Monday test idea sounds reasonable....maybe the concept could be further improved into a 'testing championship' - teams would get extra financial award after the season according to the test drivers' fastest laptimes during those Monday sessions. In hope of the extra sums of money, the teams would maybe actually try to make good laptimes there instead of trundling countless of far-from-limit laps around the circuit with heavy fuel, and even try to hire some promising drivers for the job instead of cash cows from Venezuela..?

Bleu wrote:I would actually prefer few Monday test sessions during the season. Should be easily doable when there's at least two weeks between races and the race is at permanent circuit. Probably 5 that kind of sessions. One during early flyaways (Sepang or Bahrain), three in European season (maybe Barcelona, Germany and Monza) and then one in late season (probably Abu Dhabi). One car per team, only drivers who didn't participate any session during the weekend are allowed.
That idea has been raised quite a few times in the past, particularly given that the MotoGP series has found an extended race weekend format works quite well. Luca Di Montezemolo has been particularly vocal about the idea, since, and he has a point, the teams have already paid the bulk of the transport costs to get to the venue in the first place, not to mention that the marshals have already been paid for the race weekend (since any test session effectively has to have the same number of marshals and medics as a regular race weekend), so extending the race weekend by one more day would be relatively cheap compared to setting up a separate test.
The alternative that has also been raised would be making Thursday's a test session, since most of the teams normally arrive at the circuit on a Thursday, and increasingly on a Wednesday, before the race weekend in order to set the garage and cars up as soon as possible. Again, since the teams are already at the circuit, as are the necessary staff, it'd be easier and cheaper than setting up a separate test venue.
In the end, I expect that there will be a move in the near future for such a deal to occur, especially since, to a certain extent, the teams already have a similar scheme running with the Young Driver tests they have been holding in recent years after the Abu Dhabi GP. OK, there might be an issue with the contracts that FOM have for the race weekends (Silverstone mentioned that they had a contract dispute with FOM over their planned Young Driver test), although that shouldn't be too hard to resolve in the end.
The more likely problem is that there are an increasingly large number of back to back races in the early part of the season, which would make it harder for the teams to wrap up their test programs and be ready in time for the next weekend - I imagine, though, that were the teams to agree cost savings on testing, they might be able to scrap the summer shut down period (which only offers marginal cost savings anyway, from the reports that have been put out in the press) and use that to spread the races out a bit more.

It was kind of a fairytale. After spending real life 1988 barely qualifying that pile of garbage EuroBrun, Stefano Modena wins the first race of 1989 for a team that did exactly the same thing as EuroBrun the year before, but with Alex Caffi at the wheel instead.
But then of course, he stabbed me in the back to go to Williams, the b*****d. Was hoping to see Nannini finally get a WDC.

And I'd just stumbled across a real gem at Tyrrell. Oh, who was it now...oh yeah! It was a Frenchman by name of Jean Alesi.

It's a shame my Onyx team couldn't emulate that success! I was looking forward to seeing how my tie up with Lola and Honda engines would go in 1990, things were really promising... Ah, good times.

Quite likely Kostas sent an e-mail to the admins, and as Jamie happened to get online to post about the season review podcast, he had the opportunity to change it.

Hey, if Nannini hadn't stabbed me in the back to join you in the first place, I'd never have considered Modena. Besides, don't act like Boutsen wasn't going to take everyone to the cleaners that year.

That reached about $15 million for one season's salary didn't it? I think only Schumacher has ever earned more than that in one season of F1 before? And maybe Hamilton will just about break that amount now too...

6-100 - Moves to a Ferrari

This is F1 rejects: if somebody makes jokes about you, that means they slighlty like you
![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)
It doesn't sound logic, but things are often like that in life too, so don't worry.
At times it might look like people are against you, but if they were really against you, someone neutral would have noticed that and probably stood up against it. I can't image
the wiser people of us letting such things happen. We do not know you in person, so you should not take anything in here personally.
We all have bad sides, but these bad sides is what makes us F1 rejects. We don't judge about other rejects. In fact, we should ban Mario because he's too damn intelligent

Motorola ended up suing NASCAR because they were forced to take logos off one of their cars when Nextel/Sprint got the title sponsorship. In the end I think they made a deal where Motorola ended up technically advertising one of their other products (I think it might have been their radio streaming) instead of mobile phones. Of course the logo was exactly the same but with a small subscript saying "radio" or something.
