Enough bickering and di Resta chat! We are now entering the Pedro de la Rosa zone.

DLR is the new development driver at Ferrari.

My problem with di Resta is his dullness. My goodness, he's so dull. I compared him to a glass of milk a couple of months ago, that's how pale his appearance is in public. Okay, he won the F3 Euro Series in 2006 and the DTM in 2010. So? He's shown that he may capable of driving F3 and DTM, that's all. But his recent comments about Sergio Perez really presents him as arrogant, too. Now that wouldn't be so much of a problem, if he's shown actual results in the past. Which he didn't.
My prediction is that di Resta will be out of F1 after 2013. But I just hope that his cousin in the US can get him a job there. I don't want to see him crawling back to DTM.

Hey, you asked why people were mocking di Resta, it's not my fault you have a problem with my reasons for doing so.

Good for him. There's certainly worse fates after your drive collapses out from under you.

Great news; El Pais and As also say that Lewis Hamilton was interested in bringing him to Mercedes to do the same job.

Joey Zyla, stop right now. Calling someone a douchebag in this forum is negative enough, but your reply was completely uncalled for. I'll keep an eye out on you from now on because you only seem to be there to troll other people.

I was talking about rob-lomas, we’d have to consider ourselves lucky if he posts a track within the next week. It’s obvious he does it on purpose to troll people, he’s always active, but when he answers correctly on ‘Rolling’ threads, be prepared to have your patience tested.

Neither FI seat is confirmed. There is always that fading hope that they do the right thing and go with Sutil and Grosjean2.0.

Whilst I would agree that Joey's comments about Di Resta may have been excessively defensive and uncalled for at times, equally I do feel that some of your comments, such as this one, have only helped to make matters worse. Like Phoenix, I'll be trying to keep a slightly tighter leash on some of the comments here, and I'd like to remind you that this cuts both ways - you might not like him, but such comments are only likely to provoke further arguments for the sake of arguments.

Equally, Joey, whilst I do accept that you may not be pleased about some of the comments that have been directed towards Di Resta, I would also like to ask you to not act so rashly and rudely in the future. Maybe it would be better for both sides concerned if, instead of rushing to the keyboard, you take a moment to compose yourselves and let that frustration subside before making comments that you regret at a later date.

On a tangentially related note, it looks like Ferrari are trying to apply a little bit more leverage on Force India - they have publicly announced that they are "trying to find a solution" for Bianchi that would see him get a seat in 2013, which will no doubt fuel the rumours that have been circulating around the Force India team in recent months over becoming a customer Ferrari team (in the mould of Sauber) in 2014. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/105141

I love your avatar!

There's back story to this avatar actually. Which presumably you're not aware of as you were away for so long.

It began at the end of last season, when I made an avatar bet with young eurobrun. It was a shootout between which Williams driver would unrejectify themselves first; Maldonado or Senna. I picked Maldonado and he picked Senna. Barcelona happened. I drew up that avatar myself, as for months he'd been banging on about how much he hated Grosjean. He wore it for more than 1 month, becuase, luckily, the avatar uploader system broke just before the month was up.

Later on, BCS made the bold claim that he'd take up the avatar if Grosjean won the Race of Champions. A fairly safe bet surely. Erm...apparently not. And now here we are!

Really? Bummer. I thought he was actually a fan. Great choice of avatar, though.

And that's the Big News In Formula One This Week: Pedro de la Rosa is the new Luca Badoer! We need a Pedro de la Rosa special edition of the podcast.

Well, it's pretty clear. Neither Alonso nor Domenicali want a second top driver at Ferrari. But as soon as Alonso retires, Vettel is Ferrari's preferred driver.

He'd join Gerhard Berger and Stefan Johansson then (naming only two I can think of) - no WDC, but driving for both teams.

Very well then - what about Gilles Villeneuve? OK, he only drove for McLaren on a one off occasion (in 1977), but would that count? Ickx also had a one off race with the McLaren works team (in 1973), whilst Nanni Galli had one off races with McLaren and Ferrari (McLaren in 1970 and Ferrari in 1972, although he DNQ'd at McLaren).

On more secure grounds, a quick search suggests that you can add Dan Gurney (Ferrari in 1959 and McLaren in 1970) and Patrick Tambay (1978-79 at McLaren and 1982-83 at Ferrari) to the list of Berger and Johansson as non championship winning drivers who drove for both McLaren and Ferrari.

Apparently Pdlr stood at this very spot for 5 hours during the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend,
waiting for Whitmarsh to walk by. And when he did turn up, Pdlr pleaded to him:
¡Hola Martin, excusar please. Por favor please take me back. I want out from this team pronto,
it feels like I'm going backwards ¿me entiendes? Backwards in time even, just last night I thought

Arrogance is not di Resta's biggest problem. One could say it is even a traight that a F1 driver needs to have in order to succeed. My problem with di Resta is how he ALWAYS blames everyone and everything else! When Hulkenberg started to appear in Q3 at every occasion at the end of last season Paul's excuse why he couldn't do the same was always along the lines that the temperature was not right, that he car was not good (which Paul should blame himself for because he couldn't set it up properly IMO) etc. I also didn't like Paul's attitude of him seing himself entitled to a top tier drive, especially the McLaren seat that went to Perez, though I can understand his frustration in that Hamilton pretty much snapped his so-ever-sure Mercedes seat, which if Hamilton hadn't been there would've gone to Hulkenberg anyway.

And I don't want to get involved into these thread wars but MODS, use your right to ban someone if you see fit.

Thing is, I like Vettel, there's a lot about him to like -- but he just comes off as not having really grown up sometimes... I'm thinking the cucumber incident with Karthikeyan.

Generally speaking he seems much more likable than some of the other muppets in F1, that's for sure.
