I knew he was their test driver in 1995, and even substituted for Katayama once, but that looks like the 1994 Tyrrell.

When did she this test?
I'm guessing late 2011.

To me that looks to be massive (a bit like an F1 verison of an US muscle car) in comparsion to other 1986 F1 cars. The chassis also looks to be quite outdated, as well, in comparsion to most other 1986 F1 cars.
So this got me wondering, does anyone know what is the oldest chassis an F1 team has attempted to qualify in a race was. Off the top of my head I would have thought it to have been the 2006 Super Aguri, which IIRC was just a 2002 Arrows (A23 I think?) with a different paint job.

ibsey wrote:That kinda reminds me of a story I read in a book called Grand Prix Sabotuers by Joe Saward. At the first motor race held in Paris, after WW2, IIRC all the cars entered were pre WW2 machines that had been hidden during the war in farmyard barns, etc. Anyway, one of the drivers (can't remember who it was off the top of my head), found he couldn't restart his car when he wanted to enter into this race. The reason being, was he found Rat droppings in somewhere like the exhast pipes.
So all the other drivers all jokely nicknamed this particular driver 'Rat Droppings' (or a word with a the same meaning as 'droppings', but sounds very simliar to 'hit'). Thereafter his nickname forever followed him. So much so that when he retired & decided to open up a resturant, he named it after his nickname that he became famous for.

The reject who never was! If only the FIA had granted him a superlicence, who knows what reject goodness he could have produced. Something on the levels of Deletraz?
I don't think he's the father of $akon though...

According to Driversdb, Katsumi Yamamoto is 37 years old at now, too young to be Sakon's father.
I don't know if they are related, but I think that Yamamoto is a common surname in Japan.

He's led every lap he's ever done!! Not even the likes of Fangio, Senna or Schumacher can hold a light to that achievement

It's an ugly-arse lump isn't it? The early Hart turbos were well dodgy.
