Other old games I like include Mordor (a role-playing game with a great guild system but surprisingly less broad-ranging than the decade-younger Rogue) and Dr. Drago's Madcap Chase (the only board-game to computer-game conversion I've ever seen that worked).
I like old games a lot, which is just as well because my somewhat creaky custom-built computer's components are, on average, 7 years old and do not run anything newer than The Sims 2 (which is my favourite computer game).

Every one of your posts on here makes me laugh at least a bit.

...oi, careful! Remember the post I wrote about Mike Hewland dying? I'd be slightly concerned if anyone laughed at that...
Though, if you want more comedy gold, just wait until Alianora actually sees this post. I'm half-expecting to be able to hear a scream of abject horror echoing over the Peak District that curdles every carton of milk in its blast radius. And the other half of me is really hoping that doesn't happen, because that's a lot of milk and I can't stand waste.
Anyway, gaming? I've been spending far too long recently on
Fantasy Online with the sound turned down and the soundtrack from
Turrican II playing instead. Try it.

Anyone an expert on GP2 or DOSBox? Because everytime, a race in Grand Prix 2 (using my personal carset that includes some of my characters from Perry McCarthy Memorial Forum) with GP2Lap, finishes, I got the following:
DOSBox Status Window wrote:Illegal read from ffffff84, CS IP 180: 4cd44e
Which, apparently, corrupted the track records - I have to run "Restore all Original Records" in Track Records menu before I exit the game.
Any help? (DOSBox version 0.74)

I'm happy at the moment managing Inter. Totally rebuilt the squad. Controversial choice of striker in Luis Suárez on my team, but I got him for a snip at £6M, and by god he is good in this game. 7 goals in 7 Champions League games this season, the man's a machine (ok, so, it is actually played on a machine, so the saying is rather redundant seeing as "he" really
is a machine...). Also leading Serie A by 11 points by the Christmas break. SUCK ON THAT RUBENTUS!
Speaking of which, Jubentus are currently 12th in Serie A on my FM game...

Quite a lot non-F1 threads here...not so recently, but I thought I still make note of this fact.

I recently got my hands on Bioshock for PS3. A great game, but it shows why I don't like playing first-person shooters that much. It scares me to easily.
![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
I mean, I have no problems with third-person shooters like GTA, where you can see your opponents from a wide range. But with a game like Bioshock, which also has batshit insane opponents? All I can say to is, damn!

Speaking of first-person shooter games, did anyone ever play any of the 3 Timesplitters games that were on the previous generation consoles? I wasted many hours playing those games, especially with my mates. Nothing like 4 player split screen gaming with you and 3 mates.

You might want to check out SimRaceway (based on the rFactor engine), it has a fairly accurate version of Zandvoort and it's a free to play game - you get a Mitsubishi Evo X for free, other cars have to be bought with cash or in-game credits.

Haven't heard of him. Is it that bad?
I've been lacking the previous console generation, and now that I got a PS2 in July, I started to buy several games, so far I got MGS3-4, GT3-4, F1 2003 (just because of that awesome Monza bug
![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)
) and 06, NFS Carbon, Toca Race Driver, Black and Killzone... and now I'm waiting for Gungrave, GT Concept, Burnout 2, Auto Modellista and WRC 4 to arrive.
I'll plan to make videos out of these (not advertising myself: not making English videos since March - no point in making these... let's just say I'm a veteran YT-er in my country) when I'll get a recording device for my PS2 (and I have a PS1 too).

Such good games. Burnout 2 is my second favorite in the series and Auto Modellista is so underrated (except for the controls, there are more slippery than soap).
I seriously want Capcom to make Auto Modellista 2 for the next generation of consoles, and for Criterion to get their head out of EA's wallet and make a good game for once.

I liked Auto Modellista as well. Controls aside, it was acually a great game. The cel-shaded graphics, with it's GT3-esque gameplay made it a rather unique game at the time. Took forever to get on the Xbox though. Another game that I thought was severly overlooked was Mobil 1 Rally Championship for the PC. Still the best rally game I've ever played. So many different cars to choose from, and rallies that lasted as much as 25 miles. No other rally game that I know of to date, that has come that close to emulating that much perspective into it.

I had Mobil 1 RC on PS1. The graphics were definitely ahead of its time, it was close to a first-gen PS2 game. The controls were hard to get used to, but after that, I nailed the game. Same went for V-Rally 2 as well.

It's so disappointing that Burnout has been neglected while EA have Criterion working on Need for Speed... I mean, whilst Most Wanted 2 looks more like Burnout Paradise 2, the things that made Burnout great (damage modelling and Crash mode) cannot be included in a Need for Speed due to licencing restrictions that Burnout avoids with it's fictional vehicles.
I remember Auto Modellista as well, played that so much back in the day. The main thing I remember about it other than the cel-shaded graphics was the unlockable Tamiya mode, which turned your car into an RC car. If you like the touge style courses in Auto Modellista, check out Tokyo Xtreme Racer Drift 2/Kaido Racer 2 (for PS2), it's probably the most in-depth Touge game out there and has a varied selection of JDM cars... including a Suzuki Carry kei-truck

Oh, and it also has an intro song by Daiki Kasho.

If you thought Mobil 1 RC was great, give Richard Burns Rally a try. It's easily the most realistic rally sim out there and has a very unforgiving level of difficulty. It didn't come with many cars or huge 25 mile stages, however there is a massive mod called RSRBR that adds many vehicles and stages to the game. I only had it on PS2 though, and despite being on console - which usually to the PC elitists means that the game has been dumbed down - it was still fearsomely difficult, especially without a FFB wheel.

No, what I really meant is that I can't install the DOS-Version of ICR2. Every time I start the installation, it stops due to failing to verify the "Main.Dat".
Sure, I could also use Grand Prix 2 (Even though GP2Edit won't install on Windows 7), but it doesn't feel like a proper oval racing simulation to me. And I'd mainly like to do some IRL seasons, because I suck too much at road courses.

Speaking of GP2Edit: while the installer doesn't work on Windows 7, you can still use it perfectly if you install it on another computer with an older operating system and then copy the files to your Win7 machine. I did so to be able to test my liveries for F1RDS, and here's the link to a readily-installed copy you can unzip to any folder and use from there:

Meanwhile, I've spent the last month of my life on FIFA 11, helping Chievo Verona win Serie A. No mean feat, especially when you consider I had it on legendary difficulty (the hardest I'd previously been on was Amateur) and the halfs were 6 minutes long each. What was even better is that Juventus came 13th, AC Milan came 16th, and Fiorentina came bottom with only one win (which incidentally was a 4-0 win against me

So it would appear you can't buy referees in Fifa...
And yes, getting Chievo Verona to do anything is incredibly difficult, they are by far the dullest and mediocre football team in the world. If Serie A were represented by a living room, Chievo would be the bland beige low intensity lamp that got put in the corner and people forget to ever use. They are masters of anonymity.
Meanwhile back in my Football Manager Serie A game, it's only the middle of February and I already have a 17 point lead at the top of Serie A ahead of Roma. Unfortunately however Juventus have been able to claw their way back up to 8th in the table. Udinese are really struggling, only 5 wins and they're 2 points above relegation.
Compare this to Fifa, where I'm scraping the bottom of the table with Inter, only 4 points in 5 matches puts me 13th and already 11 points behind league leaders Lazio.
