the Masked Lapwing wrote:RIP Australian Formula Ford. Apart from the fact this now makes it harder for Aussies to get to Europe than it already was, it now seems a given that Ford will stop funding FPR and ruin V8s as well.

It has to be said that Formula Ford as a whole has seen a slight decline in its popularity due to the rise of other comparable series - in Germany, the ADAC Formel Masters series now acts as a feeder series to the German F3 series, in Italy Formula Abarth has taken over that role (and is slowly expanding into the wider European racing scene) and France has its own national Formula 4 Championship instead. It is still a relatively popular series in many countries, but it has to be said that it is facing stiffer competition in some places due to the rise of alternative series with similar performance and operating costs.

If Ford do pull out of the V8s when their Australian factory closes up shop in 2016, what will that do to the series, because the old Ford/Holden rivalry will be no more? I wonder if there will be a drop in support for the series, as all the Ford fans either give up on the series, or become Nissan/Mercedes/Volvo fans instead. or even turn to the red side... :o

I also have to wonder just how secure Holden are in the series, what with the problems that GM have suffered during the last few years, and the introduction of new makes onto the grid.

I've just lost all respect I had for HRT.

I mean, an AFL team is bad enough, but why Collingwood?

Warburton and co have just done the impossible and managed a contract extension for the Telstra 500.

It also means we'll get our first twilight/night races since the mid 90s. Bring it on, I say :D

What the bathplug was the point of the government pouring all those upgrades into Eastern Creek if they aren't even going to try to get some decent series there?

And another piece of the silly season puzzle is falling into place.

Seriously, if they want to dither around like that with their works team, they might as well go home. They are flat-out ruining Australian motorsport right now.

The fate of Holden may not be so bad as GM is pushing the Holdens onto the American customers with the Chevy Impala/Chevy SS cars. If GM does anything, they might merge Holden and Chevy together given the increasing overlap between the two.

Meanwhile, things go from bad to worse for Erebus Motorsport, as they're losing Slade for next year, and now Mercedes HQ are putting the fire under Betty Klimenko's mob

They're gonna get Ere-busted for that poor performance. Reminds me of the early 1990s Porsche engines in F1 for Footwork-Arrows.

How Michael Caruso didn't end up spearing into the fence on the approach to Dandenong Road during qualifying will remain a mystery for the ages.

In other news, WHINCUPWINSLOL has obliterated the lap record on his way to yet another pole position.

I swear it's only JDub's car that ever gets pinged for spinning the wheels during a pitstop

Didn't stop the WHINCUPWINSLOL steamroller though. Nor did Walsh's hefty shunt for that matter.

Ingall's successor at Walkinshaw has been announced.

Hopefully Walkinshaw will give him a good car to work with, as the guy deserves a championship at some point.

Solid choice. He was quite impressive in 2012 and deserved better than Erebus

Supposedly, Texas will be back in 2015. They made a hefty loss this year though, and V8SCA don't like losing money.

1. Triple 8 have got their head around setup for JDub's car. Dear HWNSNBM help us all
2. The #47 car is cursed

Well, the WHINCUPWINSLOL steamroller continued into qualifying, despite him clouting the wall at the exit of the Dipper.

Didn't hit it as hard as Mostert did during practice though.

what Nissan needs to do to win the big race is slap a turbo/awd setup on all 4 of their cars. and run the Winton fuel mix.
