RACE

RACE

Somehow, Brands Hatch never fails to throw in some surprises. If last year it was Stig stellar performance with the underpowered Phoenix, and Mignolet's first podium in a season where nothing was expected from him, this year has been the marvelous weekend by David Neuberg and another great performance by Andrea Battani, those two drivers are the real winners from the weekend. It seems, Neuberg's stint at MRT has been good for everyone; it has given the German driver an extra point of confidence, and it has also produced a positive effect on Phillippe Nicolas, who drove the MRT like never before this season, seeing as his drive in MRT is not at all secured after Neuberg's performances. But they are not the only positives from the British race, Vantini must also be happy with his race result, in a race where he worried about being "the best of the rest" he ended up with another podium and built on his solid 3rd place in the championship.
Points were completed by Aurelien Moll in one of his not-so anonymous days, and Mirko Bosevic, who made his one stop strategy work on his behalf. Watkinson race was remarkable as well; even after a stop to fix his brake pedal, and colliding with Rhys Davies MRT, he managed to finish in the top 10, Jari Kekkonen did also a good job on getting the Boxtel to the top 10 and race was good as well for Alitalia drivers, managing to get out of Pre-Qualifying and record their 4th double finish of the season altogether.

On the downside, we must start with the dismal weekend at DGN. They messed up the strategy with both drivers at Dagnall's home race; Dagnall also spun while trying to work his way up and when he was on track for a podium finish the electrics left him some 1/2 km. from the pitlane, where he could have easily fixed the issue, but Mignolet's race was much worse, he spent most of the time at the back, victim of the wrong strategy as well, not happy with that, he spun three times (two of them totally ridiculous) and he must have thanked the fact that the transmission gave up, to have something to blame for his bad performance, true ROTR effort. Meanwhile, Dagnall must thank another retirement by Rhys Davies. Davies was running a solid 2nd when he suffered a puncture; instead from bringing the car safely into the pits (which weren't that far, to begin with), he spun into the wall and retired before being collected by Ashley Watkinson. He's ruined a good haul of points once again and he's giving too many points in favour of Mark Dagnall. At Foxdale they mustn't be too happy either. McFry went lights out at Druids in 1st lap and crashed into the back of Melrose car, launching into the gravel trap Sammy Jones and his own teammate as well. Not happy with that, he spun a few laps later and never looked like going anywhere but the back of the field. Other teams not too happy with this weekend are Kamaha (retirement by Mori and Steele couldn't make it into the points), HRT (his only driver at this race was thrown out), Aeroracing (Pippa's car gave up once more while The Stig managed to bin it), and Prospec (they're back into Pre-Qualifying and Mestolio's good perspectives ended up when his throttle got stuck and banged his car into the wall).

All in all, an eventful race; we'd like all of them to be action packed like this one!

Daniel Melrose, whilst still in Tropico the previous week wrote:First of all, I'd like to thank you all for attending this press conference, especially considering the hectic time that everyone here has had in the last few days. It is an enormous honour to be appointed as the President of Tropico and I promise to serve the people of Tropico to the best of my ability.

Now, I will have to leave for Britain in a few days but while I'm still here, I will do all that I can to help the people of Tropico. Firstly, I will appoint an initial five person ministry to oversee the governance of the country; the ministers for the economy, education, foreign affairs, interior, and defense. Who exactly will make up this ministry will be determined tomorrow afternoon but I promise the people that at least four members of the ministry will be Tropican natives. Secondly, we have started preliminary negotiations with PDVSA to build oil refineries on Tropico within the next five years, thus providing dozens of jobs for the Tropican people and guaranteeing the financial prosperity of the island. Finally, I will see to it that both the military and police force in Tropico is expanded greatly within the next five years, while also introducing new training methods to prevent cases of police brutality and the like.

Next on the agenda is the future of Tropico's F1RWRS team. As far as I understand, Tropico is the only nation in the world where Motorsport is the national sport, which I am personally proud of from my admittedly biased point of view. And as a result, there is a huge following of the national team and how it performs on the world stage. I can assure the people of Tropico that funding for the team will be guaranteed for the rest of the season, but beyond that point will be up to negotiation with our German backers, MRT and the F1RWRS Commission. Secondly, I can confirm that the Tropican Tourist board has signed a deal with MRT for next year, after negotiations which have spanned virtually since the start of 2015. This will be a massive coup for Tropican tourism as all our cars will be displaying prominent signage advertising Tropico as the premier tourist destinations in the Caribbean, as I myself have discovered through all my visits here. Finally, I as the head of the Tropican Government is fully committed to our financial backing of both Alberto Cara and Renaldo Jimenez, as both are shining beacons for Tropico in the international scene as they continue on their quest to become Tropico's first F1RWRS drivers, and hopefully our first champions in the sporting field.

