di Resta, Glock, Kovalainen and Senna.

Senna caused the retirement of Alguersuari, while Kovalainen hit his team-mate, therefore they are eligible for bonus points.

1st di Resta 6+ points 4 front wings
2nd Schumacher 4 4
3rd Barrichello 4 3
3rd Button 4 3
5th Sutil 3 3
6th Alguersuari 3 1
6th Senna 3 1
8th Kovalainen 2 1
9th Alonso 1 1
9th Perez 1 1
9th Massa 1 1
9th Maldonado 1 1
9th Glock 1 1
14th Kobayashi 0+
14th Rosberg 0+
14th Hamilton 0+

You missed Perez, who hit Buemi at Les Combes, breaking his own front wing and Buemi's rear wing - leading to his retirement.

I think Kobayashi should get an honourary mention for his partly broken front wing endplate, as well, and according to their driver/team comments on F1.com, Di Resta and Maldonado also had damaged front wings but continued on.

Was Di Resta the Force India who damaged his front wing on the first lap after being shoved into the back of Button by Glock?

Technically, Senna didn't retire Algae, or at least not directly from their collision. It was indirect, he hit Alguersuari, who then hit Alonso, and that was the end of that.
