Thierry Boutson was classified 12th in the 1984 South African Grand Prix. However he shouldn't have been classified 12th. Why?

As well as Eppie Wietzes and Peter Revson (if his DNQ doesn't count as a race...). It also depends if you count Hans Heyer in this. Adrian Campos shares this stat as well.

Apparently the very first race to be red flagged (and which counted for the F1 championship) was the 1950 Indy 500. It was red flagged due to rain. So I imagine that something like that was indeed in F1 regulations. Outside the Indy 500, the first one was the 1971 Canadian GP also due to bad weather. After that almost every year saw a red flagged race. Previously, and even in that horrible Von Trips accident, no race was stopped. I suppose it was because they didn't make an habit of it.

I've read in another
site that the first flags used were yellow and red and dated from 1899. I know that not all flags were available in 1950, but I could not find those which were (and I safely bet that the blue ones were pretty recent!

But they kept on racing when Bandini died in Monaco, so it doesn't answer it fully. They also kept racing when Roger Williamson died, was the race temporarely stopped when Peterson crashed? In that case it has to be between 73 and 79. Mario?
Btw, they have somewhat stopped using the red flags... Last time was when Burti crashed? When Kubica crashed it was SC, same with Ralf Schumacher.

Btw, they have somewhat stopped using the red flags... Last time was when Burti crashed? When Kubica crashed it was SC, same with Ralf Schumacher.
They used the red flag just last year. In the Korean GP.
About the Williamson crash it was a major cock up it seems. They thought it was Purley who had crashed and since he left the car uninjured there were no reasons to red flag the thing.

. I guess that is a good sign they didn't used it since. It means that no crash was serious enough for them to do that. I think the current procedure is:
small shunt = Yellow flags, unless it is a difficult access area for marshals in which case safety car is deployed;
big shunt = safety car, if a driver stays in the cockpit with marshals signalling that is serious then red flag is deployed.

Wasn't a qualy session red-flagged due to Ide-incompetance?
And in Peter Ustinov's Grand Prix of Gilbraltar, they have two additional flags, a pink one and a pale blue & orange on. The former means the residents of the local hotel are complaining about the noise and to try to keep the noise down, and the latter meaning there'll be an aerial attack and to take shelter in the tunnel. Let's hope the pink flag will never be used at Brands Hatch, Spa, Monza, Monaco, Singapore, etc.!

All correct, apart from the link to Hamilton. Shinji, you should have been able to guess from Josh's helmet that he was a Hill...
Link to Hamilton: Josh has a brother with Down's Syndrome, Lewis has a brother with cerebral palsy.
I was also going to ask what the link between the driver and the track was, the answer being that Brands Hatch has a corner named after Josh's grandfather, but I thought that might make the answers too easy...

Why did Mclaren pay 1 million US Dollars for a copy of Ricardo Patrese's 1993 Benetton contract?

No. But it does have something to do with some very complex & clever negotiations to recruit another driver.

Seeing as in the last couple of days, no body has tried to answer the question of what complex & clever negotiations tactics were behind Mclaren acquiring Ricardo Patrese's 1993 Benetton contract, I shall give you lot another clue to help.
Basically, Ron Dennis knew that Schumacher had a certain clause in his Benetton contract (which ran until 1995). Ron also knew that something in Patrese's contract, breach that particular clause in Schumacher's contract. That is why he offered Patrese 1 million US Dollars for a copy of his 1993 Benetton contract. Upon recieving Patrese's contract, Ron then approached Schumacher, to highlight to him this breach that Benetton had made, in the hope that Schumacher would be angry with Benetton & join Mclaren.
Can you tell me what the clause & subsquence breach in question were? (it is perhaps more obvious than you may think)

Yes that was in Schumacher's contract, but as far as I am aware Patrese didn't also have number 1 status.
In fact the clause I was looking for stipulated "no teammate to Schumacher is allowed to be paid more than he was".Therefore Ron knew that Patrese WAS being paid more than Schumacher in 1993. That is why he offered Patrese 1 million US Dollars for a copy of his 1993 Benetton contract. Upon recieving Patrese's contract, Ron then approached Schumacher, to highlight to him this breach that Benetton had made against him, in the hope that Schumacher would be angry with Benetton & accept a offer to join Mclaren.
Instead Schumacher, approached Flavio Briatore about this breach & Flavio apologised & pleaded for Schumacher to stay at Benetton, paying him more money as a result.

Two races into this season and Sebastian Vettel has a 24 point lead over second placed man Jenson Button. The largest points gap the championship leader had over the second placed car last year was 14 points. Two drivers managed to achieve it once each during the season. Who were they, what race was it after and who was in second place on those occasions?
