I'd give Martinez a go personally, he has experience as a manager despite only being 39 and he's kept Wigan in the Premier League year after year, although this was one season too many for the Latics.

The inevitable happenned, Genk has won the cup final.

Now one thing that annoys me about Genk fans is that when i insult them, they don't get it. They still like a status where i insult them.
For example today i mentioned their name was stolen from Racing Gent (champion in 4th division by the way) and that the most succesful team from the Limburg is still Mönchengladbach (they speak the same dialect as we do, so that does count as 'being part of the same region'). I should remember to not argue with people that aren't capable of defending themselves properly

And yes, there is still some only in Belgium news, as now there's some lawsuits coming between Heist, Oudenaarde and Sint Niklaas about who is to get relegated from second to third division. What triggered this is that when Woluwe played against Oudenaarde, they used a player that wasn't allowed to play. Initially Oudenaarde was rewarded a 5-0 victory. Now the same thing happenned in Kortrijk-Mons, and the league has decided that none of these teams got points. So they decided Oudenaarde wouldn't get points either, which means that Heist skips over them in the standings, and avoids degradation. However, technically speaking, Sint Niklaas should also jump over Oudenaarde because of goals scored or something like that, and that hasn't happened yet. (they are 16th, 17th and 18th, the last two would get relegated straight to division 3, and the third last has to play against some division3 teams. However with Beerschot dissapearing only the last one would get relegated straight and the 17th will play against the 3rd division teams). It looks as that every single problem in the competition is related to Woluwe's antics, they look like a team that's attracting trouble.

Apparently, and I'm not 100% sure how true this is, but apparently, Tony Fernandes has sent a QPR fan a season ticket, free of charge, after she said she couldn't afford said ticket

What a c*ck - I HATE Whelan, he's full of himself and thinks that by being a successful businessman (REALITY : Owner of a shockingly bad sportswear firm who got done for their business practices and are due to go bankrupt any time) and owner of a top Premier League club (REALITY : Club with hardly any fans with an abysmal pitch from January onwards because the locals only care about the rugby) that we should all listen to what he thinks.

Even worse is the way the media have fallen over themselves to claim that he somehow deserves to win the FA Cup because he broke his leg in the final when he was a player. Yes, well. I think you'll find that there are many other (better) players whose careers were ended very early but just got on with it without prattling on about how hard life has been all the time (Northern chip on the shoulder syndrome there I think)

It's the right decision by far. Man City have lost the league by a ridiculous amount of points, when they in theory should have won or at least contested closely for the title. The squad is too good to finish an adrift 2nd if managed properly. Take the FAA cup for example, City should have slaughtered Wigan yet slumped to a 1-0 defeat.

What complete rubbish. Time and again these rich owners with attention spans shorter than a five year old child just fire managers at the earliest provocation. Mancini had an excellent squad at his disposal, but that's proven anyway by two FA Cup finals in three years and first and then second in the Premier League in two seasons. He, just like any other manager, needed time to grow into the role and build up the structure around him in the style he wanted with the players he wanted. You can't chop and change managers and expect to do well - look at Chelsea. For all of Roman's money they couldn't win a raffle this year, and even if Jose comes back, it'll take time before they're up their challenging for the PL again.

I wonder what name City will draw out of its hat. Maybe Jupp Heynckes? If he wants to go to the Premier League, that is. He could also return to Real Madrid, after all. Mourinho is likely to go to Chelsea, while Ancelotti is happy in Paris. Not that City signs Rafa Benitez in the end.

Mancini is a terrible manager, his results at Citeh were from him being able to buy more talent than anyone else. He doesn't get the best out of a lot of the high-priced talent he brings in and might be the only Italian manager I know of that is completely clueless tactically. For a "cup specialist" to get comprehensively outmanaged in a cup final by a manager that's forced to field a team of soon-to-be relegated rugby players against his all-stars is inexcusable. He never advanced from the UCL group stage. Even his success at Inter was largely due to them being the only big Serie A club not getting the hammer for buying Scudettos like everyone else did.

Citeh fans should be thankful that England produces such useless footballers like Milner, Barry, and Rodwell that they put the final nail in the Mancini coffin in the FA Cup final.

I think Mancini, looking at his trophies, always looked like a man who lucked into it. My point is that, when tactical displays came into the fore (which is mostly seen in European competitions), Manchester City, and Mancini's Inter while we are at it, were never a factor to take into account.

