Love the idea of Helsinki thunder circuit...
BUT

It's not viable anymore. Theyve done so much work on the streets there, that the circuit could no longer fit. Hell, they added a goddamn metro station around where the track used to go :D

Just to say, a 1.2km circuit would have a 255-lap race. Unless it had the same status as Monaco, in which the race distance is cut short by around 50km.

4. Japanese Grand Prix, Suzuka Circuit, Suzuka, Mie Prefecture, Japan
5. Spanish Grand Prix, Jerez de la Fonteira, Jerez, Spain
6. Monaco Grand Prix, Monte Carlo, Monaco

8. French Grand Prix, Paul Ricard, Le Castellet, France

15. United States Grand Prix, New Jersey Street Circuit, Weewhaken and West New York, New Jersey, United States

First time poster here. I have to say Bernie and co have got the calendar all wrong. Not impressed. 2 races in America (hardly the biggest f1 fans, sure they might bring in money), no Argentina or South Africa? And even though I am an Aussie I think it is time for a new country to open the season. Also a new ender as well.

My calendar for 2015, or 2016:
Race 1: Buenos Aires, Argentina (big history, right time of year for the event, new opener)
Race 2: New Delhi, India
Race 3: Melbourne, Australia
Race 4: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Race 5: Shanghai, China
Race 6: America
Race 7: Montreal, Canada
Race 8: Barcelona, Spain
Race 9: Monza, Italy
Race 10: Nurburgring, Germany (on alternations agreement)
Race 11: Spa, Belgium
Race 12: Budapest, Hungary
Race 13: Silverstone, UK
Race 14: Monaco
Race 15: Suzuka, Japan
Race 16: Mexico City, Mexico
Race 17: Interlagos, Brazil
Race 18: South Africa (new ender)

Austria and France are unlucky and I would have included them if it was not 18 races. Obviously Russia will be there and Argentina and South Africa will not. But I am not part of the FIA.
I'll also add Singapore, which I missed out on. Alternation with India or Malaysia?

Let's try with something ^^ Tracks mostly selected for scenery and elevation changes. US is the only one to have two GPs per year. Some might be in alternance as it was kind of difficult to ditch some great tracks...

1 - Australia - Bathurst
2 - South Africa - Kyalami
3 - Brazil - Interlagos
4 - Turkey - Istanbul
5 - Italy - Imola
6 - Spain - Jarama
7 - Monaco - Monaco
8 - England - Brands Hatch
9 - France - Charade
10 - US East - Elkhart Lake
11 - Canada - Mont-Tremblant
12 - Germany - Hockenheim [pre 2002]
13 - Austria - A1-Ring [or whatever is its current name]
14 - Czech Republic - Brno
15 - Belgium - Spa Francorchamps
16 - Netherlands - Zandvoort
17 - US West - Laguna Seca
18 - Japan - Suzuka

I came here thinking it was a new thread
anyway, my ideal [and nostalgia filled] calendar would be the following :

1. Brazilan GP- Interlagos (provides excellent title deciders, but at the beginning we could have pre-season testing here again)
2. Mexican GP- Hermano Rodrigues
3. US GP - Austin (it's a fine fine track, I must admit)
4. Canadian GP - Montreal
5. San Marino GP - Imola with tamburello again (with those safe barriers used in ovals)
6. Monaco GP - Current Monaco track
7. Napoleon GP - Rotation between Current Paul Ricard and Estoril (at some point, Napoleon invaded Portugal...first thing I could remember to relate them)
8. British GP - Pre-91 Silverstone
9. German GP - Old Hockenheim
10. Austrian GP - Old Oesterreichring
11. Hungarian GP - Current Hungaroring (it's actually pretty good now)
12. Belgian GP - unchanged bus-stop Spa, because I really really liked it (Funded by FIA, FOM or Bernie himself, because it's a heritage of motorsport and should be protected)
13. Italian GP - Pre-2000 Monza (hate the silly new chicane)
14. South African GP - 70's/80's Kyalami
15. Indian GP - New Delhi
16. South Asian GP - Rotation between Kuala Lumpur & Singapore
17. Japan - Suzuka with the last chicane back where it was
18. Australia - Melbourne (Nostalgia says Adelaide, but Melbourne is a far better track IMO)

