We've recently seen the arrival of the RPG/PBM game set up with quite a few of the same participants in the F1RWRS taking part. I myself recieved a message from the guy setting it up, but the reason I've declined it is because I want to enjoy this 'alternate universe' with minimal input barring writing a few words and designing a livery every so often. That's what made the F1RWRS good, Rhys could do the races, post the results, let us have our say and get a bit of banter flowing around, before moving onto the next one. It was quick, easy, and wasn't overly complicated.
What we have now is a great idea, it may really spice the whole thing up and take it to the next level, but it requires a much greater level of involvement from all the participants, and whilst that may go on for a little while, it's unsustainable to expect us all to continue with it for an extended period of time. That's why I don't particularly like it because I don't have a great deal of spare time on my hands, and that's why I enjoyed the original format so much more. Occasionally when I did have some time, I could draw up a nice livery, maybe write a bit more after races, etc but I certainly don't have the time to continually keep coming back, working out calculations on improvements, alongside what I did before with this new format we have.
Make no mistake, I'm not angry, this isn't a rant, it's just me explaining my standpoint with this new format. It may go down a storm with everyone else, and if so then fantastic, and credit to Aerond for coming up with a good system, but I fear that even if sign up is initially good, that the season may not even be seen out with full participation which would be a big shame. We've built up, largely with Rhys' efforts, a fantastic little storyline and some great teams with good backgrounds and rivalries and to almost start over again with this blank canvas is a bit of a shame.
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

The F1RWRS team owner Sammy Jones announced last night that his team, Marlboro Jones Racing, would be folding immediately in light of the recent changes to the format of the championship.
"It's a crying shame it really is" said a disappointed Jones exclusively to Autosport, "The guys have worked so hard over the past two years both back at the factory in Banbury, and the whole race team which has travelled around the world and which enjoyed so much success last year. We were hoping to go one better in 2013 with the Marlboro backing and confirmation from Renault that a new turbo engine would be developed exclusively for us.
"Instead we're faced with a complete change, the MJR-201 which we felt would have so much promise is going to have to be scrapped, and our exclusive deal with Renault is in tatters. Clearly the F1RWRS Council feel that these changes are for the best, and that's fair enough, they are the ones in charge at the end of the day, but there's no doubt about it, as a leading driver and team owner of the series, I would have preferred at least some consultation before these changes were forced through.
"It just feels like a knee-jerk reaction and it's one which I'm not comfortable with. Consequently I've had no choice but to shut the team down. The sale of the team's assets will go to compensating our sponsors, and there's absolutely no question that the team as a whole entity is not for sale. It will be split up and sold off piecemeal. I hope Chris can find a competitive seat, and I wish all the other competitors good luck for the 2013 season."
Alongside Daniel Melrose's recent retirement annoucement, reigning champion Pippa Mann's possible retirement and now with Sammy Jones having left the series and Chris Dagnall without a drive, many of the series' top line drivers are in a precarious position, or won't even be competing at all in 2013, prompting some wild speculation that the new regulations may even bring the F1RWRS to it's knees after three highly successful seasons.
