Seriously though, I will probably not fire Scott yet. Since I want to retain a theoretical shot at making it to the grid, I need a proper pay driver as replacement. I cannot use Du Lei because of the five driver limit and neither van Dycke nor Buyvolov seem that appealing.

I'd like to make it clear that I remain committed to Scuderia Alitalia for the rest of the year, where I will put in 100% effort to extract 100% out of the car and try and get those first points! The reasons for my retirement honsetly have nothing to do with the Scuderia Alitalia team, it is based on my own choice. The cars have changed dramatically since when I first started, and I don't feel that I can fully master their abilities any more. New regulations are coming in next year, and the amount of talent in the lower levels is astonishing, I feel like I'm taking up a seat.

All in all, many thanks to everyone I've been worked with for such great experiences!"

David Koczo remains the only Hungarian to have ever competed at a F1RWRS event. As of today, he has 71 entries, 40 starts, 100 points, 3 victories, 4 pole positions and 1 fastest lap.

The ever mercurial Kay Lon was mentioned as an Alitalia target during 2014, and has once again been linked to Alitalia this season too. But the other driver linked to Alitalia is a driver managed by the German; Tomo Kazama, who is currently leading the F2RWRS championship. Alitalia management is said to be impressed which her quick progress in the junior ranks, and seriously considering giving her a seat over their own in-house young talents Andrej Kremnicky and Bastiaan van Nieuwenhuijzen.

While the above appears to be the strongest rumour so far, L'Equipe has suggested that Philippe Nicolas is also being considered by the Scuderia Alitalia board, a driver currently on the chopping block at MRT. Meanwhile The Herald claims that another MRT-linked driver, Nathan McKane, is being eyed by countryman and Alitalia team principal Alasdair Lindsay as a possible rookie hire - the Scot is currently leading the Rejects of LFS series.

And finally, in a story we can only presume was paid for by his agent, Nestra Aya was linked to the seat by Malaysian media. It would be a signing that makes Ma Qing Hua's foray into Formula 1 back in 2012 look like a sensible driver choice.

Lon doesn't seem to like Prospec all that well, so it's more likely that Lon will go Tropico, only because they have a boatload of money funded from the government of Tropico. Though, admittingly, Lon had better get his act together or he's going to run out of teams to go to, with his less than spectacular friendships with the management of the teams he's been in the past.

So although Koczo seems to be retiring (or more likely, running out the front door), Alitalia is likely looking for new drivers. And hopefully, Kremnicky will get his well-deserved debut in the F1RWRS.

He deserves a drive in F2 at the very least...going down to F3 would be a backwards step for sure.

Sources in the Kamaha camp have said that Kamaha have made an official contract offer to Mark Dagnall to race for them as lead driver in 2016, although the Kamaha management when asked would just say "No comment" and Chris Dagnall, Marks father and manager also said "No comment.", which does lead to speculation that there is something to this contract offer. DGNeerging will be leaving F1RWRS at the end of the season to work on the Ferrari F1 car, however as there is no free seat at Ferrari it is likely that Mark will stay in F1RWRS for at least a year or two. It is no secret that Barii Mori has said he would step down if he found a younger talented driver to replace him, which does add more weight.

However we thing we may have been having our legs pulled abou the Kazama deal as it would mean Kazama would be in the Yamaha powered Kamaha, but it was told to us with a straight face and it is not April. Kazamas management team did not return our phone calls and Kamaha said "Really? News to us".

Since DGNgineering have announced that they will be leaving the F1RWRS to pursue a WCC in Formula 1, the scramble to claim the F1RWRS slot left by them has already started. It is known that 3 teams have already applied for the spot.

The first of which is a very well known entity - Luke Knight's Plus One Group, which already runs teams in various series with a generally good level of success. This, combined with their strong backing from Foster's, and already-existing driver academy, make them the clear favourites to take the slot.

Another application comes from The Fighting Mongooses squad. The team, run by Scotsman Jimmy McJimmerson, can trace its roots back to a privateer outfit in Formula 1 that started in 1952. Since then, the team has been bought out, pulled out of F1, moved to touring cars, and resold. Still, both McJimmerson and the team are reknowned for their engineering expertise, and this is expected to make up for the team's shortcomings with single-seater experience.

The third application comes from Équipe Gauthier - owned by former Formula 1 driver and F1RPG2C team owner Guillaume Gauthier, who is well-known for his iron-fisted approach to team management. That said, his organisation has little assets that can be moved to support a F1RWRS bid, as he has already stated that he will not be ending his competition in other series. Still, he has a very well-respected PR department, and owns a stake in the Paul Ricard circuit, so don't count him out by any means.