I will now be taking questions from the floor.

Daniel Melrose, several days later at the British Grand Prix wrote:Well, at least I qualified the crapbox of a car this time. We're hoping for some attrition to snare home a point or two and having seen some of the chaos in the first F3RWRS, I wouldn't put that beyond the realms of possibility.

Wow, 8th on the grid, is this a dream? However, for the supposed number 1 driver to DNQ the same car is frankly shameful.

F1RWRS rules explicitly state that a member cannot be in control of more than one team. Following that bizarre decision to make Melrose President of Tropico, that makes him the effective team principal of Tropico GP, as El Presidente was before him. Therefore Melrose is team principal both there and at MRT, and Melrose is under the control of Wizzie. It's complex because arguably Klon is controlling Tropico, but I don't like it. We have a rule and it should be stuck to, no under the table shenanigans and confusing situations.

You are aware that Shinobu Katayama has more podiums then Pippa Mann does and has raced for a shorter period of time too, she is also one of the few drivers that has managed a hat trick of pole, fastest lap and win which only 2 other drivers have managed since the series started.

Katayma should be faster or equal to Shizuka so they should qualify the car a few times. And with luck score some hard earned points this season before Revolution become a midfield team next year.

After Canadaian GP

Barii Mori wrote:Will I be having words with Yamaha? Yes. Am I disappointed that we lost what could have been a podium? Yes. That is all.

Rosco Vantini wrote:That old man, Douglas, he was a big coglione, he should look at the road behind him when blue flags are waving. He cost me at least a point or two. I was angry after the race and gave him a shove, as he was a coglione. Kay Lon was also a coglione and I kicked the drunk tramp in the coglione.

Saeed Al Faisal wrote:We had a poor race but I was only abou 35 second behind my team mate and 10th is quite a good result, in F1 that would be a point.

Prince Falik wrote:7th and 10th? That is not good enough guys, we should have scored points given how few finishers their were. The only positive is that Bosevic finished ahead of Daniel Martins in the faster Sunshine car.

After British Qualifying

Barii Mori wrote:Due to the various accidents at the start, causing red flags to come out,the track was very stop and start. When we did finally get going the track got really crowded and too many idiots ended up blocking people on their flying laps, so we are well out of place, but we will race hard to score points.

Rosco Vantini wrote:Behind a woman again? Although I suppose it is only polite before I breeze past her. I will do well in this race and climb the tables.

Saeed Al Faisal wrote:I never got a clean lap but at least I qualified.

Shinobu Katayama wrote:Marie Simon did an excellent time in prequalifying, just a pity the Shizuka was just a bit slower or we would have been in the British GP. I am trying to presuade Kingfisher to let me test in their car at the up coming Brand Hatch test in return for giving them valuable feedback.

Well, things clear then; Is Klon going on with managing Tropico? If not, it should inmediately be passed to the next user on the waiting list. The commission will grant the chance for this user to decide at the end of the season if he wants to keep on with Tropico (renaming the team in any way he wants) or start a team from scratch.

If Klon goes on with Tropico, he won't have any chance to start a team from scratch; however he can rename/relocate the team in any way he wants.

Either way, no merger or any kind of operation that benefits MRT will be allowed.

I never was planning on any merger or stuff like that, although that would be expected from someone who is probably the biggest opportunist on the grid

In all seriousness though, it is up to Klon as to whether he continues on as the team owner next year or not. If he does continue however, Tropico will NOT continue funding for the team and will sell their stake to the team's German investors. If he decides to wind up operations, MRT might be interested in transferring Nathan Scott to their McDoggle Racing IndyCar team as there's at least one seat available next season.

Well, at least it wasn't in the word association thread.

I'll probably join in on the convo despite having no personal interest (drivers, team) in the series.

And looking at your current driver roster, it will probably stay that way for a long time yet

Actually, Nick Nurmester is only one official test away from attaining a license. Not that anyone would want to hire him though. Most likely my team makes it into F1RWRS before any of my drivers.

If you look at the RDS thread...you might have one hope.

Maybe, although it remains to be seen that it wasn't a fluke like Võsu's two podiums.

Actually, having the races an hour earlier would be better for Lappy and I as we'd usually be up by that point anyway. Annoyingly, today's the Friday where we don't have English first which means we'll probably miss the entire scond half of the race.
