And in GP3, Alex Lynn won on his Red Bull debut - he's definitely the most impressive British talent in the F1 pipeline at the moment, keep an eye on him.

Wasn't he the guy who dominated Formula Renault UK in 2011?

Also Richie Stanaway getting a podium on his return to GP3 is impressive too. I'll be watching him too

Well what? Rowland's a step ahead of Lynn in the feeder series hierarchy at the moment, but does that automatically make him more naturally talented? No, it doesn't.

What? You looked at all the stats and the first thing that came to your mind was that Rowland is a year ahead of Lynn? How about the results themselves?

So basically, by your fruity logic, we can't definitely say that Hamilton is a better driver than Chilton?

You can compare GP2 results, because that's the same playing field. Comparing Lynn's F3 and GP3 path to Rowland's Formula Renault pathway is what I was suggesting is like comparing apples to oranges.

You're more than welcome to, but you're effectively going to be extrapolating from incomplete data. On that basis, Carl Breeze should be as good as Kimi Raikkonen (said no-one ever except Dark77.)

After it's apparent you're trying to throw your ego around I'd try and send it back to you, but the Royal Mail said it was too large for international postage.

Sheesh, people here really do hate me. I remember saying something about Danny R in the Conspiracy thread and the forum exploded. Not to mention that I was being only investigative and not necessarily pointing fingers.

And Mr Salamander was the first to put forward a throwaway comment without backing it up with facts. I tried to do the opposite and I'm being crucified for that. Really, man.

You weren't being "investigative", you were completely undermining the integrity of the entire marshaling staff.

He was providing an opinion; you shot him down and your application of spurious evidence was you trying to mask your opinion as fact. There's a difference.

We don't hate you whatsoever, but some of your comments are quite provocative and sometimes either lack rational thought (your little accusation against the Australian marshals is an example of that), or you provide your opinions with such self-importance that you fully believe that they're facts. It's totally okay to provide your opinions, but you need to be accommodating of the opinions of others. That's it.

SPOILER ALERT, DON'T READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE RACE!

RotR goes to Rene Binder for causing a massive pile-up on the Fairmont Hotel hairpin, as well as punting off three cars in one race, including his team-mate and himself.
Top Lel of the Race goes to ~5 drivers that stalled their cars in the tunnel, bringing soapbox racing to Monaco for the first time in history :D
Shout out to Coletti for denying his countrymen a moment of glory on home soil and to Rossi for shoving Abt into the Fairmont Hotel hairpin - on a side note a very popular spot to mess with other drivers.

I have not seen a GP2 race in a while. Been somewhat far from most motorsport events lately except F1. One thing that strikes me when reading the results is that GP2 seems to be the hardest series to get into. I mean, highly rated blokes like Marciello are absolutely nowhere. Vandoorne, who was the most hot prospect of the last 2 years in Europe is been missing since the first race while pay-drivers and well known trouble makers like Cecotto are winning races. Can someone shed a light into these readings?

GP2 is a series where experience counts a lot because of the rather limited amount of practice (and setup time) they get - and the cars are slightly different to drive to other formulae, or so I have understood.

Thus, averagely good drivers (Leimer, Valsecchi, Cecotto, Palmer, Leal...) who can cough up enough money to race 3 or 4 seasons on the level are, eventually, going to find themselves near the top of the point standings.

I see. From what I always knew to be true, GP2 was made to be similar to F1 or at least closer than any other Formula. Probably even being closer to F1 than to FR3.5 or GP3 for instance. Still, I fail to see struggles from other junior series when they go straight into F1 like those we are seeing in recent GP2 years. Besides what giraurd said (practice and set-up time) are there anything in the cars which set back rookie drivers?

Tyres could be a factor, the Pirellis in GP2 are very much different from the other series.

Since nobody has brought up the GP2 race in Monte Carlo, I might as well do it. I thought it was fun to watch! It was the same bonkers, pinball-style racing that I expect from a junior series in Monaco, and it wasn't even Cecotto or Canamasas' fault to boot! The Trummer/Coletti/Izawa pileup at the hairpin was just a bizarre series of events, and it was so bizarre I got a new signature out of it! From there, the last nine laps were a joy to watch, especially as Binder binned it along with Markelov at Rascasse as he was charging up the field! Nasr should thank his lucky stars he finished on the podium given the state of his tires, although he partly has Binder to thank for that. Did anybody else at least see it?

I did not see the race, but the top 5 in the sprint race is quite something:

1 - Richelmi
2 - Canamasas
3 - Haryanto
4 - Cecotto, Jr
5 - Arthur Pic

Err he got a fantastic start which saw him go from 4th to 2nd and he stayed on Richelmi's gearbox all race and pulled away from Haryanto with ease. The only thing he did wrong was straightline the chicane after a lock up at one point.

So yeah that's how

I think we all look very silly about writing off the Cecotto/Canamasas partnership now. Instead of costing Trident thousands of pounds they've delivered a win and a 2nd between them and they haven't caused a single crash yet

I saw it. It was the best GP2 race I've ever seen, or at least the most memorable. Excitement all the way through, but that moment...
*The title-deciding collision at the 1994 Australian GP
*The pileup at the 1998 Belgian GP
*The 2008 F1 title coming down to the last corner
*Vettel's slide in the 2011 Canadian GP
*The finish to the 2013 Freedom 100
*And now the... you know... thing at the Grand Hotel hairpin in that race
That's the kind of list it's on for me.

One a scale of 1 to 10, how dumb is that?
Colin Kolles on F111, 2011 HRT challenger: The car doesn't look too bad; it looks like a modern F1 car.
