The newly choosen Ferrari seatholder, Andreas Stefano, has choosen Tom Douglas and Kazuhiko Takagi for 1996. Is this right, tristan?

(And pardon my bias, if any!

Benetton needs a second driver. Francois Albertini needs to confirm Forti's lineup for '96. Chris Forbes still needs to announce a driver to replace da Silva in the first two rounds. I think Jordan is confirmed so Forti, Benetton and Sauber are the last holdouts.

Sauber can run Ligier-driver Valsattis (if his owner agrees) in these first two races, as he's not scheduled to race for Ligier in these.
Excellent driver! And he can get some experience with a midfield team before he's going for championship glory in the Ligier. Also the Sauber is blue, which is very important!

Tom Douglas is reportedly furious that Spokes didn't get the Ferrari drive over Takagi. Douglas would also like to point out that since his contract was signed by the old seat holder, it's watertight for its duration.

Masta Valsattis:
I didn't realise I would be competing for Sauber at the first two races, but I'm delighted to gain more track time with a professional and hard-working outfit like Sauber. I hope to give a good showing in the two races and help them in their bid for a top 6 in the Constructors.
Minardi Press Release:
We would like to take this time to express our disappointment at Andrew Spokes not securing the Ferrari drive for 1996. We would also like to take this time to confirm Spokes WILL NOT be staying at Minardi for 1997, as this should push a top team into taking him on. We are confident we can score points and challenge both Arrows and Tyrrell this year.

Erm, no he won't.
Spokes was re-signed many, many moons ago and part of the Valsattis-Ligier deal was Van Dycke gets the second seat. At least that's my understanding.

Van Dycke has been chosen for his excellent results in the past! Including points finishes for Tyrell and Larousse. And oh, humiliating Miko Fäkkinen in an identical car...
No i didn't realise the Minardi-owner was the same one as Valsattis, i just wanted Van Dycke to race for Minardi.
Fäkkinen can be Ligier test-driver of course. Being part of the championship winning team can only improve his chances

I'm trying all I can to get Andrew Spokes in a better car, and planning to offer his services to any team during the year if they decided to drop their own driver. So because of this, I can put Miko as 'first reserve' for Minardi and offer him 6 races (that he chooses) during the year to race with Minardi. If you accept?

I accept. If possible, these are the races I want him in:
-Monaco GP
-French GP
-British GP
-Belgian GP
-Italian GP
-Japanese GP

Ok not a problem.
Andrew Spokes will drive all races apart from Monaco, Belgium and Italy
Gio van Dycke will drive all races apart from France, Britain and Japan
Miko Fäkkinen will drive in place of Spokes and van Dycke in those six. (So Spokes and van Dycke get their home race each)

We currently understand that the Benetton line-up for 1996 is still undecided. Therefore, we at Minardi are actively looking to place Andrew Spokes in their car for the future. If this becomes possible, Miko Fäkkinen will replace Spokes as Minardi lead driver for 1996.

The reason I put Takagi over Spokes is because of talent. Look at the 1995 standings, muppet!

MEANWHILE! Robert Anderson is suing DAMS for breach of contract and is considering Forti instead.

Talent? TALENT? All Takagi's done in the last two years is be absolutely trashed by Williams, his teammate and O'Connell in the vastly inferior Ferrari. Spokes on the other hand hauled that Minardi onto a podium. I don't know what you call talent but it must be a definition that nobody else in the entire known universe uses

Is Tom planning to run a campaign to impeach Stefano and Takagi from Ferrari?

And by the way Takagi has more podiums and a victory.

Of course he would, he was in a championship winning car both years with works engine deals. And yet, in 1994, he got thrashed by BOTH Jordans who were running engines made by some bloke with a shed in the Midlands

Remember, Kazuhiko's reliability record is somewhat poor in his debut year...

And you must also remember two things - this year (1995) Takagi finished 4th in standings (losing countback to O'Connell) while Tom is only 7th because he's frequently stuck in 4th or 6th in races. And Spokes podium WAS IN 1994 - that was because of flukey attrition, not to mention Spokes did not finish in the points this year (or after his podium), and that Minardi's 1995 points was scored by Fakkinen.

O'Connell's reliability record in 1994 wasn't any better yet he scored more points in an inferior car.

The fact he got beaten by O'Connell whilst in a superior car with a better finishing record as well to start with is bad enough. 4th-6th is where you expect the Ferrari to be and Tom's performance has nothing to do with this. Spokes finished 3rd in front of a Footwork and both Saubers which, on any other day, would have easily had the edge. Fakkinen scored one point in 1995 and that was in similar circumstances of attrition. And for most of the year, Spokes took Fakkinen to the cleaners anyway

Wizzie, it's your fault for not nomintaing Tom Douglas as Ferrari's seatholder.

And if Spokes not going for Benetton, we can put him in selected races (consenquently Takagi will only able to participate in other races).

That makes Spokes our reserve.
Regarding Robert, maybe. And meanwhile, who will be Forti's seatholder?

I would have gone for the Ferrari seatholder in a heartbeat if A. I knew if I could control two teams and B. Mr McClean wouldn't have taken so long to decide whether he was gonna take over the team or not. Besides, if Don Rennis had his way, he would have put Spokes alongside James Davies at McLaren for 1995 but decided that honouring McAllister's contract was the more sensible option and ended up having to choose between the two Brits.

To get this straight, Spokes is on Benetton now? And Pointrox owns Forti. If he doesn't get his driver lineup in before Monday, then Luca de Montmelo will temporarily take the seat holder position.

I can't believe you would want to fire Rory after he beat Davies handily last year.
And on the point of Takagi's skill, he finished in the exact same position as Herbert did in '95, just with O'Connell beating him instead of Mann.
