IMO having all the driver stats really close together isn't nice. It's totally impossible to distinguish between driver skill. Skills should be RNG'd at the start of the year, with bonuses added for previous success in a previous year. At least this way some drivers emerge at the fore and we get much clearer instances of Voecklers. Even Nestra Aya showed flashes of brilliance in a manner than Benoit never did.

Because it's Winter Cup, it doesn't matter too much...but I have a suggestion for this.

I can RNG the drivers ready for the season proper between, say, +200/-200 and then the drivers with a season under their belts can take some extra addition onto their perfs based on championship position. Then we continue with the standard perf buildup over the season.

I like the RNG idea. Nice and simple, and ensures a certain element of randomness to give new drivers a chance, whilst preserving some of the experience gained by drivers who drove last year. The fact it isn't in place for the Winter Cup doesn't really matter because it's NC.

Laguna Seca Race Two

V-Sport
The midfield can often be a problem for most teams; if they slip up in qualifying then the vast collection of cars in the middle of the pack will generally signal an end to a driver's race. This is largely what happened to V-Sport; Reith spent most of the time leading a train of cars which Frankham was very much part of. Reith did manage to break away in the second half of the race, and dumped Suomanen into said train. Perhaps a race the team would like to forget.

Definitely Maybe Racing
At last, a result for the British team to cheer about! Lappalainen made the most of a good qualifying and leapfrogged both Red Bull cars early on. He settled down nicely in 4th, and although Feldhoffer almost dropped it into the final corner at the end of lap 3, the DMR didn't have the same pace and thus had to cash in on a very encouraging result. The same couldn't be said of Castaneda, who was very much embroiled in the midfield scrap.

Good Call Racing
Good Call have never been particularly pacy in the Winter Cups, and again this showed with both drivers very far down the rankings. Quiet races for both Marsden and Connolly, nothing to report here.

Nurminen Racing Engineering
A race that more or less started how it finished. Vosu spent the first half of the race trying to pass Grove and the second half trying to drive away from him. Grunewald, on the other hand, was off-colour all weekend and could only try his hardest not to be the recipient of the wooden spoon. The Finnish squad will certainly expect better.

Écurie Prenois
Aimée Gauthier is really doing her best to prove she's got what it takes, and grabbing another podium is a very good result. Although she spent the first few laps in 3rd, Feldhoffer's drop on lap 3 allowed her through to put Barlini under some pressure. She kept this up, finishing less than a second behind the Italian. Suomanen, on the other hand, spent most of his afternoon battling with Reith.

Team Echoften
Patrick Feldhoffer is an incredibly lucky man. Managing the gap to Gauthier behind him, the German braked too late at the final corner and managed to hit the wall. However, his car seemed to continue on unscathed, and still managed to pick up a podium. Mestach was another driver bogged down in the midfield, and never looked like scoring today.

Mecha GP Junior Team
Quiet races from both drivers, however Botha suffered a water leak by lap 8 and cut his afternoon short.

Aeroracing Junior Engineering
Nichols had another decent race, sitting just behind the two Rosenforths in the first half just to pick up any pieces. He managed to pick off Grey by lap 11, and did a fine job of holding off the American driver. It was business as usual for Rudd, as he sat around the back end of the field.

Red Bull World Race Team
Both drivers had a very satisfying afternoon, both getting a good haul of points to finally show that both cars can perform well together. Although the fight between Scrattenheim and Silva was exciting, they did both lose a couple of positions relative to where they qualified.

Rosenforth Engineering
A very exciting battle between both drivers was cut short by the interrupting Phil Nichols. Grey definitely had the faster car, but Fuamatu was wily in his defence of 7th and managed to keep the car there. Grey will be aggrieved not to have finished higher, but decent points for both drivers.

Kingfisher Racing
Grove was on course for a point until being dumped out of the top 10 by Vosu, who had the measure of the Australian. Kuznevic had a tentative start to life in the F1RDS, finishing rather a long way down compared to his team-mate. However, he's got Long Beach to prove whether he should get the nod ahead of Riva.