I think, those tracks bear relation either to drivers that are racing, places that are important to F1 (didn't put China that because the track sucks big big time IMO...and because there's no relevant chinese driver either) and tracks that are simply too good to be out and/or often produces good races. I think is a decent compromise.

Only 18? Damn ok here goes....

Melbourne
Sepang
Brazil
Spain
Monaco
Donnington (Flame away  )
Imola
Montreal
Austin
New Nurburgring (way better than Hockenheim)
Paul Ricard
Monza
Austria
Turkey
Spa
South Africa
Suzuka
Singapore (end under the lights)

Ideally though it should be a 21-race season with China, Argentina, and a rotating European GP in there too, but rules is rules lol

I could only narrow it down to 20 races. Keep in mind that I am perfectly aware of what time of year these would likely take place in. If you have to narrow it down to 18 races, then remove the two events in italics.

Australian GP @ Surfer's Paradise
Argentinian GP @ Somewhere New
Brazilian GP @ Interlagos
Portuguese GP @ Algarve
Monaco GP @ Monaco
British Superprix: Birmingham Superprix Layout
Texas GP @ Austin
Quebec GP @ Montreal/Circuit ICAR
Ontario GP @ Edenvale Airport
Ohio GP @ Cleveland International Airport
Canadian GP @ Edmonton Airport (2011-2012 layout)
United States GP @ Road America
Norwegian GP @ Rudskogen
Czech Republic GP @ Brno
Swedish GP @ Falkenberg
Russian GP @ Moscow
Chinese GP @ Shanghai
Japanese GP @ Suzuka
Malaysian GP @ Sepang
Abu Dhabi GP @ Yas Marina with a different layout.

All events in bold are worth double points and with all teams running three cars. For these events, the 110% rule will not apply.

Yeah, the above is serious. Let the hating begin.

Okay, granted it's not an 18-race calendar, but I could only come up with 16 races (and even that was pretty hard). And something tells me, I might have better posted it in the "unpopular opinions" thread... ;)

01.) South African GP / Kyalami (layout 1968 - 1985)
02.) Brazilian GP / Interlagos (pre-1980 layout)
03.) Spanish GP / Autodromo de Sitges-Terramar
04.) French GP / Circuit de Charade (Clermont-Ferrand)
05.) Dutch GP / Circuit Park Zandvoort (pre-1973 layout)
06.) Belgian GP / Spa-Francorchamps (pre-2006 layout)
07.) Canadian GP / Circuit Gilles Villeneuve
08.) USA GP / Indianapolis (not the F1 layout, the REAL thing)
09.) Irish GP / Phoenix Park Dublin (very old track, looks a bit like old Hockenheim)
10.) British GP / Silverstone Circuit (layout 1952 - 1974)
11.) Finnish GP / Eläintarharata (Djurgardsbanan, Helsinki) (layout 1932 - 1963)
12.) German GP / Nürburgring (layout 1927 - 1967, both Nord- and Südschleife as one track!)
13.) Swiss GP / Bremgarten Rundstrecke (layout 1955)
14.) Italian GP / Imola (pre-1995)
15.) Japan GP / Suzuka
16.) Australian GP / Mount Panorama (Bathurst)

Guess I threw driver safety completely out of the window here...

Not only driver safety, but also the fact that most of the Bremgarten circuit doesn't even exist anymore :P

Of all those layouts, only about three or four of them are actually possible today

I know that, but FullMetalJack's opening post clearly stated:

That's why I put this calendar together. It's less a possible one, but more a version I would love to see. :)