His European record speaks for itself:
2001-02: Fiorentina, ousted in the third round of UEFA Cup by Lille.
2002-03: Lazio, lost in the semi-finals, trounced by the Porto of Mourinho. This is still his best run.
2003-04: Lazio, last in a CL group consisting of Chelsea, Sparta Prague and Besiktas.
2004-05: Inter, lost in CL quarter-finals after losing the two matches with rivals Milan.
2005-06: Inter, another exit in the CL quarter-finals, this time at the hands of Villarreal thanks to a away goal.
2006-07: Inter, last 16, CL, another Spanish team (Valencia) and another away goals defeat.
2007-08: Inter, last 16, CL, two losses with Liverpool did it.
2010-11: Man City, Europa League, last 16, lost to Dynamo Kyiv after another Balotelli shenanigan and a useless display in Ukraine.
2011-12: Man City, Europa League after being 3rd in their CL group, lost to Sporting Lisbon in the last 16. I has to be said that Sporting had a much inferior team and a rookie manager at that time. He also admitted to have underestimated Sporting, which doesn't usually goes well in Europe. He is also not the only one, since English sides tend to do it all the time.
2012-13: Man City, last of their CL group after another torrid European season.

Could have he done better? Given the teams he had, yes, I think so.

Meanwhile, the next "loaded" French club is coming up: AS Monaco is rumoured to buy Carlos Tevez and Radamal Falcao! Even with the lower taxation in Monaco (Which will be gone by 2014 anyway, as Monaco has to pay French taxes), Falcao might lose a year, where he doesn't play internationally. On the other hand, Falcao might just be parked at Monaco, so Real Madrid could buy him in 2014. Still, Falcao should go to the Premier League, because he could play in a much more competitive enviroment then.

Oh, Bayern is also rumoured to have bought Neymar. Yeah, right...

Rumours about Jack Wilshere going to Bayern are appearing. I doubt that's real.

Rooney has handed in a transfer request, probably drawn on the back of a napkin with a crayon. Arsene Wenger was asked about it and declined to comment, when usually he does. So could be an approach for him soon. Chelsea are Rumoured to be interested too.

Neymar to Bayern? Heard it. Doubt it.

As for Mancini getting the chop. I think it's bloody harsh. One poor (as in BPL runner-up) season and he's gone?! Sound like a poisoned-chalice now.

Wigan relegated, so the bottom 3 now sorted out.

Final day interesting still, with Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham all playing out for champions league.

Chelsea are 2 points and 1 goal difference ahead of Arsenal. If Chelsea and Arsenal win it stays the same. If Chelsea draw, Arsenal can take 3rd if they win (away at Newcastle). If Arsenal draw or loose, Tottenham can pip them to fourth should they win v Sunderland. Tottenham can mathematically finish 3rd, but are -16 on goal difference so unlikely. Tots must win at all costs, as they are a point behind the Gunners and are -15 on goal difference.

Meanwhile in Serie A, the relegation battle is already over. Palermo, Siena and Pescara are going down.

Without their six point deduction for match-fixing, Siena would be going into the final game of the season 1 point behind 17th place Genoa, and 2 points behind Torino in 16th. Their woeful first half of the year is what really killed their season, not the second half where they were reborn with Innocent Emeghara. It will be interesting to see where Emeghara ends up next season.

Same problem for Palermo. Woeful first half of the season, didn't get moving until they re-hired Sannino. Who got sacked just because in his first three matches he lost to Napoli and Lazio (way better teams than Palermo) and drew to Cagliari (fair enough if you ask me). So Josip Ilicic will be on the move somewhere, apparently Napoli if rumours are to be believed.

As for Pescara...they were just rubbish all year. Looked totally out of place in Serie A. Their best area, like Inter, was in between the sticks. But, again, like Inter, this doesn't make a difference when the three or four players just ahead are utter clowns. Mattia Perin is a young keeper with potential, Ivan Pelizzoli is a Serie A veteran who just played one of his best seasons in a long time, but their defense was a mixture of nobodies and midfield team rejects (Luciano Zauri & Per Kroldrup). Gaetano D'Agostino had one good season about five years ago, and their only player who was actually any good, Quintero, will be moving to La Liga probably.
