From what I remember, Sandown was stripped of it's 500 status because the track was not in such good shape? As a race track, Philip Island is of a better standard in terms of condition and safety (although Cameron McConville almost proved otherwise a few years ago). I don't think the L&H 500 was as popular race as the Sandown 500 was either. But, it's probably down to cost. QLD Raceway had a 500 enduro at the end of the the last century and gave up in a hurry due to the expense, preferring shorter distance races.

And besides, other than Percat being utterly brilliant, last year's L&H 500 was boring as batshite as far as enduros go.

More to the point, GRM are basically facing one of their worst seasons in years as well to boot

The annoying part is I remember reading something in the summer about how Whincup has no motivation to win a championship again. He's STILL going to win by virtue of HRT crashing/throwing it away, Lowndes' horrible luck in the first half of a season and FPR being generally useless.

Ah, yes, an ex Ford team that Holden had to buy out to win the championship... and still got beaten in 2010 by a Ford team, one which was on the verge of collapse as well to add insult to injury.

They wouldn't have left if not for Ford screwing them over.

And most of us Holden fans (Read: TMLW and I) like Team Vodafone even less than we like Ford anyway.

Have to agree with you there, what Ford did to Team Vodafone was bordering on insane - they just let go of their best team in favour of FPR (who are still one of the top teams, just that they have never had the consistency to back it up).
Oh, and Whincup is the V8 Supercars version of Vettel, he's a good driver though a lot of people don't want to see him win, just because he's already won so much.

And Lowndes is the Webber - everyone wants him to win, but he keeps getting destroyed by his teammate and no one knows whether it's because he's old, not good enough or just unlucky.