Scuderia Alitalia
Barlini had a great race; stealing past Feldhoffer at the beginning he kept his lead just so to ward off any opposition. He was under pressure from Gauthier by the end, but the Italian driver definitely did enough to claim the top step. Mineiro was in the proverbial no-man's-land, sitting in between the points contenders and the midfield pack.

Octan Young Drivers
When will Octan finally get some luck? Barrett was definitely trying his best to get his car up into the points-scoring region, but he just didn't seem to have the car underneath him to make it count. Nicchi clearly didn't bond with the Laguna Seca circuit, and again had a poor run.

Aimée Gauthier wrote:Unfortunately, despite my good qualifying and start, I was unable to pass Barlini. I did try a couple times to make an overtake, but he was very insistent in his defence, so I thought it was better to finish second than get taken out. He probably needs the win to help his ego after being terrible in every race before this. Still, I managed to keep it clean and tidy on the track, which is more than can be said for Feldhoffer - the way he drove into the barrier, you would think it was his first race!

For the Winter Cup, I am in a better position than most, but it is still a bigger gap to Fuamantu than I would like. Still, I will drive as good as I can in Long Beach and hope that that is enough. We can win both races, but whether or not we actually do so is another matter.

Almost half a minute behind his teammate isn't exactly a promising achievement... Don't worry about getting sacked, Octan has patience with his drivers (unless if they are IBR/Alitalia backed  ), but it's obvious that probably Barett is the one that will make the promotion to the F3RWRS team in 2017. But if Nicchi improves, he could get promoted too.

Oi! That's hardly fair! I let Pazzo complete the entire 2015 season in F2RWRS! I know my reputation preceeds me, and IBR does have a habit of swiftly sacking underperformers, but I never forced this upon Octan/RonDen! :D

After the Winter Cup is over, and before the Main Series starts, I'd like a slight name change to my time.

From then on, it will be known as Scuderia Alitalia EnerG. This is why.

Indeed it is. I'm a Guarana Antarctica aficionado, so I decided to base my next fictional brand on it. But branding it as an energy drink instead of a soft drink. You know, seeing as energy drinks are the new tobacco sponsorship and everything...

And I agree with your last sentence, that's why I created it.

It could even give people stuck outside the system in waiting lists something to do in the future. Create fake businesses and sell their sponsorship. Maybe that could be a way for the financial system in some series to change, the ability to entice sponsors could give teams more money to spend. With a catch obviously that you can't back your own team with your own sponsor unless it's for free.

With this in mind, it's a shame in my mind that this is genuine, because if I had not seen one of their vans/lorries on the road, and someone had posted their logo here, I would have believed that they had been made up. Perhaps by someone who is known to come up with implausible names...

I know the waiting list has ended and all, but I'm entering a new team called Henri Racing Technologies Junior Team. I will have a sole driver in Jukka-Pekka Kankaanpää, aged 18, of Finland.

I'll wait a little before entering the team in competition mode, so I can see what is going on in the thread, since I'm kinda new to this... I need to sit back and learn.

GP2 would allow for single-car teams, but this isn't something I'm gonna implement.

I get the driver will go on the waiting list, but is this a team entry too? I'm a bit confused...

It's supposed to be a team entry. Are you saying that I need a second car? If so, I have another driver ready.

If it's a team, I have Tomasz Pulaski ready. :)

We can strike a deal then! But I won't enter immediately, though. I need to hang back and learn how this works, as I said earlier. I'll get the team running though, no worries :D

Well, that's assuming a slot opens up anytime soon. Speaking of which, Ataxia, do you have the waiting list for the series anywhere?

Oh. Of course it is. I'm just used to them being on the wiki...

Oh, Graham Rudd is going to be so fired after the Winter Cup ends it won't be funny. I shall put Dennis Tauranac in the car for the main season.
