Does anyone know why Webber was so upset after qualifying? I had to go out just after it finished and didn't see any post-amble.

Well, either he or the team screwed up their timing and so Webber did not cross the line before 0:00. Not that another lap would've done him much good, given that he was on older inters like the Mercedes drivers (and see how that turned out for them), but you can understand that a lost chance is bad - especially for Webber who needs every bit of success he can get his hands on.

Now that the IceCreamMan is back in the paddock at least we'd have some entertainment.

What seems to have happened is that, for some reason, either Webber or the team misjudged where Hamilton was in respect to Webber and asked Webber to back off a bit before going for one last flying lap. Hamilton, naturally keen to press on for his flying lap, promptly passed Webber, and it seems that Webber therefore backed off a bit more so he would have better visibility rather than sit in Hamilton's spray - that seems to be the reason why he ended up crossing the line too late and missed out on that final lap, though looking at the rest of the field it is doubtful whether he'd have gained that much anyway.

Mind you, in some ways it may not be so much of a disadvantage in the end depending on the weather situation - Vettel was admitting in the post qualifying conference that it would be better for him if it was an entirely dry race rather than a wet one, since he has more dry weather tyres than anybody else save Sutil but, because he did use that extra set of intermediate tyres in qualifying, he is worried that he doesn't have enough wet weather tyres if it does rain.

I've never heard of anyone running out of intermediate weather tyres, but if that did happen, I could imagine it'd be chaotic, as teams would end up on the full wets on an intermediate track or vice versa, leading to excessive wear or aquaplaning.

It's pretty impressive how far Force India have come. From backmarkers with no points to probably the 5th best car on the grid. And to think that Sutil has been around for most of it is pretty cool. Most of the time you think of drivers moving up the field by way of team change, but Sutil has done it by sitting around (and leaving and coming back, no less) in the same team.

That was the way that Vettel phrased his comments, although I suspect that he was exaggerating a little when he said that. The reason he is a little worried is because the teams are currently only allocated four sets of intermediates, one of which he used in the practise sessions and two which he used today, leaving him with just one fresh set.

Now, I don't think that Vettel will end up with no intermediates at all, even if his car is quite hard on its tyres - but it may be the case that, having put his tyres through more heat cycles and wear than his rivals, that Vettel would probably either be forced into pitting earlier for another set of inters or he would be forced to back off slightly from his maximum pace in order to manage the wear rate.

Well, my opinion of Lotus has gone up.

EDIT: And, to no-one's great surprise, di Resta is blaming the team for him not making it past Q2.

Webber not screwed. Vettel stuck behind traffic, not quite quick enough. Webber stopped after midfield stopped, therefore less traffic.

Glass of Milk does a FL. Räikkönen doesn't seem to have full control of his Lotus now.

I thank the whole pit-lane for their efforts, but Red Nose Day was last week.
