(which not only caused the SC that ruined the final laps, but the accident could have been very dangerous indeed to Petrov considering all the suspension parts flying around close to Petrov's cockpit & photograph's on the edge of the track).
IMO that appear to be a more 'avoidable accident' in comparison to others which did generate a penalty. Since all the other drivers in that que of cars gave space to the car in front when Sutil was clearly struggling with his flat tire, expect for Alguersuari...who appear to just plow into the back of Hamilton?

Because when a driver in front suddently brakes, and you are going full throttle it is hard to not crash. And well, then Petrov should get a grid-penalty next race?
The only ways to avoid that was to crash himself in the barriers, or brake before Hamilton, something that I guess would've caused Petrov to fly (again) and that could've been worse.
In another era, Lewis would've eked out the last point through his admittedly aggressive racing. So whence all the the hate?

There was a piece (TopGear, I think), where Brundle says that Senna used to put other drivers in a position to have an accident or not. Their choice. Very much like Lewis did this weekend with Massa and Maldonado.

I remember the driver interviews on the BBC website a couple of years ago, one of the questions was Senna or Prost. Webber was the only person who said Prost IIRC. Quite frankly, I agree with him.
Hamilton has been very reminiscent of Senna this weekend, indeed. Even the part of that video where Senna says: "Sometimes I'll get it wrong, sure, it is impossible to get it right all the time" is similar to something Hamilton said (in the lines of "if I made a mistake, I would apologize").
EDIT: "If it ever comes to a stage where I had to pull back and just cruise around, that would not excite me and I probably wouldn't stay around for that." This and "if you no longer go for a gap that exists, you're no longer a racing driver" feels pretty much the same to me.

I usually start with a thought on something, then almost always I change my mind in one way or another.
It is disgraceful that incidents like Hamilton's or di Resta's are punished when there was clearly no bad intention. Hamilton's declarations after the race were very wrong, but incidentally he was right in saying stewarding was a joke. They introduce the DRS and make the tyres to enhance passing moves, but when a passing move is accidentally a botched one, the driver who tries to overtake is mercilessly punished. What's the point, then, of all the efforts put together to improve spectacle? As much as I thought Hamilton's race was very messy to put it mildly, I really enjoyed seeing him trying and trying. Something needs to be done with the way the stewards do their job, especially since things like abusing of the asphalt run-offs are not punished. Not every passing move can end up well but that doesn't make an attempt dangerous or done with evil intentions.

We do have that. the World Rally Championship. Capped at 2.0 liters and 300hp. All the tire manufacturers are using very similar compounds and treads. "Diverse", but close. each car is starting to sound the same though...

And the field really isn't that diverse - there are only two manufacturers this year in the WRC (Ford and Citroen) who are competing across the whole season (with occasional entries by Mini, but only for testing ahead of a possible 2012 campaign). Hell, you don't even have the occasional Mitsubishi, Subaru or Skoda privateers left this year in the WRC class (not that they weren't already on the way out).

I actually like the 2012 IndyCar designs to be honest. The only thing I don't like are the rear wheel fender thingies but the concept of Mark Webber crashes at 230 MPH is not too desirable, eh?

Usually independent movies like that are a limited release, so chances are you'll probably not see it until it comes out on dvd. Documentaries aren't really a big attraction to average film goers unless they are well advertised. Most independent movies become popular through cult status, rather than right on release day.
TT3D was on every night from the day of official release for at least a fortnight. That was an independant documentary. I went twice and there was a good audience both times. It even made the UK Box Office Top 10 (in 7th) in its first week. Senna has been receiving more publicity (at least in motorsport press) for a longer time and is more of a celebrity in a much more popular and well-known series. So why can't I go and see it nearly as easily as the TT3D documentary? Gah! Rant over.

Sebastian Vettel would be awesome at oval racing, particularly NASCAR, judging by Peter Windsor's analysis of Vettel's driving technique. For the uninformed, Windsor stated that Vettel's technique is to anticipate the grip changes and to react to them before they happened. This is crucial on oval racing, where, once the car steps out far enough, there's really no saving it from spinning unless you get lucky.
That being said, one of Vettel's weaknesses in F1 is that he isn't the best at passing other cars on the track. If there's any place where Seb could get schooled and learn a few pointers on how to pass cars, ovals are the place to do it. F1 passing master Nigel Mansell asserted his dominance on short ovals in CART, where slicing between slower cars is a required skill. Granted, Mansell on road courses wasn't anything too special in CART except for qualifying and scamming officials...
JPM and Jacques Villeneuve both came from CART, both learned the tricks of the trade when it came to oval racing, and both were good at passing in F1...
...on this vein, if Vettel wants to hone his abilities at passing, Red Bull Racing should send him over to the Team Red Bull cars in NASCAR, because TRB can do a lot better than having the Ultimate Underachiever Kasey Kahne and the Always Average Brian Vickers...

I found Brundle's commentary of Vettel's slide disappointing. I've always liked his commentary, but I didn't like him in the lead role... Do you imagine how Murray Walker would have done it? It lacked the enthusiasm. James Allen would have been very enthusiastic as well, although he would have overdone it
It really puts into perspective how difficult was to do what Murray used to do.
